C6 Corvette Mag Ride Delete

  • I replaced my f55 mag ride shocks with z06 shocks and removed the F55 signals coming from the BCM with a Tech 2. The video is kind of limited on the removal and install of the new shocks, but there are a bunch of DIY videos doing that already on youtube.
    Some people say you can do this without the Tech 2 and use a resistor. As far as I can tell the BCM is looking for a fluctuating signal back showing a good shock. If it sees a static signal, there's something wrong with the shock and it'll throw a "service handling system" warning on the DIC.
    You can purchase the tech 2 on various sites. I purchased mine on alibaba express. Shocks were purchased on amazon.

    The magnaride shocks are awesome. It’s worth restoring the system. I would not buy a modern corvette without them. My C6 is pushing 100k miles and it’s 18 years old with the original shocks that are still working fine.

  • @Ckeehn2
    @Ckeehn2 7 лет назад +3

    Why should you do that and why did you order it that what way. The Magnetic Ride affects more than just your shocks movement and don't forget springs there is also the steering

    • @OmarBuilds
      @OmarBuilds  7 лет назад +1

      +Ckeehn2 the shocks felt like they were fading a bit so instead of replacing $1000/shock I replaced them with z06 shocks for less than $400. The interaction with all the systems is not that big of a deal, specially if you delete the function in the computer.

      Thanks Omar...I'm in the process of swapping my shocks out. Already bought both the front & back sets. Just need to install them then proceed w/ the TechII tune.

      The mag Shocks do not ever fade as long as they do not leak then they work as a brand new one would out of the box and if you were to replace you can buy them for 400 a piece the same as what you paid for your ZO6 shocks from Summit Racing

    • @OmarBuilds
      @OmarBuilds  4 года назад +1

      Yes, they were leaky. No difference from sport to touring as well. There was no $400 rtd shock when I made the video hence why I went with $45 z06 shocks.

    Hi Omar. I have an 07 c6 with magride shocks and one is totally failed. I want to replace it with z06 shocks. The yellow sticker on the z06 shocks part number is 0302855 and 10302877. Will those parts replace my z51 magride shocks on my 07?
    Please help!

    • @OmarBuilds

      $1000+ per magride shock or $100 per shock from a Z06. Big difference in price!

  • @PDavis-iq7bj

    So is this because you bought/replaced shocks and they aren't the OEM? My EXACT car got new shocks in front and I was advised by a performance shop to buy Shock absorber simulators and they'll install them and not require programming.

    • @OmarBuilds
      @OmarBuilds  5 лет назад +1

      The shocks aren't magnetic ride, just plane Z06 shocks, so I had to shut off that feature with the tech2. Do you have a sport/tour switch by the center glove box? If so you have mag ride shocks. I don't think any simulators work with the C6. You have to do it with the tech2.

      I vaguely remember that to be true on the later models. I think they have an electronic adapter for it to work.

      Yup. Just put the astrisk by it again in the tech 2 and you're good to go.

  • @frontxxrunner
    @frontxxrunner 5 лет назад

    Can anyone verify that this works on a 2008 or later C6? I've read that you need the resistors for the LS3 and that the Tech2 will not work to override/disable the magnetic control system.

    • @OmarBuilds
      @OmarBuilds  5 лет назад

      Hmm, the tech 2 is a GM tool for things like this, so I don't see why you'd need resistors? I could be wrong. Maybe if I find an 08+ and someone is willing, I'll check it out.

    Alternate title: How to ruin your Corvette. Mag ride>coilovers for a DD or mild track car.

    • @BMW_DAILY
      @BMW_DAILY 2 года назад +1

      magride is useless bro 🤣🤣 I barely use tour because it's too soft and sport feel like tour should feel. It's a weak system that leaks so it should always be replaced. Coilovers with adjustment for rebound and damping are far superior to an early 2000s suspension.
