  • Amazing inflatable pontoon w/ Minn Kota Endura 30 trolling motor. Has custom-mounted Garmin Striker 4 fishfinder / GPS. Handles very well even with 350+ lb. load in windy / heavy chop conditions. Speed ~ 5 MPH. Setup time ~ 20 min. using portable air inflator. Wheel kit allows the boat to be moved to the boat launch. Everything fits into the back of SUV. No trailer needed. Accomodates 1 person. Easy to fish from while sitting but a little wobbly while standing.

    Great video!!!! How was it installing the floor boards every time you inflate the boat? I heard they are a reel pain.

  • @dmoreno78
    @dmoreno78  3 года назад +1

    Beware - don't install the floor board backwards, or you're gonna have a bad time! I did this by mistake today and even though the boat was supported OK, the seat was closer to the front and caused too much weight there to allow water into the boat. Ended up retreating to shore after just 30 minutes, with a good 5"+ of water soaking my shoes and getting into the battery boxes.

    Great video. Liked. Did you actually gps your speed at 5mph with a 30 lbs trolling motor? That seems faster than possible for a motor that size and the hull size/shape. I'm not challenging you - simply double checking. I could not read your Garmin and wonder if that's where you got your speed. Thanks.

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  3 года назад +1

      No, the 5 MPH is what I found online for this boat/motor combo. I probably get about 3 MPH with the weight/wind. It's no speed boat but it gets you where you want to be.

    Nice setup! Is that a sea eagle ez cart? Are you able to wheel the boat around with your battery inside of it? I have a 60 pound battery and I feel like it might be too heavy for the cart

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  4 года назад +3

      Yes it's Sea Eagle EZ Cart (small). I have 70 lb. deep cycle battery. With all the weight added, it's not hard at all to move. But you must keep the bottom of boat and fish finder transducer from scraping the pavement so you have to keep it at a level angle while pulling/pushing. I'm going to try using a rope for leverage so I don't have to stoop down to do this.

    how did you attach the wheels? Is there a way to mount a depth finder head unit to the front of the boat? I notice that you put a crate with your battery and things behind the seat. Anything I should know? You did a great job, thanks for sharing

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  4 года назад +1

      I use Sea Eagle small wheel cart and attached the straps through the Scotty mounts (they were intended to be run around the boat each time but that's a huge pain - this is so much better!). Garmin Striker 4 fishfinder is mounted on the back of boat next to the motor transom which I modded with a simple board and clamps to extend it. The transducer mount is a Brocraft kit you can find on Amazon. The batteries are in the back of boat and the crate in front; the crate holds the anchors/gear bag/drinks.

    Hey dave can we get more detail on your transom. I ordered one of these and I have a fishing buddy max so I am trying to make plans for attaching it.

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  3 года назад

      I use the Sea Eagle bundled transom, modified with a basic particle wood board primed/painted and attached to the transom using C-clamps. Works great for mounting both the trolling motor and the fish finder together behind the boat.

    How much do you inflate it to? Does it feel hard to the touch or kinda soft when you push on the part that fills up air

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  4 года назад +1

      I inflate using rechargeable battery air pump first. But that doesn't have enough 'kick' to full inflate the boat. I then switch to the foot pedal pump to really push air hard to fully inflate it (takes a bit of pressure). Should not feel soft and most wrinkles should be gone. It will slightly deflate while on the water (cold water condenses the air inside).

    Hey, I was just wondering if keeping the wheels attached is assisting the tracking, kinda like a small double keel?

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  2 года назад

      Yes they help with tracking when moving the boat. But the boat spins easily in the wind or when you move on the chair.

    They need stores to carry all kinds of inflatable boats of different brands. I need to touch it and see in person. Tired of everything being an online order.

      Agreed! I bought my based on reviews and online videos people made.

    I like the idea of leaving the wheels attached. Is there much drag? I'm getting ready to order one of these boats.

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  2 года назад

      The boat is very buoyant, and the wheels don't cause any noticeable drag. However if you navigate through heavy weeds/algae, the wheels can drag it and it'll slow the boat down a bit. But that stuff comes off fairly easily by steering the boat left and right a few times.

    Hi bud, I was wondering about your minn kota. What would you recommend. I was thinking about getting the traxxis 55 for it but don't know what is best. Any thoughts?

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  3 года назад +1

      Minn Kota C2 30 lb. thrust trolling motor is perfect for this boat. Anything more is overkill and the extra weight will be detrimental.

      @@dmoreno78 I ended up getting the endura max 45 with a lithium iron phosphate battery. Little heavier with the motor a lot lighter with the battery. Hopefully she'll balance out.
      Thanks for the reply.
      Edit: I just realised that I also ended up not choosing the sea eagle and went with the Colorado.

    You just leave the wheels attached?

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  4 года назад

      yes - the boat handles fine with them on and this way I can move the boat immediately back at the boat ramp

  • @melissabacon2698

    How is it just paddling with the oars?

    • @dmoreno78
      @dmoreno78  Год назад

      Handles really well with the oars due to the buoyancy of the boat. You need them when you get stuck on a log in shallow water lol
