@dfgffdvfvvf7909 Yeah, might be.. but at least there should be slightly less quality or more optimized, enabling heavy effects will slaughter fps with stutters & slowdowns My PC can max this game, but the majority of console players or low wnd PCs players will suffer from this 1 heavy effect most of the time
So fog is physx? Remember how that was awful and majority of gaming companies declined t even have that in their games? Only Arkham game was having. Nobody else.
@SeriousDragonify Yeah Batman used it as exclusive new feature for new Nvidia card at that time & considered a heavy new future.. but no one used it cause it was too heavy (same as RT now) while no one use it mostly without lowering resolution (DLSS..etc) The good part is SH2 Remake fog is more optimized compared to Batman back in last decade Lol, but it's still heavy for such an effect
only 70 fps with a 4090 at 4k dlss quality (1440p native) with RT on , is not so good , then a 4080 (more than 1.000$ gpu) will struggle to maintain 60fps at 4k dlss quality with RT from my point of view , this game is not well optimized , even more if you consider there is nothing in the map ,no physics , no npcs , no destruction, not a huge open world map, nothing , only your character and maybe two or three enemyes at once , that is all
RT is a performance killer. Current generation hardware lacks the processing power to run it properly. Software Lumen also tanks performance and that's automatically switched on when RT is off. There is no way to purely rasterize the game unfortunately. I wish the developers added it as option. This is why it's really difficult to get amazing performance in Silent Hill 2 Remake without DLSS.
@@Gamer-q7v ray tracing actually runs well on 40 series cards. It's only path Tracing that's absolutely destroying frames now. Like on a 4080-4090 you can play plenty of games with ray tracing and dlss set to quality and get well over a hundred fps

50 FPS is not the worst part. That's actually fairly impressive at native 4K max settings with RT. The thing that I find totally unacceptable is the massive traversal stutters. It's game breaking and totally ruins the fun and immersion
I see no significant graphical difference between this and RE4remake with the same setting, except this runs way worse than RE4 remake. I wonder how my 3090 Ti will handle it (without DLSS of course)
I tried almost every settings and just found out that the best decision is to keep it in native resolution. Less stutter less frame drops. 6800xt here, and the game runs fine in 1440p native!
I'd wager that if you inject that latest DLSS release (3.7+), it will improve things. And even further still if you set your profile to Preset E in the DLSS Tweaks launcher.
Native is all that matters, for those of you defending dlss and frame gen, you are just coping...you paid 2000$ for a gpu that cant do 4K , the ai thing will never look as good as real 4k and it will *never* be 4K , these upscaling technologies are made for npc's who are coping. Just get your real pixels without artifacts and no input lag nonsense going on in the background.
when "RTX" word entered the gaming industries the visual improvement is little or nearly no difference despite we no longer see 3 digit FPS but stuttering & hitchings
Remember physx? Many game companies planned having but seeing the performance of struggling fps they ditched the idea. Arkham games and other on physx run very bad even on modern components.
this game looks awesome. To the people saying the graphics look bad, pay attention to the asset quality. Look at the trees at the beginning and leaves. Its obvious theres a leap in detail of the assets. The lighting in the game is flat because that's the art style of the atmosphere. A sunset/sunrise in rdr2 is beautiful but when the weather is cloudy, the graphics dont look as impressive. No other games does the gloomy/grey atmosphere better than silent hill 2. One thing i dont like the detail of the character's faces. The trailer had way more detail on the faces.
the issue is bad optimization , i get 60-70s fps on low , rt off with dlss 3 quality at 1600p , with mobile rtx 4070 , for some reason the game simply does not draw more power than 80W for me , even though it goes up to 100-120 in other games.

ue5 is demanding because of the extra lighting and shadow options it gives to all the different objects on screen, i'm pretty sure in a heavily dark environment it will run a lot better. Honestly most of the settings make a negligible difference between medium and high, and even low and high. Some dont chnage anything at all and still eat performance. Shaders eat more frames that RAYTRACING thats actually insane. Put shaders on low and put up some raytracing
Death Stranding, massive, dynamic open world with a kilo of draw distance, gets 100fps. Modern AAAA game with linear world and just a few metres of draw distance gets 45fps. He*l yeah!!!

Just watch your 6090 being obsoleted 1 year after launch in 4/5 years from now.
The fact that the 4090 can get around 50 FPS at native 4K max settings with RT in the less demanding areas is impressive. RT is notoriously demanding, considering multiple rays are being shot per pixel, and the GPU has to do millions and millions of calculations when the light bounces from one surface to another. I would only consider this badly optimised due to terrible traversal stutters. Not the actual performance. Silent Hill 2 is a large open world AAA game that has a bunch of high-resolution multi layered textures and geometry, which further makes this more demanding. Games that are poorly optimised and don't justify their performance for their mediocre graphics are Starfield, Jedi Survivor, Forspoken, and Unlimited Solar Crown. Black myth wukong was the same, people should be very vocal about terrible optimization in games.
That is just bad.... really bad. GPU costing this much and can barely do 60FPS in 4k.
Back in PS1 & PS2 era.. fog meant to reduce the CPU/GPU usage & boost fps
In PS3/ PS4 PS5 era.. fog mant to brutel fps by like 20% & increase CPU/GPU usage
And it's not UE5 issue.. developers rely so much on the engine features without doing that much of custom optimizations to improve FPS or Grhaphics.. it's like copy paste with some changes & here we go, we got a new game to sell
Maybe because the fog is volumetric... The fog in the past literally didn't took any resources.
@dfgffdvfvvf7909 Yeah, might be.. but at least there should be slightly less quality or more optimized, enabling heavy effects will slaughter fps with stutters & slowdowns
My PC can max this game, but the majority of console players or low wnd PCs players will suffer from this 1 heavy effect most of the time
So fog is physx?
Remember how that was awful and majority of gaming companies declined t even have that in their games?
Only Arkham game was having.
Nobody else.
@SeriousDragonify Yeah Batman used it as exclusive new feature for new Nvidia card at that time & considered a heavy new future.. but no one used it cause it was too heavy (same as RT now) while no one use it mostly without lowering resolution (DLSS..etc)
The good part is SH2 Remake fog is more optimized compared to Batman back in last decade Lol, but it's still heavy for such an effect
Fake fog vs accurate fog, learn the difference
only 70 fps with a 4090 at 4k dlss quality (1440p native) with RT on , is not so good , then a 4080 (more than 1.000$ gpu) will struggle to maintain 60fps at 4k dlss quality with RT
from my point of view , this game is not well optimized , even more if you consider there is nothing in the map ,no physics , no npcs , no destruction, not a huge open world map, nothing , only your character and maybe two or three enemyes at once , that is all
RT is a performance killer.

Re 4 remake was leaps and bounds better looking imo. Better lighting, better world physics, better textures and much better shadows.
The ghosting with dlss :(
Not really that bad
Unnoticeable
Maybe its because they're using an old file of DLSS.

Patches should be coming soon to address any frame spike issues. The horrible stuttering issues would be the reason why I consider this badly optimised.
