I love this girl. I just listen to the videos because I love the way her voice sounds...its so calming. But now I'm actually picking up some thai words! LOL Thank you!
Hello! I am Cambodian People I like study Thai language and English language too. Thanks for your teaching, I am Know too much about word and your National holiday.
Great video. Loved the easy "Thai" friendly style, got registered on your site, and yet I can't help but wonder as to WHY is there so much "Krap" in that language? Maybe you pretty ladies think so little of "men"? ((( -playing with the word "Krap" and what it sounds like in English, "CRAP" with a sharp A, probably with a Scandi/Franco/German accent ))) :):) Gonna watch ALL vids, and subbed.
thank you Jay! what makes this such a good lesson is your warm personality. I like the first part of the video where the Thai is is simple short phrases but soon got out of my depth later. I will have to work harder!
Sawa Dee Ka .....I have been listening to your lessons (back in West Palm Beach And here In Bangkok presently) and I am very grateful for your teaching. But I did wish to point out that when you said 'khun phuut waa a-rai' you commented you use this often because "persons can speak too fast' .......and so you need to ask them to repeat themselves......My sweet teacher that is exactly what your doing : ) It would be very helpful if you slow down when you are teaching the phrases! Kob Koon Ka !
The demonstration is great and her use of the English language is wonderful. The only problem is her pronunciation of Thai words and phrases, which for me and other foreigners, is too fast. I wish she would take that into consideration. Great work.
Thank you teacher! it is good lessons! i want to know how to remark some words that speaking is different from writing! Ex. สร้าง, (sang) สรวง, (sourng) เศร้า, (sao) ทราบ, (sap) กระทรวง, (kra sourng) จริงๆ, (chieng)
phrase on 34:15 With reference to the preceding sentence: Why is this เรามีเหลือแต่ห้องเตียงคู่ค่ะ correct and not this เรามีเหลือแต่ห้องเตียงคู่หนึ่งห้องค่ะ
I like the accent so I might as well really subscribe. I've been here in Thailand for almost 3 years now and I can't even make a nice conversation with Thai people! Anyway, Jane would fit you best, as Jay is a name commonly for a boy.
I like your channel, but I think it would be better if the graphic broke down the words to show the grammar structure. The grammar is different so it is often hard to know what the individual words mean. If you show the direct translation and also the literal translation, this will help learners to improve their vocabulary and think in Thai.
Hello farang08, Thank you very much for your kind comment. For your question, yes Thai language have all those sound but pronounce with different Thai alphabet. Here they are "bp is ป" "p พ and others" "b is บ", Practice is needed in order to recognized and differentiated them. In Thai you will need to remember each words how it spell, because there are no rules of what each word should be pronounce.Hope that help. Please feel free to let me know if you have any future questions. I will be glad to help. We wish you have a good progress in learning Thai. Have a nice day. Parisa Team ThaiPod101.com
I have never found it difficult to pronounce the 'r' sound - or any other sound. Not quite true - the clicks in Xhosa, Zulu etc. and San languages are quite difficult at first.
ru jak( assuming a certain tone ) means "understand" or "I know" depending on the context as we generally like to omit certain things in normal everyday speech. not sure how you're pronouncing "meng" and "duai" t hough.
Hi! JAY, great lessons, however I do think you are speaking too fast for us learner to catch the vocal pronounciation & word. Maybe slowdown by half a second per word.
Dear Boumedjirek Haroune, Thank you very much for your comment and question. We put "khun" which mean you in to indicated that you asking someone. As we usually say "Pronouns" can be omit when the speaker is right in front of you and talking to you. Hope that’s help. Please let me know if you need any future questions. I will be glad to help. We wish you have a good progress with Thai language. Have a nice day. Parisa Team ThaiPod101.com

Actually the reason thais use nicknames instead of real name is because in the past people believed that spirits would find us if called by name, so they would give nicknames to their children to confuse the spirits. People no longer believe in it, but the nickname thing kept going.

Do you have recommendations for pronunciation excercises? For example: when learning Mandarin there are exercises that are essential to learn first.

You should explain what the Thai words mean
Is there a place in New York where I can learn Thai ????
Vanessa Balenciaga I'm sure there is! I don't know any specific places, but I am sure that of all places, New York would be the easiest to find it!
Learn Thai itself is hard.. learning while watching Jay is even harder.. hard to focus 😂

Khaaw Khao haawng nam naauy dai mai, , that is much nicer then just saying 'haawng name u T ni' like I have been saying : ) khx khxbhun.
instead of curling my tongue and pronouncing the 'r' I always replace it with 'l' because it's easier is it correct anyways
I have never found it difficult to pronounce the 'r' sound - or any other sound.
Not quite true - the clicks in Xhosa, Zulu etc. and San languages are quite difficult at first.
Finally Thai girl who can say "R" not "L" like aRoy, FaRang, AiRport but it's still not change the fact that Thai ppl are ting tong baa mak !!!
does anybody have any helpful tips for making the tongue clip sound? i have tried for so long to do it and still no luck :(
no way somebody is going to follow this in just one sitting, but after 7 years in thailand... it was easy hahahaah.
Sa wa dii ka di chan chune naw ka
What the mean "Ru jak, meng, duai in English?
ru jak( assuming a certain tone ) means "understand" or "I know" depending on the context as we generally like to omit certain things in normal everyday speech. not sure how you're pronouncing "meng" and "duai" t hough.
Hi! JAY, great lessons, however I do think you are speaking too fast for us learner to catch the vocal pronounciation & word. Maybe slowdown by half a second per word.
"How are you ", why you added the "Khun" ? usually i say :"sa baaai dii mai "

You are nice girl :) I like to listen you :)
Aren't you supposed to substitute "chan" for "pom" if you are a male?
Hello djsnakeyes,
Thank you very much for your comment and question. A polite pronoun for I(male) speaker is "pǒm" and polite female pronoun is "chán", but our actor is a women so she usually say "chán" in the video, if you are a man just change that to "pǒm" and put "kráp" at the end of the sentences where she said "ka"
Thank you very much for your support.

Actually “chan “ is okay for male too.If they’re close friends .
Actually the reason thais use nicknames instead of real name is because in the past people believed that spirits would find us if called by name, so they would give nicknames to their children to confuse the spirits. People no longer believe in it, but the nickname thing kept going.
เก่งมากครับพูดโครตชัดเลย คนไทยนี่หว่า 5555
What is aa-sai?
not sure how you're pronouncing that but you're probably referring to "to depend on"
It means live in...
Why do you all teach random phrases or random vocabulary and not any structure?
Ha ha, I have also been wondering where the structure is and have come to the conclusion that Thaipod101 is led by someone who has difficultlywith actual "learning structure". I hope that I am proved wrong on that somehow, but so far having watched 4 of these videos, its all random vocabulary.
hi jai i want too ask you why som thai when they say aroy say it like this and other is saying aloy. also. araina some say alaina is it becaus its more easy too say l then r
Mike Tzai , yes it's easier to speak with 'l' instead of 'r' and thai people can understand it
Most people don’t pronounce “r” but “l” instead
khawp khun khrap jay
english is very good understand..i dont like other languages..respect to my comment...
I notice that you use English characters to denote the Thai-language sounds, but also use Thai letters. What is more common in Thailand? Could I just learn the Thai language by using the English letters, or is it easier to learn the Thai alphabet at the same time?
Ferremundo Redundo Latin letters just for foreigners who want to learn conversational Thai. This is the only reason Latin letters are used
There is no official using of Latin alphabet yet, so learn Thai alphabet would be good. But it takes some time to get the hang of it.
