Without question one of my favourite types of videos. From out in the filed to the finished article with all of the steps. I am always intrigued to know how photographers go about processing their images. I learned a few things that will help inspire my photography. What's even better is showing how great images can be had no matter what the weather conditions throw at you. This video goes straight into my photography playlist as I learned something, thanks Adam!
Thanks Adam you are a whiz on the computer. I'm 55 and can still walk and climb those hills you just have to stay fit eat right and be blessed with good health! I hope to see you still hiking up and down those hills at 65.
Ahhhh. God's own country. I've walked around there many a time. Great photography and great tips. I now live in Thailand so that brought back many happy memories for me. Thank you, Adam.
This video comes at the absolutely right time! Weather is really bad here and after looking it i found the motivation to go out tomorrow morning. Thank you for sharing!
when you're out walking alone there's no shame being defeated by a trail, I'd rather walk an extra 2 miles than risk scrabbling up wet scree. awesome images, thanks Adam 👍
I love shooting in bad weather. I actually often prefer flat light, fog, haze, misty rain. Your message in the intro is spot on. In my own photography, my goal is education and inspiration regarding the outdoors and natural world. I feel if I can convince one person to go for a hike, experience the outdoors, I have accomplished something. I like the videos where you take an image and then process it. My tastes are a bit different but watching and hearing your mindset as you process really helps me better understand how to shape mood into an image. Very nice video Adam.
Thanks Philip. It's definitely a processing style very different from what I normally do but I am also looking for new a creative avenues. Really appreciate your comment and thoughts.
Once I was thirty-seven years old my momma told me go make yourself some friends because you’re too old for landscape photography. I preferred the second image and I love dramatic images taken in bad weather.
Very enjoyable Adam, agree you need to get out no matter what the weather to get to know a location. The conditions you had looked familiar to what I get in Ireland.
Hi Adam. You've delivered a really important message at the beginning of your video. Encouraging folks to become interested in our environment is more important than ever. Enjoyed seeing your editing process - never fails to impress. Love the finished image ! On a personal note, a couple of years ago, me and the better half sat in that exact spot after walking from Goredale Scar to Malham Tarn and were lucky enough to be able to watch the Peregrines as we ate our sarnies. An unforgettable memory. Thanks for taking us with you on this outing. P.S. You delivered another really important message at the end of the video as well !!!
Good one Adam. The point about communicating what you feel through your photograph hits home right away. Thank you also for walking through the image processing.
Excellent video. I know that part of Yorkshire really well and those weather conditions are very familiar. I have often found myself uninspired and not bothered going out thinking my images are just going to end up rather flat and boring. I think that’s partly due to my lack of knowledge of how to use Lightroom’s image processing tools so your demo has helped me a lot. Thanks a lot for inspiring me. Your channel is brilliant. Keep it up.
Loved the style of images you've been posting this week Adam and as always it is interesting to see how images can be developed in lightroom to achieve a certain look. Hope you workshop this weekend went well
I really like the dramatic processing employed here. One thing I notice you didn't do with the graduated filter was to use the Range Mask tool to restrict your adjustments just to the sky, thereby preventing them bleeding into the distant landscape below.
Great video Adam. I hope you are feeling a bit better by now. My stomach lurched when that gust of wind nearly blew your camera over. I always struggle to see a composition in bad light but I loved your editing style and I will definitely be trying this myself. Thanks very much. Got it as a saved video now.
Another good wee instructional video Adam and always nice to see you creating something in less than favourable conditions. Our inclement weather very often puts many, including myself off going out but you have once again proved it can be done and it's all about getting out and about. Thanks for sharing, keep well.
Really enjoyed this video, top tips there and the right time of year to use them so thanks, I really should get myself down to the Yorkshire Dales, that looked stunning. 👍
Great tutorial. Will definitely be using that method in the coming weeks. I'm in Harrogate so a trip to Malham not out of the question. And it seems that weather type is currently settling in.
Nice to see a different way of editing images which isn't all saturation and clarity boosting, almost looks like you shot it on film. Don't forget the X-T3 !!
I couldnt agree more! Enjoying the outdoors is so many varying conditions truely allows you to appreciate the world that we live in. Such a great insight and attitude towards what it means to be a landscape photographer. Ahh I see you're editing back in Lightroom?
Hi Adam ... great Vlog. I struggle to find a good way to get keepers after bad beather shoots .. your suggestions will give me a few more ideas for post processing.
In my opinion going B&W would have been beneficial for this particular image. All the interest is in the cliff and its curve, and you also said that you don't like the greens. Still, great video as always, looking forward to a new one! Cheers
Cannot believe I am the first to comment......enjoyed this very much and you taught me how to use the preset also in Lightroom, always something new to learn.....now I just need to take an image to somewhere nice to master it....thanks Adam
Recently discovered your videos. Very good presentation, straightforward dialogue clear instructions and very good image visualisation. Well done keep going, I'll keep watching. :-)
Hi Adam. Great workflow editing. I know you're taking in the ' mood' and grey conditions but I'd probably have upped the saturation to give more colour myself. Keep them coming!! - thanks, JA
Another fab video Adam. I'm with you on dislike for greens and like how you have processed the image. Did you visualise this processing when taking the shot as I try to do that more and more, I.e what processing will I do here
I would like to see you do that in Capture One 12. There's a video on the Capture One channel about split tone/dual tone in Capture One 11, I think it will get the effect you're after. Radial grads are in, they can be asymmetric. So can regular gradients. You can erase gradients, that has been in for a long time. It's about equivalent to your brushing in exposure adjustment to undo the soft gradient on the hilltops.
Another great video. I've recently subscribed and really enjoying catching up on your videos. Very talented and knowledgable, hopefully I can take some of your thoughts into my photography and improve. Thanks for taking the time to do this channel :-)
Really cool to see that place again, iv not been there in 13 years.. went there on a school trip😀 but with me now living in Norway im not sure if id even go there again,, Anyway i loved the shot and the editing on it 😊
Not sure I share your enthusiasm for cold wet weather, Adam. Great pic as always, though. Something completely off topic: are we ever going to get a demonstration of your guitar playing?
Less than 2 minutes in and I feel so old... ;-D I've got some images I shot walking around town in the falling snow last week that I'll have to apply a few of these techniques to.
Good to see how you proceed with your images after. I have been asked to do it but it’s not my thing. Great shot I love them conditions lol I am heading up to Huddersfield on the 18th maybe the 17th for a night do you fancy a meet up on the 18th at all
Hi Adam, thanks for the video and specially the written epilog, I fully acknowledge! Please tell us how you handle it, YT does not come up with that 99.99% useless video suggestions at the end of your videos, but shows up the last frame (at least on iPad 12” running iOS 12.x.y). Thanks for help in advance
Looks like a grad filter would be a great starting point for this image, to knock down the clouds, keep some more dynamic range available in-camera... Or, has everyone just forgotten about how useful grad filters can be? ;-)
I love Goredale, Malham and most of the Dales..... if only I didn't live in Woking..... it is awful :-) And I'm 60, but I don't let that slow me down, any weather in the Dales beats Woking. Great video

All sympathy for you Adam but get a grip dude, you're 37 not 73! Just pulling your leg, It was great to see you act in such a responsible way, it's often too easy to go so far up a trail and then decide to push on because you don't want to retrace your steps and start the day again, next thing you know you're in trouble and Mountain rescue are putting themselves in harms way! Great tips on the edit, I often use a radial filter now and really like the de-saturated look, see you soon Del.
Hi Adam, great vlog as usual, I always look forward to Sunday evenings and a bit of 1st man vlogging. However, I have a small niggle! I dont know if its just me but the Info blast at the end of the video is covered by your logo in the bottom left of screen and a vlog suggestion window in the top left of screen. And so I couldn't read it. Anyway keep up the good work and hope you feel better soon. Cheers Derek
