That axle design is sweet probably a hell of a lot cheaper than running a second transfer case and trying to make it all line up. Honestly this is what Matt's off-road should have done for their 6x6
I really like the intermediate axle design you guys are going with! Definitely think that’ll do better than the other 6x6’s I’ve seen
Thanks Hunter! Can’t wait to test drive this
Wow, awesome work, can't wait to see the finished product.
Stay tuned!! We hope to get content out on this weekly
@@BASIN_NATION cool, I'm designing a 6x6 which I'm going to start building in acouple of months.
I’d love to see how you design it!
I gotta tell ya. It's been very exciting being here from the very beginning, watching you build this from nothing. I was very curious on how well you would build and I am so very impressed. It's amazing. GREAT team. You know just how to get the right talent for the vision. Best of luck to you and all you guys there. You're rocking it.
Thanks for watching! We appreciate the people supporting the channel by watching and commenting when they can. Thanks
I’ve been waiting for a build like this .. hell yeah!! 👍
Thanks for watching! More content coming
Kole again doing a amazing job on the camera!
Showing how the 435 area code represents 🎉
Midway Wrangler for life!
3 months has come and gone with no OG truck camper for Alaska. Very sad.
100% sad.... We are sorting that out! Should have content coming on the C60 in one form or another. I've gotta keep it going but the shop is way too busy to work on it during hours. Trust me I'm figuring out how to keep it going.
@@BASIN_NATION I thought it was for the show, work always comes 1st
Yeah, I have been waiting for that build, it should be AWESOME! 👌👏👍
I'm here in wasilla alaksa I'm starting a 6x6 project for the dajota probably isn't as cool as most but 🤷
This is gonna be unstoppable.
Just dropped another episode today!
Can't wait to see this rear setup complete but im also anxious to see the old Chevy finished too. I know, i know. Work before play
Definitely a balanced approach. Gotta work on stuff that brings money in sometimes:) haha
Cool build guys.
Thanks for watching!! Stay tuned for more
Pretty cold welds
This looks like it's going to be an epic build! I see you've got loads of new guys in the shop! 👍
Kyle is Aaron’s older brother. We are really happy to have him helping us
@@BASIN_NATION I thought they looked similar! What's happening with the motor home rebuild?
We had to focus on making money with some production work in the shop. Lining up a new transmission and turbo right now. Should see more soon
@@BASIN_NATION ah OK, that's completely fair.
You can't create content if you haven't got a business 😅
I hope everything is going in the right direction now 👍
100% everything is good! We’ve definitely learned a lot this first year. Balance is everything
What gears are you using in the 3rd member from Rockwell axle thanks
What gears did you put in the rockwell 3rd member.
Rockwells are great, but what are you doing about the 6.92 gear ratio? It will be super slow or 6k rpm on the freeway.
How’s the camper coming ? That axel is the absolute balls now everyone will be doing it. This 550 is gunna be insane
I hope it does well. The camper got put on the back burner for a bit but we are sourcing a transmission and a turbo right now to keep the project moving
With custom axles, how is this thing ever going to be legal to operate? Can you get a custom rating for the rig once youre done fabricating?
What gear ratio are you going to use?
Nice build, which camera do you use for your videos?
Sony FX3, go pro, I phone, DJI drone
Honestly wouldn't it had been cheaper and easier to have a custom power divider made ? Theres a company out of ohio called scs gearbox that does it for monster truck with a neutral and a pinion so it bolts up to the axle
In this episode the frame went from unsleeved to sleeved but nothing was showen on that like how it was done and was there a piece added...
13min in . Was you using a lawnmower blade sharpener to clean the edges of that metal?
That reminds me I’ve got to sharpen mine today
Looks like we never get to see a project to the end
We’ve finished more than we haven’t. Still moving on it
@@BASIN_NATION well we don't see it I have my notifications on because I am not the only one who noticed because we still waiting on the your inlaws truck y'all was building to go to Alaska
Just curious🤔, but wouldn't it been easier to just use the whole rockwell axle and just cut the ends off and put the ford hubs on with custom axles and suspension. And Correct me if im wrong, but the f550 comes from the factory with the square tube big truck style rear end for the weight capacity. Where as the axle you showed at the beginning of the video was more for a f450 since they still use the cast iron center section with weld in axle tubes.
Initially we were going to use the M300 out of a 2017+ (these have a 4.5” round tube) We ended up going with a s110 which is pre 2017 (these do have square axle tubes). The square tube dimensions are different between the Rockwell and s110. It’s not like we could just sleeve one into the other and also the snouts are still round. The route we went allowed a .375 faceplate the we can mill flat, have proper pinion offset, self fixtured, went together really fast and it’s aesthetically pleasing. 450 and 550 have utilized the same axles throughout the years. In conclusion our intermediate is a s110/hybrid (square from a 15’ f550) our rear is a m300 (round from a 23’ f550)
9:30 even if you do change the gear ratio, it just shows that there isn't going to be terrible wear anywhere else
Good to see it’s working. If it had issues with these gear it probably would again
Where’s the camper?
Covering that soon
Turn down the music a notch or two..
Please!? Other than that, great episode!
I’m deaf so this is actually good feedback thanks
Put a girl on
Running it essentially upside down may give you lubrication problems.
It’s not being run upside down. That are designed to be utilized as a top loader. There’s an upper oil bath built into the third member.
How is it upside down
A $100,000 add-on why?? More money than brains!!
You must be new to the utility truck industry. They are building a truck to fit a customer's needs. I worked in that industry for 14 years and what they are building is a medium- heavy duty utility truck. I've seen bigger 6x6s with 280" custom utility bodies that were upfitted with different kinds of capabilities.
Wouldn’t take a ton of money;)
You have a humongous shop, but it has no build order, it doesn't look to have any functionality....need a Nascar shop foreman to give you some pointers perhaps...
Just so happens you are my guy? Mr. NASCAR??
Ol’ Ricky is going to go full Dale up in here.
