Thank you soo much. i've looked all over youtube for a video like this and there is nothing good. I have some combos i need to change on a couple AmSecs
One trick I use when changing a combination is to put a bit of electrical tape over the top mark. So that you don't get muddled up when setting a new combination. Don't forget the other rules numbers must be at least 5 digits apart and the last digit should be at least 10 away from the unlock number 0/25/50/75 depending on what it is on your safe. 😀
The electrical tape is the key. You get so used to dialing to the normal stop that it's just natural to be drawn to it. A little tape and I was good to go
Robert, We would love for you to make a video for changing the combination on a S&G 8500 series high security lock! Thanks for considering this new task!!!!
Any help is appreciated...this video helped me successfully change the combination (I tested it 3 times with success as well), however, I cannot get the dial to move anywhere besides through the 80 and 90s. I can lock and unlock but only if it's back on 80? I can't get my key to turn either. Not sure what's happening.
With door open and messing with the combination, put a 2x4x 3’ long in the safe KEEPING THE DOOR FROM CLOSING! With a long enough 2x4 in the opening of the safe keeping the door from closing, do all your messing with the dial the combination until after locking it (with2x4 keeping door from closing) and manipulating the dial you successfully cause the handle to open the bolts - at least 5 complete times - also have another person do the combination, and successfully have the handle turn to retract the bolts - have person do this at least 3 times successfully. THEN and only then remove the long 2x4 that then allows the door to close to lock it. If you don’t understand this , don’t mess with your combination lock safe. There’s a misconception that a ‘locksmith’ can open your dial combination safe if you close door and lock it without successfully testing combination WITH DOOR OOEN. Wrong. No one can open your safe with the dial if you’ve screwed up the dial combination and lock a closed door!
If you have two Yale assure locks in the same room, can you use one Wi-Fi module for the two door? Do you need a Wi-Fi module if you are using Apple homekit hub with Bluetooth range?
Call the manufacturer of the safe. See if they will ship you an override key and give you directions to reset the combo. If that doesn't work take the door into a locksmith shop and they can do it for you.
I inherited a safe. I don't have the old combination, but it IS OPEN. Can I still create a new combination, without knowing the old one, on an open safe?
Is it possible to change the combination if you dont know the current one? Im wondering if someone drilled a small hole in the safe could someone stick a tool in the combination key hole and change it to something else? I wondering if i should put tape or something in front of that rekey hole
Someone can always drill a hole in the safe but you can't follow this combination change video if you don't know the current combination to the safe. It's not only required as part of the change process but you need to open the safe so that you can get to the back of the lock where you insert the change key. So there's no reason to put tape over the change key hole.
Hey 👋 so I did this and the new number works. But now it won’t spin and stay locked. It just moves between 2 number and slides the lock in and out. But it will not spin and lock. Do you know what might be causing this? And I can’t reset it because I can’t spin it 😮 Thanks
You probably set the last number in the forbidden zone. This was not discussed in this video. If the last number is set between 0-20, the lock will get stuck when dialed open, depending on the brand.
Depends on what type of lock you have. Here's the S&G change key on Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B078YDX1WL/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_gl_i_33F590Y9CNXTHCCNF07F?linkCode=ml2&tag=acmelocksmithyt-20

Great tip! I should have included that!

The last digit should be at leat 10 away from the "unlock number"? which is the unlock number? is just a 3 sets of numbers right?

Same process.

My Gardal that I bought for the office didn’t come with a change key! Where do I find one?

Do you need a Wi-Fi module if you are using Apple homekit hub with Bluetooth range?
Questions that detailed are going to be best served by talking to Yale customer support. I've never used the setup in either of these ways.
Hello how's everything What is the name of that key did you say "change key" ?
Can you buy the change key? Or do I need to hire a locksmith??
You should be able to pick them up online. Just search for the brand of lock you have.
Is it possible for a safe dial lock like this to have 2 different combinations to open it?
Nope.
I have safe with opened door, locked is block, I don’t have key, I don’t know code. I have access to key hole. Is anything what can I do myself?
Call the manufacturer of the safe. See if they will ship you an override key and give you directions to reset the combo. If that doesn't work take the door into a locksmith shop and they can do it for you.
are dial combos more or less effective to keep burglars out as compared to other style locks?
We wrote the article on it. www.acmelocksmith.com/safe-dial-vs-electronic-lock/
Will this work for a liberty safe mechanical combo?
Should.
I inherited a safe. I don't have the old combination, but it IS OPEN. Can I still create a new combination, without knowing the old one, on an open safe?
Yes. You'll need to have a locksmith out or take the door into a locksmith shop. They can reset the lock and put in a new combination for you.
Where can I get a change key for my LaGuard tumbler lock?
Amazon. amzn.to/3ePAEVQ I do get a small affiliate commission if you buy using that link.
@@LocksmithRecommended ok Thanks

My safe doesnt have hole
Where can I get the change key? Struggling to find one for my Sentry D880 Safe
It looks like the same key hole you show in the video
Contact sentry
Hello good afternoon
I was chenging my saf combination
But I messed
Could you please help
Thank you very much
Call a local locksmith. 👍
What causes all the comb numbers to shift one number? Ie : 35-45-55 is now 34-44-54....
It's called drift. Have a locksmith service your dial. Before it drifts so far off that you won't be able to get in.

It is, but it's much more difficult. Take it to a locksmith.
Someone can always drill a hole in the safe but you can't follow this combination change video if you don't know the current combination to the safe. If you can, lift the door off the hinged and take it to a locksmith shop. Something has definitely gone wrong there.
You probably set the last number in the forbidden zone. This was not discussed in this video. If the last number is set between 0-20, the lock will get stuck when dialed open, depending on the brand.
@@LockpickingLoser Valid
so there's no way to do this without knowing the exsisting combo? even if the door is already open?
If the door is open you would have to decode the existing combo in order to change it. A locksmith can do that for you.
There are RUclips video's that cover the topic, sorry don't know any off hand.
Where can you get a change key?
If your safe didn't come with one, you'd have to order it for the dial you have.
Where can buy this changing key?
Depends on what type of lock you have. Here's the S&G change key on Amazon.

Mine has to be pushed in on a 4th number then turned to the right until it stops.
That is another style. This type is the most popular. Thanks for watching.
@@LocksmithRecommended ok. How do I change my style of combo?
@@onesilentarrow you'd have to change the lock itself.
What if I don't have the combo?...
If the safe is locked you will need to drill it. If the safe is open a locksmith can come and set a new code for you.
Will this work on a SentrySafe? I don't see a change index, but it does look like there is a hole on the back of the door behind the dial.
Maybe. A lot of sentry safed will not let you set to any combination, you have to use one of the presets values. Just depends on which one you have.
Well I know know what that second index mark is for!
