    Bought a new exhaust for mine (TGB Bullet 50), bought the Tecnigas Next-R, and now it does about 35mph with no other modifications. Didn't even remove the choke in the carburetor or re-jet it yet. I have a bunch of 21mm carbs laying about in a box, so I thought I might as well swap the carb as well as putting a pod-filter on there. Will probably get some more power in the top-end, at least I hope so. Anyway, great videos Martin, very easy to follow for someone who's never worked on a scooter before, only geared mopeds. Definitely subscribed!

    Hi Martin I’ve done a few of these Chinese scooters and I’ve found as you have no mater what you do with the rollers / clutch / belt it makes very little difference to the top end speed …the Chinese imports scooters are normally restricted via the revs via the cdi unit they work like restrictors that hgv trucks have once it hits a set speed the limiter will kick in and reduce the speed the cdi would need replacing for one without the limiter fitted or you can discount the the limiter wire ( wiring diagram needed ) this would then allow the scooter to Rev higher hence more top
    end ..Peugeot scooters have thus system just recently had one doing 34 mph did the cdi and if now hits 42 mph even with me on 15.5 stone ..keep up the videos they are Bob on

    Hey mate, I own one of these scooters and I’ve managed to get about 45mph out of it. When I first got it the rear brake caliper was seized and the brakes rubbing was causing the speed to be restricted to about 36mph. I have the stock spring in and 8g stock rollers and the take off speed is better than a stock aerox and it still hits 41-42 mph consistently. The only modification that I’ve made to my bike is a derestricted cdi unit which I ordered off of pedparts. It’s located in the battery housing. I’m about to order a derestricted yasuni Z which should push the top speed to about 50-55mph. I weigh about 72kg so I am am a bit lighter than you hah

    • @retrorestore
      @retrorestore  3 года назад

      I did fit an unrestricted CDI on it. I do think heavier weights will get it to 40+ like you said but i'll leave that to the new owner.

    • @leejardim8429
      @leejardim8429 3 года назад

      @@retrorestore Fair enough, in regards to one of your previous video on installing the new cylinder kit and the speed that you’re achieving I have to say that I really don’t believe that it was a 70cc cylinder as the bike stock makes almost 5bhp at certain RPMs and I’ve seen a lot of 70cc kits for this bike making close to 15bhp like the stage6 sports pro MKII

  • @lespaulplayer23
    @lespaulplayer23 3 года назад

    You may possibly get a different result with a different spring now that the clutch isn't slipping. I said the red spring may have been too strong but it most likely wouldn't be working to its full potential if your clutch was slipping when you had the red spring fitted. The only spring you've really tried with the new bell housing is the white spring. Just a thought, you never know 😁👌

  • @micjubba709
    @micjubba709 3 года назад

    Might be worth changing the coil to a orange performance one and performance cdi as tgb have rev limiters they kill the revs will ignition cut outs low at 7k or 8 a think i had one mate you won't get no more speed till change them and upjet the main in carb a couple sizes 7gram wieghts is fine lighter wieghts is just for acceleration should do about 45 mine did that was about 14 stone tho

  • @crumpetcatcher
    @crumpetcatcher 3 года назад

    When you upped the cylinder, did you up the exhaust? Zorsts are tuned to the capacity of the cylinder and wondering if the exhaust is restricting as 30cc up on the capacity you should be getting more than 5-6mph. Think a Vespa 90 is a 60-65mph and the Vespa PX80 again easy for 60 mph. The exhaust dictates quite a lot in the whole "fuel pump" the engine is, if it can't expel the extra burnies quick enough it restricts the inflow so you get less angry pixies exploding and less speed.

    • @retrorestore

    • @shroomskunk
      @shroomskunk 3 года назад

      Unfortunately most uk peds are restricted by gearing and obviously power. With a decent performance variator and clutch contra and pad springs, you’ll get 40-50mph with some patience

    • @shroomskunk
      @shroomskunk 3 года назад

      So… break it down… bigger variator for higher top speed, lighter weights to achieve a higher (power band) rpm, stiffer clutch pad springs to enable higher Rev engagement, contra will need experimenting with to cope with all these factors. Probably start on a soft contra

  • @patrik4357
    @patrik4357 3 года назад

    Too heavy variator weights, 7 or 7,5 grams is too much. Should be doing a lot better with about 5,5-6 grams, guessing you could hit the 40-mark quite easily with that.
