@@BRStv not trying to be a dick. I'm going to be buying a g5 but I am waiting on the last video to drop before I make my decision on pro or blue. And I'm just frustrated and this will be my first time ever buying light brand new. Sorry if I came off as a dick.
Can you guys please make a investigation in to diffrent spectrums of Light for coral growth ?? There is a nice discussion going on right now at www.reef2reef.com also with Dana Riddle about lower light better growth or diffrent spectrums for diffrent lights. Can you please check if , 1. Royal Blue to White 3:1 Ratio (Most common in tanks) 2. Normal blue to white 3:1 Ratio 3. Pure royal blue: (Or RB to B 3:1 ratio. Will this cause diatom blooms?) Have different growths over time ?
These tests are great, thanks for posting. One issue I find with the testing though is when you start the multi fixtures. When your adding 3, you may actually be able to lower them a few inches and space them less far apart. This should result in less spill to the room, and give you the ability to run the lights at a lower setting.
Thanks for a more in depth look at the Atlantik compact. My Atlantik and compact will be joined by two Orphek bars soon. Plenty of videos on my channel.
I so wish they would redo the app man. The V4's I have are awesome lights and hands down better then the Gen 3 pros they replaced. It's just the app is glitchy and a pain to make actual changes to the light. Not to mention the constant gateway not communicating issues. I have had to deal with them a few times for app related issues (Android) and was told to try an Apple product lmao. I advised them I will not be using an Apple product. I still dream of a new user friendly app though 😁
Agree 1000%! The app is horrible and it's not even in the app store now. Tried to post comments in Orphek Facebook group but the admins won't post them! I'm fed up!
I love my atlantik compact v4. The hardware is excellent. However many of us owners have a similar complaint that the controlling app is just no good. There has been no indication from Orphek that they plan to improve their app which is disheartening.
The app is a major problem and they refuse to address it. The hardware might be better now but the Gen1 Atlantik LEDs were burning out in less than a year! Had to replace some of the blue/uv diodes in my 2017 Compact twice now!!
If you're using the data from the 3 light fixtures over our 48" test tank, that would mean the middle fixture on center, then the right and left fixtures 11.25" away from the edges of the tank.
@@BRStv one more query. I have 2 compacts. SPS dominant tank, but a 40B 36x18 I was going to space them 22” apart or 7” from the edge. I can only get 14” high mounted based on tank location. Do yes this make sense?
Hi BRS Team - great Video !! I plan a shallow lagoon reef with a 55x20“ footprint , just 14“ of height. (140x55x35cm) Can I use 2 V4 Compacts there for my LPS-only goal if I mount them 16“-18“ above the water ? I got 2 OR3 90 Blue Plus already on my current tank . Thanks a lot Greetings sebi

We like to think of gear in terms of "right tool for the right job" rather than "best", specifically because each reefer has different goals and nearly every lighting option is capable of sustaining coral. This is exactly why we have started this light testing journey so that reefers like you can have the data and information you need to make an informed decision on which light will best serve your specific goals.
The mounting brackets work best with rimmed tanks, but they do include some plastic shims that can help mount them to rimmed tanks. Honestly, you may need to do a little modification to the rim where you plan on installing the mounts, but it can be done.
I'm truly not understanding how BRS came up with those part numbers, at that settings. I recently did rent a par meter.. my settings are channel one 20%, channel two and three at 100%, and channel four at 15%.. I'm getting a par of 400 on top.. Am I missing something?
Really wish ( I bet a lot of us would) that you guys would do a video on the ReefBreeders v2+ 24” Par readings On maybe a 40Breeder or similar size tank.
I'm pretty sure the team is looking at a few new lighting options to add to our selection. I can assure you that nearly every light option on our site will eventually get the "works" for investigates tests like these! :)
The housing of the Qmaven might be a bit deceiving in this regard, but when you look at the underside of it each "cluster" of LEDs is really only about 6"inches by 6"inches. In the larger Qmaven's they have the same LED "cluster", but use two or three of them to cover longer areas. However the Orphek Compact has LED spanning nearly all of the 13"inches by 9"inches footprint.
Hi. I am an orphek user in SouthKorea. This video is really helpful. Can I add Korean subtitles and introduce it to Korea through my RUclips? Of course, I will leave the original source. Thanks😁

If you're looking at the SPS tank example over a 4ft tank, three Orpheks are almost a couple hundred bucks less than our recommendation for three G5 XR30 Pros or Blues. however we also found that Four G5 XR15 Blues was able to achieve the same PAR goals for the same tank, which winds up being less costly than the Orpheks and the XR30s.
I'd recommend you spend a bit more and go with Radions. There's a reason they are almost industry standards. I have been running the Compact for 3 years. I made the wrong choice 3 years ago.

Customer service was great and sent me replacements free of charge but was a hassle having to do it twice! The third time, I opted to purchase a complete Gen 2 PC Board. So far so good but I hear from people that the Gen 2 lights will also burn out. This is not acceptable from a $700+ light! There are many complaints with the App that runs the light and they refuse to update it. Not sure what's going on but the App isn't even in the Google Play store anymore. Lastly, the selling point back then was they had red and infrared diodes. Now i think the reds and infrared wavelengths are completely unnecessary and may even prevent coral growth! Knowing what I know now, I'd never bought these.

Unpopular opinion but I am just not impressed with these lights. You can clearly see the disco effect going on. Many owners try to convince others they don't have the disco effect but this video and my own eyes say otherwise. I also had a terrible interaction with a former Orphek distributor. At least, I hope he isn't the distributor still. No way these lights should ever be put in the ranks of the Radion or even Kessils. Sorry, not sorry.
This is exactly my problem with all led lights, I would never slightly consider a light that had disco ball effect, I have 3 gen 3 pros with diffusers from my last tank that I'm waiting to use on my new build, I wouldn't use them without diffusers..... not sure if you need them with the gen 5s as I haven't seen them in person, if I was going to buy new it would be gen 5s or kessil, as far as I'm aware these two are the only LEDs out there that dont have disco ball effect.

Another nice video with more solid data!
One minor correction - a 2’ x 2’ tank is 4 square feet, not 2!
The stock lens are 120° you can order them a smaller angle to throw deeper into the tank. Max distance is 30+ feet deep.
Joe Villavicencio those are not 120° lenses. No light with 120° lenses would need to be raised to 16” to get a decent spread.
