      You might want to take a good look at your grocery store's balance sheet. Grocery stores operate on a tiny 1-3% profit margin, and most profit margins have gone down thanks to record inflation. Kroger's profit margin last year was just 1.33%, which is the lowest it has been since the aftermath of the 2008 recession. Even if your store makes as much in profit as it did in 2019, the buying power of that dollar isn't even 70% of what it used to be.

    Single female…$40.00 a week…takes creativity…3 years ago $50.00 and I had really nice meals, bottle of wine from time to time and some convenience items. My grocery budget is $10.00/ wk less now ( insurance increases have to be found somewhere). Fortunately at 72 I only work 32 hrs a week so there is time for creative cooking and prep…The present grocery cost situation must be awful as well as frightening for families with children.

    I'm bewildered because I just turned 39 and lost my job. With $425K saved for an early retirement at 50, $10,000 in an HSA, and a property that might bring in an additional $200K in revenue, what passive income opportunities do I have?

      I’m confused about whether to combine all my investment accounts into one. If I decide to do this, how should I go about it, and will there be any consequences I should be aware of? I also intend to sell my property, which could add an extra 200K overtime. Should I consolidate everything into one investment account, or diversify across several sectors?

    Shop your store’s loss leaders when you can. It’s those cheap items that get you in the door because they have expensive items being sold like lobster to make up for the cost. My one local grocery store’s loss leader is $1.39 a lb ground beef because Chilean sea bass is 21.99 a lb. I just saw the ground beef has been 1.39a lb for over a month and I just saw the price today. $1.39 a lb was the regular price for ground beef back in 2002 at select grocery stores.

    • @John-bs5ug
      @John-bs5ug 23 дня назад

      What's the name of that store? Which state? 80/20 or 73/27? We haven't had ground beef at that price in over 15 years, and pretty much all the grocery stores in our area quit selling higher end fish and meat ever since inflation took off in the summer of 2021. They have a ton of frozen Chinese junk fish though :(

      @@John-bs5ug Fresh world international grocery store. 93% lean and 83% lean. Virginia is the state but just the northern area. This store still sells high end meat and fish because they need to make up for the cheap items like ground beef.

    • @John-bs5ug
      @John-bs5ug 23 дня назад

      @@xwrtk Yeah, that would make sense because here they'd lose their shirts if they offered 93% lean for that price. Here in Texas, we used to have a lot of dairy loss leaders like 27 cent for a dozen eggs, 99 cents for 1lb of butter, and 99 cents for a gallon of milk. We even had those prices in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, but now the sales are $1.99 for 18 eggs, 1.99-2.99/lb of butter, and between 1.99-2.49 for a gallon of milk. Ribeye, T-bone, and NY Strip steak would go on sale often for $4.99 and around Christmas, $3.99/lb. Now steak is rarely ever on sale, and when it is, the meat just looks so sad, especially for $5.99-7.99/lb.

      Obesity has actually leveled in the US and it’s on the rise in other parts of the world.

    No offense, but you should go to poor people or those who really know how to shop. Showing Whole Foods organic products, etc discounted this entire segment. Most of the populace who are struggling would never shop Whole Foods nicknamed “Whole Paycheck”!
    Go to the ethnic stores or poor neighborhood stores and large families to ask how do they do it?! And Costco( I also go there) you can’t get out without spending hundreds of dollars easily. And on top of that they raised their membership. Right now, I have a business executive membership with my siblings and kids on there. We spend and get a check that pays for our membership free to at the most 25./ year.

      @@Lillypad-ix7sv People are already eating out of the garbage thanks to Harris/Biden-flation. More people are in poverty today under Biden than under Trump or most of Obama's two terms. Inflation hit a 40+ year high, gas prices hit record highs, and credit card debt is at record highs. How could anyone like that?! Trump will get prices down by, among other things, bailing out farmers and ranchers who have been struggling with drought and disease, pressuring oil companies to increase refining capacity, and cutting burdensome regulations on oil and gas, which will drive the price of gas, natural gas, and electricity down. What will Harris do? Why hasn't the admin station done it already?

Biden wouldn't have stopped travel from China, so there would have been even more people who would have died in 2020 if Biden were president then. And since you probably don't know, grocery stores operate on a tiny 1-3% profit margin. Raising their taxes, like Harris wants to do, will only raise prices even further.
