I put FTE in my FJZ105. Hwy driving is chalk and cheese. It just pulls up the hills in 4th with torque converter locked (auto) and I get 14L/100 weighing 3.6T with a RTT on 33s. So with 270L fuel on board it'd s breeze doing trips. In fact I rarely fill up the long range tank, and it generally works out well with dual cabs with smaller tanks getting better fuel ecconomy to align fuel stops. I have done modest power mods and its enough for me. Did all the Cape York tracks in 2019 without recovery, so you can still have a tough tourer. I haven't experienced a turbo 1fz, but i think you would have no regrets given you already know how much they drink...
I've had an FTE built and decided to put that in a 105 similar to yourself. Excited to see the difference between the two. But I can nearly guarantee this will be my one and only diesel build. They are stupidly expensive in every aspect compared to petrol, except for fuel usage.
10k worth of mods 40k just in fuel to get to the cape an back😂 all jokes aside nice rig and just wondering how do you tighten your knuckle bearings for bigger tyres been having an issue with that for awhile
Think 4x4 comment The 1FZ is starting to win me over to some degree. Very impressive figures for a petrol, the only killer is the fuel consumption.....not that a 1HZ is frugal. The 1FZ-FE is almost twice the motor when looking on at the specs on paper. Also 1FZ 80s fly by effortlessly when I'm on the road.😅 Honestly I would keep the 80 as is (with regards to the engine). I haven't dug too deep in the turbo 1fz rabbit hole, but the results are somewhat disappointing from what I remember seeing. Engine swap is a whole nother ball game, but since you already have the engine (the expensive part), it can be something to consider. It all depends on how much you want to spend on it.
@Think4X4 1 second ago Check out Sam Eyles BNB 80 or Sam Young's 80 build with turbo FZ. These Engines are extremely strong and respond well to boost with little to no modification.

great seeing a run-through the finer details. I found the front hub work interesting about the locking tab and axle seal upgrades.
Trail Gear is the brand. They are called speedy sleeve axle seal and bearing retaining locknut.
I put a LS 6 litre in mine better fuel economy great vid right to the end

@@Think4X4FTE are very expensive. 1HZ turbo on the other hand is pretty cheap.
Great run-through, mate
Nice rig run down

What's the best suspension for overlanding? Front and reae bumpers, winch, rear drawers, etc.
Nice mate 👌 cheers for the vid 👍
Great reveiw.😍
HDJ81 with a 1-HDT owner here……..go diesel, no regrets.
My 80 series is the only one I've seen with 2wd and a PTO winch 1hz. Does anyone know what I've got?

What about a Bullet Cars Supercharger kit
Mate, you got links for the seal and the bearing lock nut from trail gear?
They are called speedy sleeve axle seal and bearing retaining locknut.
12Deg is alot of timing for a 1fzfe.
You're better off running 6-7deg and still get away with 91/95 octane and have same power output
What’s your roof rack setup
How’s fuel consumption on the petrols mate
16-22 on the highway depending on load and what's on the roof.
23-26 low range 4wding
Mate what make is you're snorkel I want one?
