I just picked up the XR18 for corp and conference use. My primary goal was to get as many sub mixes so that I can get a series of mix-minus. It also will double as part of sound reinforcement for different events we have. The remote setup of this system keeps me from having to use long runs to a corner of a room. Watching your video presentations really shows just how much of a powerhouse this is. I am barely scraping the surface of the X18's capabilities. I can't wait to dig in further and utilize some of the advanced ducking, comps and gates to help keep things clean. Thanks for the video's. I'll be watching them all.
I got one of these from Sweetwater . Total game changer. After a very short learning curve, had it up and running. It replaced my Makie 1604 VLZ and a rack full of EQs & FX. 65lbs of gear gone ! I control it with my Lap top and will get an Ipad soon .
Fantastic presentation Phil! I learned so much today and can't wait to get an X Air 18! Looking forward to your upcoming videos especially about digging down into separate channels and EQ, etc. Well done and keep up the good work! :)
So much to enjoy with so little price. At least, until the cash shows up for the purchase of X32, We better head in this direction. Please in case Behringer wishes to build an assembly plant in Africa, Kindly look towards Nigeria. We are your big fan . .. Thanks a lot for making digital audio tech affordable for us... Have ordered for my X Air 18 already. Can't just wait to get my hands on it
Hey Phil, you mentioned the use of auto mix for instruments in another video. Specifically Bass and Kick. Would love to have you go more into the various uses of auto mix feature sometime. Meanwhile, thanks for all of your videos! I’m an old analog guy who was a monitor engineer throughout the 80’s. Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks. I love the X-Air 18! It does what cost thousands of dollars back in the day.
Got the XR18 for band rehearsal and live gigging incl. recording the show. I absolutely love it! I would like to get one of the smaller devices for my duo gigs but its a shame that the recording feature is not there. Would be great if it would be added!
+Jürgen Moßgraber You can record all your audio inputs to stereo 2-track mix directly to the XR16/XR12 using to a USB Drive, it just won't be a multitrack recording.
thanks Phil we bought xr18 for church and we love it! we are all volunteers and its so intuitive to use the software the favourite part is we are running the xair edit software with a raspberry pi 2 on a 24 inch monitor which looks gorgeous and works flawlessly, thinking of buying 3 x turbosound iq15 speakers and connecting via ultranet 2 for front of house and one as fold back monitor, what do u think? cheers sandy
+sandy anderson The TURBOSOUND iQ Speakers sound excellent and would be a sound investment for your church. Setup is a breeze and the quality of sound coming from the speakers is top notch!
+BEHRINGER thanks Phil took your advice and purchased 3 x turbosound iq15 they are quite simply awesome. all connected to xr18 via cat 5 ultranet that delivers pristine sound with no hiss/interference don't even need a separate sub because they are so well balanced thanks sandy
The QSC TouchMix16 can do “multitrack” and “2-track” to a usb drive at the same time. It has 16 channels, plus 2 stereo inputs (for phone/laptop), it has 6 AUX (monitor) out along with 2 stereo outputs over 1/4 jack. Plus it has a touch screen interface that looks exactly like the app, and is much more simple than these. It also comes with QSC speaker/amplifier presets
Hey Phil; Thanks for another brilliant demo video. Would you use an XR18 as your main mixer, in a Cubase home-studio? Space is becoming an issue in mine and I could see an XR18 replacing my bulky analog mixer, rackmount sound cards, patchbays, etc.... Would you switch to an XR in your own home studio?
Hey JL B, sorry this is not Phil himself answering, but I have MR18 which is the Midas version of XR18 and use Cubase at home to record. It works great so far, however there will be a bit of a learning curve (watching the videos by Phil from Behringer) Other than that, it saves space for sure and maybe you could sell those analog mixer and sound cards for other gear :)
I do realize that this was 5 years ago and probably whatever would be done is done. But, if using for a studio, if you want to stick with this interface and features, I would recommend the MR series. MR12, MR16, MR18 which are product offerings that parallel the XR / X Air series, but with Midas preamps, which give a better sound quality in the end.
Great presentation! I'm really digging the X-Air line! Thinking about getting the XR12 or the XR16 for my band. We use REAPER as a click track source aswell as for midi-syncing our stuff. I'm wondering if its possible to feed the click via USB right from REAPER to the mixer. Does REAPER recognize the USB-port as output, or how do I make it work? Most optimal would be sending from the DAW to the X-Air mixer (running on the same PC) without connecting to the hardware unit via USB, but that's not possible I suppose ;)
+Heinabaumstamm You can certainly do this with Reaper, just specify which track contains the click track you want to send to your mixer, make sure that track is output routed properly within your DAW, and then Select a channel in your X AIR controller software / app that you want this track present in your mix. Setting your X AIR's USB channel can be done from the Input section of our control software.
my question is long. im wanting to buy this for a band use. the xr 18 with the 2 phantom power box is what im looking at. im wanting to run 2 axe fx and a di on a bass amp with one vocal and im going to be using mounted mics in drums to get the drums and 2 over heads with a high hat mic as well. ( snare bass tom 1 tom 2) is there a way with the app ( i have an ipad and android phone, i know the two apps are slightly different) to aux out to in ears and pan both the overheads for drums and the left right guitar? sorry for the long question but guitar center and other music stores cant answer my questions.

Hey. I recently purchased the XR12 and I have downloaded the app on my IPad and on my Mac book. However, the layouts are different. I know its probably easy to manoeuvre, but why are the layouts different?
Hello, you say around you are studying a solution to interface two units xr18 controllable by an interface to have 32 input channels. this news is true? it would be great!
Hi guys I'm starting almost from zero, nearly zero! Is there a video manual of the x air edit software for the the X Air Mixer series? Thank you heaps!!!
I would like to find out what the firmware version is on my XR18 I am using Android tablet. In the software I see no mention of the firmware version I purchased this unit four years ago and I am just now beginning work with it and would like to update the firmware before I get to far along. Thanks Lee
Would it be possible to save the Chanels sitting ,so when I shot off the power then I teround it back it’s not going to start over , Specially when I lose Wi-Fi connection
Hi Phil, First of all, thanks for putting together a great, informative and entertaining video. I have a (loaded) question for you: Let's say I have a regular gig where I use 4 microphones and one stereo track. But I need to have quick and ready access to the compressor, AUX sends, FX returns, compression and master volume. Is there a way to "hide" certain channels so you can only see what you normally use in the main screen, without having to change pages?
+Carlos Molina You could always use a customer user layer in the X AIR EDIT Software, you can set this up by clicking the "UTILITY" button in the top right hand corner of X AIR EDIT. You can also create a custom layer using your Android control device currently by accessing the "layers" menu in the setting of the X AIR App.
Hi Phil grate video! I love the software that you did for the X18. I would go fore one if it would be possible to connect a S16 to the X18. I have a x32 and for sum gigs it would be perfect. I hope that you are also bringing the FLOATING WINDOWS to the X32 Software. That would be grate and I could get me a x32 Rack and I will be Happy :-)) Will this be happen? Maybe it wold be grate to have only one Software for the X18 and X32.
Hi I have an xr18 and I would like to know is there a way to get software for my HP laptop so I can connect to it and I also need a router to connect to it by ethernet cable? I'm pretty new to this thanks
at about 45 minutes this is addressed but I want to make sure i understand. On the Xr18 I CAN NOT use a USB A to B adapter and do a simple non tracked recording . I must attach a computer and do a fully tracked recording . Can you confirm. Often it would be great to just take a recording of all channels summed to one file. Great video by the way
Just to confirm, yes that is correct. It needs to record to DAW software, which can be either 18/18 or 2/2 individual channels, selectable in your Audio/Midi setting of X AIR EDIT.
Thank you, I ended up going with the X16 because I wanted to do a simple 2 track with usb with out the need for a computer.. It has b been working great so far
I saw your other video about multi channel recording straight back to ipad via another app, my question is what is recorded, is it the dry channels or after going through all the eqs n effects set up from the xair app?
Hey Phil; Great demo video. Thank you very much. I will purchase the XR18 and i have one question. Will it be possible to use the motor faders from the Alesis Mastercontrol with the X-Air software? With Midi? Best regards from germany.
Thanks Micha! Yes X AIR Faders can be controlled via MIDI using the provided implementation chart in the X AIR product documentation and an external MIDI device.
Hi there, is it possible to run the XR12 X-Air to a power amp and then run passive speakers/monitors/wedges from it? I know it may seem self-explanatory but I said I better ask in advance as it needs to be specific to my own set-up. The reason I ask is because I've an idea of connecting it to an INUKE 1000 for acoustic gigs and I already have great passive speakers and floor monitors so I'd rather spend my money on the above gear only. Thanks.
Yes absolutely! All outputs of X AIR are Line Level signals so they can easily be fed to active speakers or a power amp like the iNUKE in conjunction with a set of passive speakers without need anything else.
I have a macbook pro Mid 2015 and when i attach the xr18 to record all 18 channels, simultaneously using it as a controller; it tends to lag. I have an i7 (2.5ghz base clocked, turbo upto 3.6 ghz) with16gb of ram and 500gb flash storage. The only way that I've found to overcome this is to use my laptop to record and control the xr18 with my phone. Is there any other way to overcome this?
The Ultranet port is proprietary and for in-ear monitoring requires substantial additional investment. Since you have router connection capabilities, are there any apps that can stream OP to phones that could use headphones or Bluetooth to control a private mix ? Otherwise, why connect a good external router? Multiple controls? I want more !!
+Lyle Allen Connecting an external router makes the X AIR future-proof with regards to wireless capabilities. As the technology of Wireless routers improves so can the wireless connectivity of the X AIR Mixers. This also also makes X AIR capable of handling more control devices simultaneously hooked up the your mixer during shows and leaves the option open for more robust security settings. Our control software / apps only control the X AIR Mixers, no audio actually passes through the apps. To stream audio wirelessly via bluetooth or otherwise you would need an external bluetooth transmitter hooked up to one of the outputs of your X AIR Mixer.
Im very interested in the x air series. My question is the multitrack feature of the 18 is lil overkill for me. Would I be able to say have music coming in off a mp3 player or something so I can hear it but only record my voice and not both music and voice. In other words not send the music to the the main out just my voice so I'll only be recording that track?
There is the options of using a stereo linked pair of AUX outputs to feed an external recorder instead of using the built in Audio Interface to record your tracks. Also don't forget that the XR12/XR16 models allow you to record to a USB thumb drive which might be an even easier solution for you.
Thanks for sharing with us Trilobyte, we appreciate your support of BEHRINGER products. The X AIR products are designed as a stand alone mixer, so connecting them to X32 is not an option. However, we do make affordable digital stage box options that can be used to feed signal to/from your X32, like our SD8/SD16 and S16/S32 products. Please check out our website for more information: www.music-group.com/Categories/Behringer/Mixers/I-O-Interfaces/c/1234113?group=I/O%20Interfaces&colExpFlag=,Mixers,I/O%20Interfaces
+Alistair Nongdhar All Outputs, including AUXes and MAIN LR, have an optional built in 6-band parametric EQ or 31-band Graphic EQ so you can easily control the sound of your X AIR Mixer.
You can change the color of your individual channel scribble strips, but changing the overall color scheme of the GUI for the X AIR EDIT Software/apps is not possible.
Am not able to get my brand new XR 18 connected through the wifi access to either my pc or mac or android device is there a support team to provide some help. It is not as Plug and Play as i thought it would be
Hi Muthu, we congratulate you on your X AIR purchase and appreciate your support of Behringer products! Please check out this video for more wifi tips with using your X AIR Mixer: ruclips.net/video/_CpcZbRrGvk/видео.html You will also find a number of Quick Tip videos on our X AIR "How to" Playlist on our youtube channel so be sure to check that out for more help with you Mixer. You can also find product manuals on our website in the downloads section. Please let us know if you have any other questions and please enjoy the rest of your day!
Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. The problem I am facing is that none of my computers are able to connect to the wifi signal that I am getting from the XR 18. So, as a result of this, on my mixer the Connect button does not work. Could it be a problem with the machine? I really wish it is not as It will be a bummer to send it all the way back from India
Absolutely! This can be done by playing back previously recorded tracks (virtual soundcheck) or by using traditional methods of EQ to ring out your room prior to performance.
Can you connect multiple mixers into one? example :i can only afford a xr12 i eventually have enough to get another one, can i link the two to get 24 channels?
The X AIR Mixers are each designed as a stand alone mixer, so multiple mixers can't be "connected" or "linked" to each other. Some users have for example run the Main/AUX XLR outputs from one XR12 into another XR12, but when doing this you would have to switch your control device (PC/tablet/phone) connection between your two mixers to control each XR12's Mix individually.
+TIAGO MENDES Yes you can multi-track record with the X18 and XR18 X AIR Mixers. These products can record up to 18 channels simultaneously using your favorite DAW software.
All audio channels of the X AIR Mixers have to be monitored from the device's outputs, specifically the Main LR, AUX Outputs and Headphone Output jacks. No audio actually passes through your PC/Tablet/Phone control device so plugging in headphone to your tablet while mixing does not permit you to hear your mix.
I just picked up the XR18 for corp and conference use. My primary goal was to get as many sub mixes so that I can get a series of mix-minus. This is a GREAT help for me and my XR18 thank you!
Just bought the x18 and love it! I want to put the bass guitar and electronic drum kit through the x18. Do I need to use DI boxes?
For the bass, use one of the hi-z inputs or use a DI box into an XLR. For the electric drums, use the line-level 1/4 connectors.
You are a very cool dude and a freaking genius
Is there a way to set up a midi foot switch that controls delays?
Great video. Can I turn effects on or off via midi foot pedal? For example, I just want delay on certain parts of a song.
Thank you 🙏
Excellent lecture 👍
thanks Phil we bought xr18 for church and we love it! we are all volunteers and its so intuitive to use the software the favourite part is we are running the xair edit software with a raspberry pi 2 on a 24 inch monitor which looks gorgeous and works flawlessly, thinking of buying 3 x turbosound iq15 speakers and connecting via ultranet 2 for front of house and one as fold back monitor, what do u think? cheers sandy

when are we getting the mixer / rack that can record all tracks "internally" in addition to externally in this small form factor???
The QSC TouchMix16 can do “multitrack” and “2-track” to a usb drive at the same time.

I saw your other video about multi channel recording straight back to ipad via another app, my question is what is recorded, is it the dry channels or after going through all the eqs n effects set up from the xair app?
+John Davy It can be either depending on how you set the output tap points in the routing menu of your X AIR Mixer.
Would it be possible to use the built in WiFi on one of these units to connect a Chromecast Music for audio streaming?
Nice video. Nice series. The audio is not time aligned to the video on this one. It makes the talking head parts difficult to watch...
Hi Mark! Thank you for this! Will bring this up with the team. :) - Diego

I use xr18. Any suggestions on effects for vocal
Hello, is the XR12 enough interface for a 4 member band ?
Absolutely, but ultimately this will depend on the band's live sound requirements and the PA system you intend to use.
Can X air 18 be use as digital snake with x32

+Alistair Nongdhar All Outputs, including AUXes and MAIN LR, have an optional built in 6-band parametric EQ or 31-band Graphic EQ so you can easily control the sound of your X AIR Mixer.
Thanks a lot ..is it available in India yet...
Best way to get audio from a computer at the back of house?
These are Midas designed preamps not Midas Preamps is that correct
Can a touch laptop control the faders same way as an iPad does? Thanks
It will ultimately depend on the features of your laptop, but yes the X AIR EDIT software supports touch screen control.
Does xair 18 has matrix output?
How to go to the deep setting for compressor in X air app for Android?
Is there a control surface we can buy to control the x air instead of using a tablet?
Yes there is, it's called X-TOUCH and you can see it in action here:

Can you change behringer xr18 air color scheme on my computer?
You can change the color of your individual channel scribble strips, but changing the overall color scheme of the GUI for the X AIR EDIT Software/apps is not possible.
Can I use both at the same time my macbook with ethernet and my ipad wireless? Thanks.
Yes you can, but you will have to use an external wireless router to be able to achieve this.
I think I have an example of this here: ruclips.net/video/HgrZD2hiWOc/видео.html
Hi there! What a nice video!!!
I would like to know whether it works with Garageband (multitrack)
Greetings from Mexico City :D

If i record a live event and save the file to my computer. Can i later on upload the file and then edit the individual channels for post production?
Yes this is definitely possible with the X18/XR18 models of X AIR.
That's great! Thanks for the quick response.

The problem I am facing is that none of my computers are able to connect to the wifi signal that I am getting from the XR 18.
So, as a result of this, on my mixer the Connect button does not work.
Could it be a problem with the machine?
I really wish it is not as It will be a bummer to send it all the way back from India
I got it sorted finally. Thanks a lot for your time :)
You're welcome, glad all is working as it should.
Is it possible to connect with my laptop without internet? I want to connect directly wire to this XAir 18. Without internet!!!!!!?
Yeah....just set the switch to ethernet like he says at 7:45
Yes. Plug it into the ether net port
can the EQ change to British mode ?
Hi, is it possible to use in a church with four services per week?
Absolutely!
Can I EQ the room pre gig with an X AIR mixer?
Absolutely! This can be done by playing back previously recorded tracks (virtual soundcheck) or by using traditional methods of EQ to ring out your room prior to performance.
Is it possible to download the software to more that one device?
Yes Bill! Our official software/apps offerings are always free to customers so you can download it to as many computers/devices as you wish.
Can I link Ableton to the internal wifi signal?
No, but you can connect your computer directly to an XR18 and record audio directly to different DAWs like Ableton Live.
Are the mixers scalable?
Can you please clarify your question for us Milton?
Can you connect multiple mixers into one? example :i can only afford a xr12 i eventually have enough to get another one, can i link the two to get 24 channels?
The X AIR Mixers are each designed as a stand alone mixer, so multiple mixers can't be "connected" or "linked" to each other.
Some users have for example run the Main/AUX XLR outputs from one XR12 into another XR12, but when doing this you would have to switch your control device (PC/tablet/phone) connection between your two mixers to control each XR12's Mix individually.
is one effect applicable to all mic channels at the same time?
Yes this can be done by using Sends/Returns on any of the FX Buses, demonstrated here: ruclips.net/video/6yUkyGZRUy8/видео.html
I can’t see your curser so it’s very hard to follow what you’re doing. I just purchased this so I need more of a less advanced video to start with...
Wow
hello, XR18, its possible record in multitrack? if is possible what the max track record?
Thanks and very nice products
+TIAGO MENDES Yes you can multi-track record with the X18 and XR18 X AIR Mixers. These products can record up to 18 channels simultaneously using your favorite DAW software.
😀
ordered. top
you are not pro, come on your mouth does not match your speech, bad name for Behringer man
Can you use the tablet to plug-in a monitor headset?
All audio channels of the X AIR Mixers have to be monitored from the device's outputs, specifically the Main LR, AUX Outputs and Headphone Output jacks. No audio actually passes through your PC/Tablet/Phone control device so plugging in headphone to your tablet while mixing does not permit you to hear your mix.
There's always the possibility of hooking up a bluetooth Tx/Rx to the headphone output of your mixer to monitor your signals.
