He is one of the most underappreciated artist of our time. He has never been given the acclaim he rightly deserves, I hope all this changes soon. Play on Alex, play on...
Problably build the best metal solo ever... Return to Serenity (The Ritual) .. can do jazz, metal, blues, rock... Groove.. mix jazz with metal .. Guess what? student of the master Joe Satriani
I didn't know Alex could sing too! Amazing guitarist and person. Someone I would love to meet one day and maybe have a jam session with. Even though my guitar playing skills are like a piss-ant compared to a god. It would still be fun
Alex has a massive “vocabulary.” Whereas many players become masters of one style/scale (e.g. Kirk Hammett/SRV, Pentatonic masters) Alex has mastered all the modes. To use an analogy it’s like someone who got a gpa of 4.0 in HS and does really well afterwards but stopped there vs. someone who got a gpa of 4.0 in HS then went on to get a PHD all while maintaining a 4.0 gpa.
@@rubicon-oh9km great question. Although very different stylistically, there are similarities. Both have achieved what I refer to as that massive “vocabulary” and “dialects” in terms of a deep understanding of the many different harmonies, scales and modalities and contexts. They have also both developed the physical technique to effectively utilize them in actual musical scenarios such as composition and soloing. So I would say “some people say tomato, some say tomato” (British | American accent). I’ll also say that I love both these players. And while we’re at it, let’s through in Paco de Lucia. Another monster, other-worldly player...

Skolnick and Di Meola sharing a stage would be a dream.

Alex Skolnick Trio - the band he formed when he left testament in 1993, they have 3 albums of similar style music.
He is such a versatile cat, and always pours his heart into it. What else is there?
This level of love of the instrument and the art is a lost one. It’s so rare to witness this level of musicianship anymore.
Especially since grunge pretty much killed this in the 90's (since guitar solos were so passé back then).
thanks to autotune everybody can be a "musician"......
GUITAR GOD. ALEX SKOLNICK
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
If you can play one note perfectly, your can play them all. Alex nails every note because he’s the hammer and and he’s also the nail.
i never get board watching Alex play
Amaze-ballz! Thanks Alex, that was groovy buddy! Alex Skolnick, the man of a thousand genres.

Cool sounded like Testament and Led Zep and J. Hendrix mix
14.40, what every super schooled jazz scat cat does, what alex does in testament makes him the player. 14:40 is really wtf.
4:49 I don't really know Hendrix but isn't this one of his songs ?

Alex you living legend you.

man can sing!
Wow, this guy is fucking cool! lml
What so g was it that he said was overplayed?
Just discovered this clip and it might be a little late to answer, but just in case... Little Wing by Hendrix
14:09, " i ain't afraid if no Trump!" I freaking love it, let's hope this new regime can repair what Trump left behind in his whirlwind of "Trumping."
Let's start with people who can't spell correctly.
Does anyone know what kind of delay is being used at 3:02 ? Its almost a reverse sounding delay
exactly that. reversed delay, boss dd3/dd7 have this as a function.
Lmao at those arpeggios. Not even close to playable on my end
14:40 or so...just dirty.
the most legit trash shredder, btw the guy on the side maybe used some beard balm XD

Alex is good buT he’s know Paul Gilbert
pink floyd that guy
This kind of music is a dying art..... sadly
Leave the funk stuff to John Frusciante , Alex lol
Meh
As much as I love Alex, he's never been that interesting at this type of thing sorry. But his solos in Testament are of course kick ass.
The legend needs a haircut !
Love Skolnick but the scat singing was awful
? It's legit
