    I have been obsessed with your edits for years, these walk throughs feel like a New Years gift!! And so refreshing to feel a real human in these videos. Quick question, the image looks different from when you were editing it in Lightroom to the final result you showed in Before/After sldies (less vibrant, less contrast, etc). I always struggle with this when i export from Lightroom- How do you get the export to really look like the edited image?

      So glad you enjoyed it, my friend!
      As for the edit, I noticed the difference you mentioned, and have a few theories as to how that could have happened:
      1. I typically edit in a darker room, but as I was editing in a very bright room I may have misjudged the contrast/shadows. If that’s the case, I’d just drop the shadows/midtones to create the contrast seen the final result.
      2. My Lightroom background (area immediately surrounding the image) is grey, whereas the ‘final result’ was displayed on a white background, with the latter naturally giving off a more contrasting look.
      Either way, I hope it was helpful, and I’ll aim to do the next in my favoured pitch black conditions 🫡

    The numbers on the sliders need to end with a 0 or a 5. The only way to edit photos haha!

      Hard agree. One cannot simply adjust the highlights to -37.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to set the sliders to round numbers, e.g. +/- 50 🙂

    I am so excited for this channel. I especially love the process videos in Lightroom so far since it's such a daunting tool for a beginner. One piece of feedback is I would love to hear more about WHY you are adjusting a certain setting vs just WHAT you are adjusting. I struggled with this same concept when learning guitar: There are 80 different knobs to turn and it's really difficult to know what small change on 1 knob is going to do to the total sound after you make changes to the other 79 knobs. I feel the same way with Lightroom.

      Might make another for this week’s video! Thanks for letting me know about that - I sometimes wonder that if I spend too much time explaining each adjustment, the video will be far too long. All about find a balance, so will keep it in mind for the next 🤝🏼

    As a Chinese fan, I discovered your photos through a blogger's share on Douyin. I really like your style, so I followed you on Instagram and then subscribed to your RUclips channel. I really enjoy your tutorial videos on RUclips and hope to see more of them in the future. Additionally, I have a small suggestion - it would be great if your videos had English subtitles, as it's challenging to guess what you mean without Chinese subtitles, especially since I am Chinese.

    Love this kind of tutorial ! It's incredible what a few minutes of editing can do !! Could you show somewhere the difference between the picture out of the camera, after this 15min editing session and what you would like this photo to look like if you took aaaaaall the time you usually take ? :) Love this content !

    • @jordhammond
      @jordhammond  10 месяцев назад +1

      Right?! With years of consistent editing practice it’s funny how far you can take an edit in such a short period of time, though I’d have to admit some photos are less complicated to edit than others. I have a before and after at the end of the video, and think if you were to see the ‘final’ edit it probably wouldn’t look so different to the naked eye 😂

    I’m curious why you’re not using the AI sky selecting masks. It would do a great job on an image like this.

    • @jordhammond
      @jordhammond  10 месяцев назад

      I find ‘AI Select Sky’ does a decent job with clearly defined skies, for example in cities or with a simple hill dividing the foreground and sky, but in this instance there were too many smaller details in the mid/background for the AI to precisely select the sky (bamboo poles, leaves, etc).
      When this is the case, I end up with an awful halo effect around many of the artefacts and end up having to manually adjust the mask.
      Just my experience, but in this case it seemed the linear gradient + intersected colour range did a great job in a very short space of time!

    • @EnjoiRom1
      @EnjoiRom1 10 месяцев назад

      @@jordhammond Usually I intersect with a linear gradient when the limit sky / rest of the image is simple.
      Sometimes I use the brush when the forms are more complex.
      I'll definitely try your technic !

    Great insight into your thinking process about how to edit - even if it was the "fast version". Becomes more important when you edit a series of connected photos towards common style. This was not the subject here, of course - but do you use presets to align photo styles?
    Thank you. I enjoyed this.

    • @jordhammond
      @jordhammond  10 месяцев назад

      Glad you enjoyed! I’m surprised I managed to edit/create a decent base layer for this image in such a short timeframe, though I suppose the conditions may have done the heavy lifting for me.
      I have a number of presets I use for photos I want to share on my IG stories/bulk editing client work - will be releasing them soon!
      Asides from that, I typically enjoy spending multiple hours with a single photo. It’s a (mostly) peaceful process 🙏🏼
