      remember that you have to clean it often as birds will poop as they eat! and that can spread diseases!

    • @Super_simple_diy

      I put mine up early spring once we saw a ton of bird activity around our house. I did have to entice them by throwing feed around ground of house and window sill. Eventually they got curious and started to come inside. I had it around my office window and if one would come in the moment I made any kind of move they would immediate get out. If our kids were ever yelling near it they would not visit 🤣.

    • @Super_simple_diy
      @Super_simple_diy  Год назад +1

      Ha ha, as I mention in full DIY, this is not meant to be left out permanently. Mainly as a portable feeder which is used during the day and cleaned out regularly. Depending on where it’s mounted you WILL have squirrels visit but in our case we don’t mind since kids can up close and personal with them. They usually don’t scare as easy as birds.

      @@Super_simple_diy I thought the window at ground level, and facing the street, was a slider. However, it appears to be a fixed window that is perhaps not as vulnerable. Having worked in law enforcement, and remodeling my homes, I look at every angle. Otherwise, that's a pretty cool idea of a bird feeder, especially for children to view.

    • @Super_simple_diy
      @Super_simple_diy  Год назад +2

      @@thesongbird2383 it’s designed to be portable so that it can only be used during the day also. Definitely wouldn’t recommend for this to be left out over night or for a permanent installation.

    as cute as this is, birds carry mites that can bite people too, they're so tiny, they can get in through the smallest of cracks or gaps in the window set up. I wouldn't want them in my house.

    • @Super_simple_diy
      @Super_simple_diy  Год назад +1

      Yep it’s definitely not meant to be left out forever which is why it’s portable. We clean ours daily and only leave enough seeds to last a couple of hours when they are highly active.

      Like during the day? This is meant for temporary daily use by the way. Not recommend to leave out permanently. Also if they do come in because you have so many critters then they will leave if you tap on the container.

      I’m pretty sure you can get more than that if you leave it out permanently. If you clean it daily and only use it for a couple of hours a day you should be good. That’s why it’s portable.

      As an engineer I’m going to say anything is definitely possible….. from having this at my office pretty much all year what I’ve noticed is that they are extremely careful. Sometimes when one comes in and I’m near I feel like I have to moving or breathing 🤪. They usually come in…take a couple of bites and fly off but then come back in to repeat the cycle.
