- In today's video, we are a mile into Cornwall in a town called Launceston. Launceston happens to have a castle and I like filming these places so I thought I'd come and have a look around, see what the history behind this place is. As it turns out it had quite the reputation as a prison.
Welcome to our history channel, run by those with a real passion for history & that's kind of it.

Please like the video to please the mighty washing machine.
May its rinse cycle wash over us all!
Big up the complimentary Stella.
That’s class.
I came from VTH.
I stayed because y'all are great.
I commented because I love Cornish history and want to ask you to make more videos about it
Well we've got this video & Tintagel Castle. I have some footage from the Jamaica Inn up on Bodmin Moor, but I don't know if there's enough to turn around a video - I'll do my best to research and see if it is viable. As for more than that, will have to wait until I'm next in Cornwall.
@@DecadesVideos Thanks for the response! I really enjoyed the Tintagel Castle video as well!
@@ramsesflores7743 I'll do my best to get that Jamaica Inn idea developed, if not we'll definitely be back in Cornwall.
As an American, do allow me to express the obligatory (but still true) envy of the fact that you can basically throw a dart at a map and hit a castle.
There are too many to ever make content on all of them (however, we'll do our best as the years go by), but they're concentrated in particular areas over others, from where we live we have an hour at least in any direction before we reach a castle which sounds close but for England it's quite a trek when you consider how many towns, people and slow, narrow roads one must travel past and down to reach. Plenty of UK areas have no signs of this history but if you wish to seek it out, it's never too far to visit one in a day trip.
Nothing is pronounceable as it seems in Cornwall. There's Nookie, Snozzle, Snives and Ben's Pants.
Appreciate the pronunciation. Been pronouncing it wrong for years
Dun-hev-ved not Dun heave ed!!…thats a back alley with all the machines behind a electric shop waiting to be collected!!Launsssston!!😂😂😂
We have a Launceston in Northern Tasmania. Locals insist on pronouncing it "Lawn-ces-ten." Don't know were they get that idea. Maybe it's a remnant of an early 19th century pronunciation.
As a resident you can call it Launceston but the farmers call it Lanson.
Can you do a story within Cork County maybe the old area of Kingdom of Munster?
Might be a good idea, want to get over to Ireland sometime and do loads of content on stuff over there as is
@@DecadesVideos Love these videos about history aswell as the main channels, can’t wait to see what else you have in store.
can't wait to show you! @@mr.4.898
When you go to the top of the castle you can take in the lovely views of the social housing estates of Ridgegrove and Lanstephen where you can generally purchase any drugs you desire 😂
Love history , and the castle thankyou
Cheers!
Great vid man. You really dont get the views you deserve!
I appreciate that, we'll get there eventually with any luck!

@@DecadesVideos The emphasis was on the "who" part.
