    Dude! Your semi sarcastic frustration with your shop and your pet peeves about yourself, all remind me of myself. Great ideas, nice welds "be sure to leave your drill chips on the table, so they get stuck in your arm." Great instruction with a commentary I can relate to. KK

    Got some ideas from your vid.
    I like it because it’s materials that I can find, and not professional grade expensive.
    If I had $4k to spend on a table, I likely would need to watch this channel for ideas.
    Thumbs up.

    One tip when using S-hooks to hang things…if it’s like my bbq grill’s hooks, I knock those off every time I take something off them. A zip tie can help close the end to keep it hooked.

    Great video. I like these ideas and will likely try some myself. I like the vice mount, as I would never have thought of that myself. I think that I would add some triangular bracing to the mount under the table. I like to beat on stuff in the vice and I think the bracing would help keep the welds from cracking.

    I picked up the same welding table from Vevor. I ended up paying $105 dollars for it. It is "ok" for what it is. I found a 3" jaw Wilton Bullet vise at a consignment shop for cheap and bolted that to mine. The table is perfect to wheel out side and do dirty work on so you don't get your rust dust, grinding, dust, and dirt in your shop.

  • @MeanderLife
    @MeanderLife Месяц назад +3

    Putting mine together soon... Suggestion... the clamping bolt on the receiver underneath placed on a flat side only holds well in one direction. IF you put the clamp bolt on a corner pointed towards the opposite corner... it will push the 2" into the opposite corner and hold both ways... Good job tho!

    I have the Harbor Freight table. I installed wheels and bolted the shelf support to the legs because they only had tabs to hold it in. I want to put a shelf under (I am thinking concrete board) but I am struggling with how to keep all the clamping/fixturing pieces out of the way, organized and easy to grab. I love your cross brace idea for those twisty flimsy legs. I have also used mine for wood working setup and gluing.

    Agree on the HF table... thicker top (although you will need to do work to flatten it, as the frame underneath the top plate was warped on mine) and a L channel lower frame that I dropped a 1/8" steel plate into for holding equipment and tools. I did have to cut and reweld the lower frame because it was not square. Overall, this really helped a lot in squaring and stabilizing the table. In addition, I added the Home Depot steel pegboard to hold tools and welding magnets, and a plasma cutter water pan mount to the table to save space in my shop. Pretty happy in how it turned out.

    I have one of these and the first thing I did was take the longer front lower brace and moved it closer to middle so I can get my legs or a stool at least halfway under it. Then I put metal roofing material on lower back and sides to detour sparks from getting to far ( paranoia I guess ) I will do similar on top with angled sides I think using something stronger that won't flex and maybe make it quickly removable. Kinda like your vise idea. I do need to make bottom sturdier for sure

    Great ideals, Dave! Vertical vice/tool mount is awesome!
    Since the Vevor/HB tables are so inexpensive, would it be worth buying 2 of them (or more) and laying one on top of the other effectively doubling the thickness and weight of the table? They could be skip-welded together for rigidity. This,of course, is assuming (aw-ohhh!) that the tables are identical with the holes drilled in the exact same place. It might not be worth the trouble if you could buy a 1/4" thick table of the same dimensions for $350-$400.

    That table top is a bit on the thin side for the clamps to stay vertical. It also doesn't help that these holes are 16mm instead of 5/8"..... sooooo yeah, that's why your clamps get canted at 30 or so degrees from vertical.

    Cool video. What is the small rectangle box you have zipped tied to the tig hose? Does a foot pedal require that? Curious because I have a welding machine but haven't gotten into tig yet, usually just use the mig and stick but it has tig capability and I'm really thinking about getting a bottle and foot pedal and giving it a go and I don't think I have seen any other tig set ups with that small box like you have. I also watched a video that said to save money on bench dogs just use 5/8 shoulder bolts and cut off the threads. Found them on eBay only for 40 bucks for like 5. Not a money saver when I can just buy 5/8 dogs on Amazon for way cheaper. Thinking about reaming the holes to 3/4 or 19mm cuause it seems like wood working bench dogs would also fit and I already have those in metal of course.
