Brilliant episode, both of you! Talk Talk's dark records are my desert island records so wonderful to hear some details that's not in the book. And BTW, .O.rang is on Tidal at least, under Orang. Thanks!
what a star , i got my 1st tech job same way , by just asking in a pub when a dude that just got singed , few weeks later i was on tour . Phill Brown is a GOD when it comes to recording , i think i've seen the dude a few times at the studios when i was working with bands , love what u say about mixing , that's the best , i've done mixing when i had 3 members of band on the faders and we did a mix over and over , ur stop on about being an engineer it's never been a good feeling someone taking over , u put ur love into a recording , look at it this way u put a sm57 on sn then the next song has it placed at 90 degrees arahhh . i don't think the kids will understand most of this but it makes me smile , 2 track 4 track now look what people have to work with. I ll also say the talk talk stuff i would say it's in may top 10 of best recordings ever i wish i worked with Phil just one time the man is a GOD , maybe one day i can work with him . this is the best ever thing i've seen on youtube that any ones done , thank u Andrew for doing this . as an old man its just puts a smile on my face .TAPE faz lol the kids have no clue .saying its randon , lol thats why we waiting until 3 am . if u feel me . i know most will be thinking i don't understand what am saying i know u will .i have to say sound tape opps have giving me mixes that are way better than what was released now thats crazy , thanks again for posting this . ill have to come meet up with u Andrew when this virus is over ur just down the road from me . we can have a blast . first time i came across mobile was at the manner in oxford they did all the albert hall stuff , i forgot about that until u said that PHIL , cozy lol re working at rich bitch with him , THANKS FOR THIS EQIC i could say more but who is going to read it lol
Absolutely wonderful interview… what a beautiful force Phill Brown is… just started the book, buy it folks! Thanks Andrew, you’re a Wizard A True Star as well, Doug
Wow what a treat! Those Talk Talk albums and Mark Hollis’ solo album, just nothing is better to me… I would encourage people to read his book Are We Still Rolling, fantastic
Good to see as always. Also really looking forward to watching the upcoming episode on hearing-having tinnitus since many years I'll be particularly interested. Good you take that topic seriously.
Another thing, Those albums are so stunningly beautiful… because they were working in the dark …maybe? they were producing sonic light? Just a thought…
Just received Laughing Stock on Vinyl and it is streamable on Amazon Music. Thank you for the turn on!!! Great work Phill even though it cost you a pound of flesh to make it.
I don’t think people understand how masterful this interview is! It’s truly one of the best I have ever seen in my life…
