  • This episode of Quantum Mythbusters examines why a power chair with iLevel power adjustable seat height is safe to drive while elevated up to 12 inches. Quantum consumer advocate Kiel Eigen and Director of Engineering Mike Vandeveer explain how iLevel works on a power chair. They discuss appropriate conditions for iLevel to be activated and demonstrate the safety of the chair while driving up a steep ramp while elevated.

    I'm getting the Q6 edge 3 with ilevel and I'm so excited about it, it will be nice to actually reach things and be eye level when I'm talking to someone. It's the little things in life.
    Also, I Have decided on Orange and I should have the chair soon. One question though, what are the foot straps like on these? I know I'm Going to use them a lot and I wanna make sure that they are comfortable. Especially with the neuropathy I have

    wish you would program out the slowness of the joystick when up high as its very annoying..I did find a way round it bye tie wrapping a switch under the seat but that's not really as good as it should be.. am happy with my stretto otherwise but wish we could buy a oem programmer likeRnet ourself as dealer programmers cannot do everything. ohh and is there any chance in the future of offering lithium batteries

      Hello, Interceptor batteries are available for the Q6 Edge, and these batteries provide up to 3 miles of increased range and lose charge more slowly. Also, what kind of upgrades are you referring to for your tires?

    I know that you cannot drive it while it is on the charger, common sense would tell you that LOL however will the seat functions such as leg lift, recline and tilt work while the chair is charging?
    I will be getting a Quantum Q6 edge 2.0 next month and with my condition I will be practically living in it so I am hoping that the seat functions still operate while it is being charged.

    • @QuantumRehab
      @QuantumRehab  4 года назад +1

      Hi Dave, you can use the seat functions while charging your chair. And yes, obviously, you can't drive it. Thanks!

    • @QuantumRehab
      @QuantumRehab  4 года назад +1

      Also, when charging, be sure to be aware of routing the charger cord to the chair so that it is clear of potential snags. For example, using tilt and recline with the charger cord in the way could damage the cord. Thanks!

    How much weight does the ilevel system add to the chairs?

    • @QuantumRehab
      @QuantumRehab  4 года назад

      Hello, iLevel weighs approximately 37 pounds, and this weight is added to the weight of other components (tilt, recline) that are chosen to make up the TRU-Balance 3 seating system on the chair.

    Can the chair with ilevel feature get into a van on the driver side?

    • @QuantumRehab
      @QuantumRehab  5 лет назад

      Hello, this would depend on several factors. What kind of van, what components are on the power chair, etc. Before purchasing an iLevel power chair, it's important to discuss this with your provider to make sure that if you want to be able to transport the power chair, that you have an appropriate accessible vehicle to do so.

  • @rayadamick8245
    @rayadamick8245 4 года назад

    Make sure it’s WC-19 compliant, the 4 Front is not. Meaning tieing down a chair in a Van might not be safe

    • @quantumrehab5932
      @quantumrehab5932 4 года назад

      Hi Ray, the Quantum 4FRONT is WC-19 compliant, please see the below link for the University of MI Transport Research Institute. This site lists the compliant power wheelchairs and seating systems.

    What does ilevel mean?

    • @QuantumRehab
      @QuantumRehab  3 года назад

      iLevel raises the seat of the wheelchair up to 12 inches in height. This allows consumers to participate in daily living activities. You can learn more here www.quantumrehab.com/ilevel-power-chairs/

    • @QuantumRehab

    Try to turn at high speed!
    You will end up on a side

    • @QuantumClinician
      @QuantumClinician 5 лет назад

      Hello, actually, our power chairs with iLevel utilize a speed inhibit for safety. When the chair is elevated, the maximum speed that a chair can go is 4.5 mph on the Edge 3, and 3.5 mph on the Q6 Edge 2.0, Q6 Edge Z and Q6 Edge HD.
      Furthermore, even at maximum speed, when the eating system actuator is started, the iLevel boots inhibit movement of the front caster wheels, which reinforces stability of the chair.
