    Good tip about the gathering pallet removal, logical, but I hadn't thought of doing it that way!

      Much better than risking bending or breaking the square.

    Good video Tommy, nice comment about the hole between the teeth of the fusee...to release the click, something I was unaware of, and I may have not spotted in the past. 👍

      Use with extreme caution! Not all clocks have it, but most quality clocks of this period do.

    Nice to hear Wintergatan - perfect music for your channel, Tommy!
    Nice 'perfect' handle screwdriver too, I've almost got a full set of Smiths and a couple of King Dicks.
    Thanks for the detailed explanation, not just of what is wrong, but what made it go wrong.
    I like the Spring Compressor - nice idea to get round a potentially dangerous task... looking forward to part #3

      Thanks very much. I'm a big fan of @wintergatan Martin is a bit of an inspiration with his positive mental out look. I love old tools and like the feel of these old screwdrivers. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Tommy, love your videos very informative and its lovely to see a master clockmaker at work, i have a Ollie Baker winder do you mind if i ask you where you got that size capture barrel from, i am having trouble getting hold of one that is larger then the one that came with the Ollie Baker, or did you make it your self.Thanks

      Hi, this one came with the Ollie Baker. I bought it quite a few years ago before there was a UK supplier so perhaps that's it? Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the videos.

    Hello Tommy,
    Could you please advise what sort of time interval should a clock like this be serviced.
    Take care.
    Paul,,

      @TommyJobson  3 года назад +1

      Hi Paul, It's a good idea to be looking at a service after around five years. That way i's an 'engine oil service' and not an 'engine rebuild'. This one had been left so long it had punched a piston out of the side of the block!

      @@TommyJobson Thanks so much for those kind words. i’ve been really lucky to have worked on some of the best makers over the years & i guess some of that must have rubbed off i do sometimes look at them and wonder how i did them ( especially the lantern engraving, who do u use 4 hand engraving these days? ) so really must crack on & finish them.

    Tommy, do you think that Eric Gent is 'noted restorer Eric Gent' by any chance?

    • @TommyJobson
      @TommyJobson  3 года назад

      I certainly do. I have worked on a lot of the same clocks as him over the years, they are usually accompanied with several sides of A4 handwritten notes!
