I don't know what to say, cuz OUTSTANDING just isn't enough. You folks are truly dedicated and amazing caretakers of this part of our American heritage. Thank you all.
😁😁😁😁
That Chuck Wagon is so far beyond outstanding, that it is beyond description. I wish, I was, as talented as the man who designed and engineered it, in it's beginning days.
Love your channel and enjoy your content.
Get better and we'll see you soon.
This Old Jarhead will watch until he can't.
Karl
If you strip everything away, Kent's adjective is 'Artist'. I wish this restoration was a 20 part series.
Imagine what the old wainwright who built this would say if he saw this. I'd bet he'd laugh and cry, point out the mistakes he made all those years ago, and compliment how well Kent did with it's restoration
It’s hard to find words for this absolute masterpiece Kent! All those “Cookeys” long gone are looking down and have a big grin on their face. Thank you for being a keeper of the old ways!,👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yess I’ve never clicked so fast in my life!
Literally have been waiting for this video🤣🤣
@@dravenduncan4291 me tooo! Haha
THANKS :)
Kent, I’ve been a chef for western hunting guide services. I’ve been cooking with cast iron, over fires, for over 50 years. I love watching your videos and I’ve learned valuable insight into being a better outdoor cook, from watching you and your wife. Watching you redo this wagon was a treat. Well done! I look forward to your next video! God bless America! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
With some TLC, that old wagon should be feeding Cowboys another 200 years!
That's some beautiful craftsmanship.
Been waiting (impatiently) for part 2
I‘ve never been so fast 😅
I may be a yankee bastard to the soul... but this old gentle western master is wicked awesome! Kent, you are a sage!
AWESOME JOB, a lot of history in that ole chuck wagon. Wagon set to see the next 100+ years
Outstanding job Kent !! Thanks for sharing.
I'm a DIY woodworker so I can appreciate the work you put into rebuilding the wagon, very nice work you did
The wagon she be beautiful Kent. Look so forward to seeing her in use. This old Vet loves your shows an recipes!👍
Thank you for keeping a tradition and way of life alive!
What an enjoyable couple of episodes! Norm Abram would be proud of your “This Old Chuckwagon”! I enjoy all the cooking videos you do but I also like the ones one the equipment you use and your stories of being out there with your chuckwagon. Thanks as always!
Thats really good! Norm.😅👍
Kent, thank you for being such a good custodian of our western history and a fine American!! A salute back at ya from a proud veteran !
Thank you for allowing us to come along on restoring a piece of history! Your work is beautiful and your chuck wagon is gorgeous! God bless you and Shannon and family!👍❤️🇺🇸
You did it proud Kent, it's going to last another 100 years for future generations to appreciate.
Kent and Shan, the wagon looks great! Congratulations! She’s stronger and beautiful. I’m sure she’ll be reliable for many more years. I hope we can see her in person some day. Time to hit the trail! P.S. We’ll tune in tomorrow night to watch you on The Ultimate Cowboy Showdown.
Thank you for showing how back in the day before any electrical convenience there was good old cowboy ingenuity and grit that kept the hard workers going. This is something that needs to be celebrated and remembered and no better person to represent than you Mr.Rollins.Appreciate you sir.
I love watching these videos so informative
I always thought the words "I'll fix your wagon." were fightin' words. -Learn something new every day... Take care all. Stay safe, don't let your meat-loaf.
Wow, Ken I’m so impressed by all you have done to restore this. However I can’t help for thinking about the original carpenters……. They were amazing!!!
Ken, All I can say is this, "It`s simply beautiful." The colors compliment each other; especially the chuck box, the way the oak and pine took the custom stain makes the wagon a work of art, a work of love. As a professional designer, I tip my hat to you, your lovely bride, and crew!
Great job Kent and Sharon. I'm sure you're pleased with the end result. You'll enjoy this for many years to come. We look forward to seeing it in future videos. You can look forward to passing it on to another cowboy cook in another 50 years or so :).
Thanks for all you do and God bless!
Good to see her back on the trail. I helped to rebuild a racing wagon a many years ago and we cut our own oak, had them rough cut, and wore out 3 planers milling them down to finished size. A lot of the non important parts we used cypress because it's light and doesn't rot.
I appreciate that you thank the veterans for their service. My father served in Korea and Vietnam. My husband served in Vietnam and Afghanistan. But sometimes I wish someone would thank their families. We are the first line of support for these men. We are the ones who have to carry on when they are gone... some who never return. Our sacrifice is just as great for this country. 💖🌞🌵😷
Fantastic job on the wagon
Something incredible to pass down
And treasure. Thank You
That is truly beautiful y’all. What a wonderful memory to have. What a thing to be proud of.
I was just eating on a scrumptious jimmy dean biscuit couldn’t help but to remind myself of the change
Good ole Kent Rollins!
Anyone else video went into a commercial when kent opened the garage ........never skipped a add so fast
Wow, guys! It’s absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations on an amazing restoration.
Incredible work Kent! Keeping living history for the next generations to enjoy.
I'm reminded of Charles Goodnight, Texas rancher who introduced the chuckwagon concept in 1866. He modified a Studebaker-manufactured covered wagon, adding the chuck box, and water barrel. Enjoy the journey.
Looking forward to seeing the first meal from the chuck box!
A labor of love and keeping the spirit of the Old West alive. Way to go, Kent.
As a prior service member i tip my hat to the people (like yourself) who kept the troops fed. Nothing like a decent meal when you are just wiped out physically and mentally. You need that comfort and nutrition to keep on keeping on.
An army truly marches on it's stomach. And so do cowboys!
Well done Mr. Rollins. She looks beautiful! Cheers to many more years to come down that ol wagon trail. Can’t wait for the next video
Man did that turn out nice. What a beautiful piece of American history. Great job guys!!
My uncle always told me when you make something and you want it to last use screws. Thanks Uncle Bob RIP.
Gosh dang!!! That wagon came looking like it was the 1800’s all over again and just like I can imagine her looking as she rolled off the factory floor! I tip my hat to you Mr. Rollins for restoring such an important piece of American History that most folks never think about. It was also nice to see your family helping you take it apart and put it back together, because nothing is more fun than a project that big being a family affair. Looking forward to seeing you cooking from it again.
Looks fantastic! Far better than what it looked like when you started. Especially impressed with how the chuck box turned out with the stain and the knobs. In fact, I think the entire restoration actually looks more authentic & antique with the stain. And you can't beat that this was family project as well. Mad respect for all of you in saving this American relic.
Beautiful carpentry! So glad you all made this 2 part series about rebuilding the ol' chuck wagon. I love oak. The grain beautiful.
Kent, you done did a wonderful job on the ol’ wagon! Looks great! And much much stronger than it was.
😳 WOW! That looks wonderful! It was an honor to serve my country. Thank you for your support!
Wow, that's just a beautiful result! All the wood finishes go so great with that green. A real labor of love & I have enjoyed watching every minute of it that you've shared.
Perfection on the craftsmanship. What a jaw dropping, amazing traveling wagon cooker. I love it!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That wagon could be in a museum. What a beautiful restoration. And the fact that it still gets used makes it even better!
Thank you for showing the restoration. It's the little pieces of history that are amazing. Not the "Geo-Political stories" they taught us in school.
The Chuck Wagon turned out absolutely wonderful Kent Rollins oh, I'm so happy for you and your son for doing such a fine job on this antique, and part of History. May you live a hundred more years to keep making videos to share with us, you yourself Kent is a National Treasure and all your followers appreciate you. Wonderful job turned out great.
The world needs more people like him. Good genuine people
This looks beautiful with the wood grains showing! Wonderful job!
It’s an honor to join you. Beautiful job on your cook wagon! God bless!
Thanks Carol and God bless you
You've done an awesome job on the Chuck wagon , truly a labor of love which time is not justified. Thank you Kent & Shannon for sharing another adventure with us.
Kent and Shan, Really enjoyed the wagon redo. Looks like a great jog.
Les from Eastern Oregon.
wow...as someone who appreciates history, I loved your approach to keeping it as close to the original (or better). Also very much appreciate the workmanship - y'all should be proud bc it is a sight to behold!
As a computer guy, I’ve always had lots of respect for people who work with their hands! This is amazing 🤩
Absolutely beautiful wagon. Ken as a veteran I want to thank you for your honoring our military men and women current and past for service to our great country. Thanks
That is absolutely beautiful. The colour and finish choices work extremely well and make it look both neat and well maintained while also honouring the age and history of the wagon.
Beautiful restoration job on the old cook wagon. You, your wife, your son, and everyone else that spent time to make this a beautiful quick restoration of history, and memories used to feed real Cowboy’s! Love your recipe’s, and your channel. Have a great Memorial weekend!
Kent, Shannon, Jason, and crew, I doubt there are very few 1876 Studebaker Chuck Wagons still in service today. The effort Y'all put into this restoration was amazing, and we viewers thank you for bringing us along to witness a part of the details you had to follow to maintain the very complex construction of the original design of this wagon. For a wagon built almost 150 years ago, it is hard to believe you were even able to find one in working condition, much less being able to get all these years of use out of it before needing to be restored.
Your attention to your choice of materials, and upgrades assures us it will still be in service long after all of us viewers are long gone. God Bless Y'all.
Looks great. I wonder if the builders in the 1870s thought their wagon would still be giving good service nearly 150 years later.
Thank you for keeping this alive.
I wasn't into camping or doing things "rough" as people would put it. Your cooking videos make me hungry even when I'm not hungry.
I've never seen a restored wagon. Aren't there bigger ones? This one seems kind of small.
This isn't a small wagon. Remember these are pulled by real "horsepower" and there's a direct correlation between weight of the wagon and the number of draft animals (horses, mules or oxen) required to pull it. I'm guessing fully loaded this wagon would require at least a team of medium/large draft horses or mules. Small lightweight two-person buggies can be pulled by a single smaller horse. Large borax ore wagons were pulled by up to 20 mule teams. It all just depended on need. The average person in those days wouldn't have afforded to own and feed 4 or 8 draft horses, which were relatively expensive, so a large wagon would not have been as common as a smaller utility wagon.
@@upscaleshack How is it not? This looks to be more of a storage wagon, not one a family or even a couple would use to cross large distances or even travel at length.
What was this one's purpose?
@@UnfilteredMedic I'd suggest googling that. It's too much to explain in a youtube comment.
@@upscaleshack Of course!! We learn best when we take in info by hearing, seeing, and doing.
Awsome! My dad was into restoring old cars, some of the older ones had wood frames, so I can really appreciate the work that goes into a project like this!
Dears Kent and Shannon: Thank you for the "restoring the Studebaker videos. We adore you both of you and also thank you for fostering the memories of our heritage. You are making a great contribution to our country. Pete and Linda Chamlee, MSgt, USAF {ret} First Sergeant {Veteran of Vietnam service 1966/1967}
It is overwhelming the love and experience you have Kent. Job well done!
Wow... just flat out wow! As a longtime woodworker, I can appreciate all of the work that went into this, as well as the $$$$ that you put into it with the Oak lumber... especially at today's crazy lumber prices. I love your attention to detail and well thought out solutions. And as usual whenever I watch one your videos, I learn something new. That the technique you used with the spray paint so the grain pattern was not obscured, and gave it a rustic look, fantastic! Just what I need for a restoration I'm doing on an old joiner's tool chest.
Although... it was kind of weird at first seein' the Cowboy without the trademark hat and sporting jeans and a sweat shirt ... lol.
Thanks for sharing your journey!!
Love it. Hope you get 200 years out of it before it has to be looked at again!!!! Thanks for what you do for all of us!!!

Thank you so much for keeping this part of American history alive. Beautiful work on the old girl. Grew up in Northern Nv. I remember seeing a few of these on some of the ranches. My aunt cooked on one in her youth. Thanks for keeping the cowboy ways alive!
Oh wow!! It’s beautiful, looks exactly like what I would imagine it should. I’ve got to where, I check out the chuck wagons on old-westerns! You all are quite the
Carpenters!!
Outstanding!! Thoroughly enjoyed part 1 and 2.
Kent, you have saved an heirloom from being lost!! Excellent job!! I’m constantly amazed at how many things you and Shannon know how to do. You’re a great team! Now, how about dance’n a little jig for us!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
Just watched this video, Wow bringing new life to a 144 year old studebaker. Reminds me of my old homestead where my great great grand parents built wagons in the 1880’s era. ❤
What a beautiful restoration. This took a lot of effort along with lotta love. God Bless you and your family.
It's got to be a blessing to hold that much history in your hands. Beautiful restoration job, and I hope that you and Shannon have many more meals on board the Studebaker. You folks are a living link to a part of American history. Thank you both for all of your efforts. Be well and at peace.
One thing for sure, the Studebaker brothers would be proud to put their name on that one again! Look's fantastic! Wishing you folks many, many more years with that beautiful piece of history!
The old girl looks preyty good. Obviosly a labor of love. Good job Kent!!

That actually rhymes in Google translate! ❤️
@@BoSmith7045 Merci Beaucoup!
Sadly, when these types of vehicles were made, they were never intended to last this long. And we have come a long way in wood preservation methods and materials. So while it might not be authentic, i would recommend you use the better wood treatments available, so that this rebuild lasts even longer than the original. Help that classic stay around for many years to come.
I want to thank you for keeping the west alive.
Kent.
I have really enjoyed watching all of your videos, but as a retired carpenter, I think the chuck wagon restoration videos have been my favorite. Well done sir.
When we were little kids my Dad and Mom would set up ‘chuck wagon breakfasts’ on Saturday mornings, pancakes, eggs and bacon etc, but all cooked and eaten outside in our back yard. My Mom passed several years ago and my Dad passed this last January. Watching your chuck wagon restoration brought back some really happy memories for me.
Thanks brother, and God bless you all.
Don S.
Kent, this is so impressive. Love the craftsmanship, the honoring of the tradition, and the way it was originally built. Hope I can eat some of your food some day.
Love it Kent, the stained oak looks awesome!
Now I wanna ride in it!
Now that is a quality restoration.
Makes me remember when I visited the museum in Buffalo, Wyoming. Studebaker in the basement. I loved those wagons.
The rebuild looks great y'all did a really wonderful job congrats on a true working work of art
Wow, I sure didn't see that coming ... incredible craftsmanship and the colors are stunning, what a remarkable transformation! Thanks for the videos guys!
I tip my hat to the Carpenter/Cook & Company that have kept that ole wagon rollin' for so long, bringing us taste vittle recipes and great company to visit with. Praise the Name!! Have a Blessed Day one and all.
My 19 month old son started clapping when the wagon was being pulled out of the barn. 😃👍🏻👍🏻
Well done, Kent! Looks great! Hope it serves you well for a long time.
The wagon looks great. Looking forward to seeing it a lot more this year. Take care - Be safe - hope the family and you are doing well. God Bless. PS love your cook book and seasoning.
Thank God we still have people like you around and all the people who make this channel work. Ty and special thanks to your better half.
Good job, Kent. That is proof how God, through us , takes something imperfect and crafts something that is perfect.
I thoroughly enjoyed this rebuild. What a great job you all did. Thank you for preserving history. It will now live another long life and be able to be passed down one day. As an auto restorer I understand the work, trials and wins that come from a project like this. You should take all of the wood you replaced and cut it into small pieces and make key chains and sell them. Keep up the hard work
She's a purdy ol gal! As a carpenter myself I love rebuilding old things that have such great history.
Well done Kent! The wagon looks great, and I think Studebaker would be approve!
Another thing, if I lived near you or you by me, I would be honored to have a brother in Christ like you for a neighbor.
Im just some guy that grew up in Suburbs that works in the oilfield and drive trucks but I love watching your channel it makes think what it was like to been born and raised a cowboy!
The old girl got a wonderful make over. You and the family did a great job.
That was a wonderful restoration of American History. God bless you, wife family and crew. A beautiful job well done. Thanks for letting a watch.
Cowboy, I'm proud of what you've done to bring her back.. and look forward to seeing this prairie schooner back on the range making 'Ol Cookie' proud.
Here in the CT mountains in the middle of nowhere I’m trying to fix up an old cabin. I’m 22 trying to stay out of big cities where day by day gets harder and dangerous to live. Just started my channel and let’s see how it goes. Stay safe and work hard to make your life better bc politicians will never care about us.
