If you shoot backwards with the older tanks they get boosted and go realy fast
If you flew over certain buildings in Vice City you could go "under the map." Same thing with 3 but it was much harder to control the rhino.
I think if you do that driving up an incline with speed you can fly the old tanks

The tanks in GTA 3 and GTA Vice City are impervious to RPG fire. However, in GTA San Andreas it takes 20 to destroy them and in GTA 5 they're toast after 8. Safe to say that they don't make them like they used to.

In Vice City and III, I'd aim the cannon behind me and fire it while driving. It was the fastest way to get around in it.

Old GTA tanks came straight out of the Bradley that they just buffed up.
The SA version came from an M1A1 Tank that just recently well received after the Persian Gulf War in 1990-91 while the game was based in 92.
The Tank from GTA V came straight from a Leopard 2. The Main Battle Tank of the German Bundeswehr.

Not entirely accurate since the fire does the damage in San Andreas. The rockets themselves don't do anything.

they had to give the older rhinos some sort of drawback, since they were virtually indestructible. So they made the doors easy to open so that police could get to you.

I always liked the tank in GTA SA most, since it looked most like a reallife tank, except it were missing it's tank treads.
Also the tanks in GTA III and GTA VC looks more like an AFV than a tank.
Gta V's tank is the most realistic as it actually has tracks, 2 machine guns(though, it is unusable.)and accurately resembles the German Leopard 2a4.
If the GTA SA's tank had it's tracks it would be looking like the M1 Abrams. Also it's a shame you can't have a gunner on any of them.

I used cheats and tried the mini gun, grenades, satchel bombs, and even my own tank destroy the tank.
But nothing worked.....
I was starting to think it was indestructible because even my own tank couldn't destroy the tank I was trying to destroy.
Unless......I use Molotovs
I used Molotovs at that Tank, 10 of them, and whaddya know? It actually works!
Tanks are indestructible when it comes to firey explosions.
But they get destroyed in 10 seconds when it comes to fire spreading.

The answer of course would be the tank from GTA3 and Vice City. Why? You can rotate the tank Cannon and have it stay in that position until you want to move it again and also you can keep the tank cannon faced behind the tank and fire over and over making the tank the fastest vehicle in the game.

FUN FACT: did u know u can fly a tank in gta3? There's a glitch where if u go to a certain bridge, reverse and shoot the cannon at the same time u will start to take off
1st of all, about speed, I clearly remember that in gta 3's tank could go way faster if I drived forward while shooting behind with the canon. I don't know if it was also possible with other gta, though. Secondly, where are the kanjaly and apc? They are also tanks. ^-^

The turret in GTA2 can be rotated. Hold the horn then steer iirc. Same works with the fire truck. Also, if you sit ontop of a car you are invincible and NPCs cannot remove you :p

I just realized the Flying cheat for vehicles "come fly with me" in vice city works with Tank too. You just have to shoot backward rapidly with the tank while driving and you will eventually fly. Just you know there is no stopping for tank when flying like others cars.

GTA 3,San Andreas,vice city,liberty city and liberty city stories tanks are immune to almost everything except fire and crashing with other tanks.The only reason some of them failed the test of RPG is, because it generated fire which can destroy these tanks

Vice City: Unceremoniously spawns it on top of a car causing it to explode.
Funnily enough, I enjoyed Vice City's tanks far more because of the cheat codes. San Andreas might have had both to, but it was so fun in VC to have Cars drive on water and Flying Cars when it in a tank.
