In an emotional interview Rachel tells how a photo of her crying while frantically searching for her fiancé threw her into the spotlight and she became the face of 9/11 heartache for the nation.

I really feel sad for her since she lost her fiancé on that terrible day like so many other families who, too, lost their near and dear ones. But one thing I find strange is that why wasn't the South Tower evacuated immediately after the first jet hit the North Tower ? The security at the South Tower was advising its occupants to not leave the building from what I know. I wonder why when nearby buildings were already being evacuated. Had the security evacuated the South Tower immediately after the first hit in the North Tower, I feel the death toll would not have been so high. RIP

I think because people were already jumping from the North tower & killing people below. The Naudet brothers doc shows the Fire Chief they had already been filming for a NYFD doc, at a gas leak nearby , arriving at WTC & entering the Lobby. Shortly after you hear the jumpers start crashing to the ground outside.
I'm not sure exactly why; and in spite of the fact that planes never fly that low; I think when the North Tower was hit, many ppl believed it to be an accident. A mistake; a flying error. Realistically; no pilot would ever make a mistake like that especially once they're hired to fly commercial jets, but I don't think ppl knew enough about that unless you were familiar with planes. They told them to stay seated and not leave the building because that was standard protocol at the time. Many ppl within the buildings at the time were not aware that a plane had crashed into them. They knew there was a fire, some heard and felt explosions so they thought it was maybe just a bomb; since a few yrs prior there had been a bomb placed in the parking garage of the WTC; but I believe most ppl did evacuate because they found it sooner or something. I can't remember. Also it's worth noting that there was no more than I believe 12-15 min in between the plane hitting the north tower and the one that hit the south. I'm guessing many ppl in the south tower; depending on what floor you're on, still never knew a plane had hit the north? And of course; 12-15 min is not a long time to accurately process the situation and predict the safest course of action. Its worth noting, too; that prior to this event, never before in history had a plane --a commercial jet no doubt--had ever flown into a building. That alone brought about a whole litany of unknown variables that resulted in exponentially heightened and more severe threats and danger; far more than the bomb in a parking garage or a fire. The towers were built with, foolishly, no realistic and effective plans for evaluation. And because this was something that had never happened prior; the safety measures were being announced over the speaker on default for a fire. There was nothing in place for a disaster anywhere near the caliber of this. And for a fire; staying in their seat and waiting for further instructions on whether or not to evacuate was the protocol so that an extremely large group of ppl on different floors up to 100; could evacuate in an orderly fashion and get as many ppl to safety as possible. And of course; even after both planes were hit and the whole world was well aware of the situation; still no one ever expected them to collapse. God bless America and God Bless the victims, their families, the first responders and NYFD , NYPD, NYC medical professionals and God bless New York. This was the day our whole world changed. Lives were lost but heroes were made that day. And a lot of lives were saved; thank God for each one.
@m.mcc.9893 I agree with your point. No one had experienced such a devastating terrorist attack before. Moreover, that was the security protocol they followed then, and they had no idea too that in 15 mts, the South Tower would also be hit by a second jetliner. Unfortunately, the South Tower was the first to collapse despite being hit later, maybe as its point of impact was a bit lower compared to the North Tower. But despite the security protocol, some security personnel there did advise their occupants to evacuate the South Tower immediately from the stairwell after the first hit in the North Tower. So, a couple of occupants, with their offices above the point of impact in the South Tower, did have a dramatic escape as recounted from their survivor stories. The sad part was that those trapped above the point of impact in both the towers didn't have a chance of rescue too from the firefighters as both the towers collapsed so soon after getting hit. Maybe at that time, buildings weren't built to withstand such kinds of terrorist attacks. I hope the present World Trade Center One has been built to withstand a similar kind of attack. My heartfelt condolences to all of the bereaved families of the innocent victims and the brave firefighters who perished in this terrible tragedy. Post 9/11, we can't say that such attacks won't happen in the future, considering the unstable global security scenario, so we have to be prepared for it. I hope all the commercial buildings made now should be able to withstand similar terrorist attacks in the future. May God bless New York, and may God bless America !
Many reasons, nobody thought the second tower would be hit, they certainly couldn't imagine the towers collapsing. They were advised to stay inside to that they wouldn't be hurt by the debris (and people) falling down outside as well as making way and space of the rescue workers and firemen working on tower 1.

She was a very pretty girl and now looks awful. Plastic surgery lip injections etc. why can’t people just look the way they are supposed to look. Tragic what she and everyone else went through. Those that were killed I can’t imagine what it must have been like in those towers. Being alert and orientated and all of the sudden you hear this huge crashing noise not knowing what is then happening horrific day in history.

Now; there's no way to ever know for sure; but according to multiple documentaries; the CIA knew of al queda. They hadn't known all that long prior; but they knew enough to know of their existence and recognize the threat they posed to the country especially. CIA has and still to this day responsible for a lot of corruption within the country. There's some bad agents poisoning the well. But there's good ones too. The FBI was furious with the CIA afterwards; when they realized that the CIA knew of this terrorist organization and their hatred of America, and chose not to reveal this to them like they are obligated to do per protocol. But I highly doubt Bush knew of them and def did not know plans for them to attack prior to learning about it in that Florida elementary school classroom that morning. At best; and this is very believable, there were ppl in congress that were secretly involved in corruption and destroying the country and I believe wholeheartedly that their agenda is at an all time high today; and its some of the same ppl or at least; same agenda. Bush having prior knowledge and in on this attack is nothing more than a conspiracy theory to me; but of course I'd be interested to see links that support this theory. I could be wrong; but I just don't think so...
