- Granblue Fantasy: Relink is easily one of my favorite games of all time and the final boss theme, End of Ragnarok, is just....amazing. There's a lot to enjoy here and it just goes so hard.

Man i can't wait for Marco to start reacting to Paradise Lost, Existence, Zero, The Ultimate, Rose Queen, and so many other legitimate bangers the franchise has. When FaaHL drops I'm waiting for the Zero reaction vid. Marco's reaction on Morning Light Hymnus and Armageddon is what got me into the channel besides the HI3rd reactions.

One thing I absolutely love regarding Granblue music is how good they are at using past songs and rearrange them or use leitmotiffs to expand on their new tales.
End of Ragnarok is a song that really gets you into the fight, specially on the story mode one where you can tell how it helps support and enhance the moments you are experiencing in battle. It fills you with a desire to win, to rescue Id and go back home with everyone no matter the struggles.
The vocalist Fumito Endi just quote tweeted this video
I love how they didn't just repurpose Proto Bahamut or Ultimate Bahamut's theme. Just like Versa is a branch of Bahamut they created a new theme that is adjacent to The Ultimate for Ultimate Bahamut.
They used the Stella Magna version of PBH's theme for his fight though

@@LilacAsteria yeah thats normal to me since it's still PBAHA though it would've been neat to have a hint of The Ultimate come out when he goes partial Super (White and Blue aura). We'll probably get the standard Faa-san song. I feel like it'd cause too much uproar if we didn't... as long as it's not the Rising version as while most of the songs in Rising are pretty good.... Faa-san's song was kinda butchered.

In fact I think the whole Song is from Ids perspective, they even argue with each other in the growling part.

The one absolutely shredding on the guitar would likely be the lead composer of the game Tsutomu Narita, the singer is Endo Fubito who also sings The Ultimate, Wings of Terror and Zero. Those songs you'll absolutely love too I'm sure lol
9:09 It's a callback to Id's theme Vow and Promise. All the references to his theme really sell this finale. The relationship between Id's theme and Bahamut Versa's theme is so good.
Granblue always do callbacks or the usage of leit motif and I absolutely love how they do it!
Even the beginning of the song is just a slower version of the beginning of Id’s boss theme
15:26 and onwards is so perfect. It fits perfectly for both the gameplay and narrative with you desparately fighting an unwinnable fight, struggling to win back Id's mind and right as he comes back to his senses and in turn saves dancho and Lyria the choir kicks in and we get the lyrical climax. Such a perfect moment that elevates the gameplay experience tenfold
Granblue Fantasy music has always been sooo good to me, some of my favorite bangers from the gacha include "small fish in a small pond", "existence" and "for you".
I wonder if we'll get a big boss fight in celebration of it's 10th anniversary with a banger soundtrack too.

Clearing Proud Bahamut Versa for the first time with just my partner and two AI and this track playing at full blast, swelling at just the right moments, with an absolutely epic final push mere seconds away from disaster, saved by the sudden 100% Skybound Art gauge of a certain adorable alchemist... one of my favorite moments in all of gaming.
The lyrics itself really shows how bahamut desperately wants to change the Sky realm. “Blue, so blue, it’s blue wherever I go(Aoku, aoku, aoku dokomademo). Who on earth made this world? Is there a god? If there’s no god I’ll take matters to my own hands! Rebirth and destruction!” Bahamut really hates the lonely empty blue sky

I haven't played the game yet (nobody in my country brought it so i had to import it) and i'm already obsessed with this song.
Around 15:20 when you heard that dark voice it's probably Bahamut Versa talking to Id.
The whole fight and most of the music is about ID conflicting identity, should i be the dragon and destroy everything or should stay in this world and fight with my friends. Rebirth and destruction.
I don't know a lot about granblue but I've noticed that seemingly every theme that has to do with fighting a Bahamut has the phrase "rebirth and destruction"
Bahamut (and his variants) is a god, the creator of the world (called the "Omnipotent"). He split into two, one of which is the god of rebirth and the other is of destruction. It's a bit difficult to put into words, but it's basically like the cycle of life as set by god himself!
A slight correction - the Sky God Bahamut embodies _both_ destruction and rebirth, which is why the world Gran and the others live in is governed by natural laws like apoptosis, evolution, and samsara. The other part of the Omnipotent, the Star God (whose name I don't think we know) embodies preservation and creation, and this is why the Astrals who come from the Star God's realm are immortal and unchanging beings. (The handful of Astrals who do change, like Ares and Rolan, are explicitly stated to be able to change and grow because of Bahamut's influence.)
The lyrics to me represent Id as a character, a man who was forced to do evil action and exploited his entire life but a good person at heart. I believe the dark voice says something like “Just do what the mission requires” and the lyrics yearning for “someplace I belong” really feels like it’s tying into Id’s character, as well as other people pointing out how it callbacks to Id’s theme. Fun fact this song also references Zero, Lucilius’ theme too with one of its motifs it uses.
While i commented last time about the final final boss' theme being amazing and being a dps increase lol, I've recently been really enjoying the 2nd final superboss' theme once I finally found it. "Burning out the blue" is the track name and for some reason both it and the last superbosses themes dont pop up in the journal. It's not a crazy vocal track like Ragnarok, but its still a really good them for the fight and how hectic it can get.
Burning out the blue is originally a song from their 7th anniversary event in the mobile game, it was released in an album a while ago so maybe that's why you won't find it in the journal.
It's also a rearrange of the song "A Distant Journey, Soaring on the Battlefront", in case you are interested.
Yeah, Burning out the blue is a really great track too. It's also used for the raid/boss fight against Diaspora, the raid boss from the "Home Sweet Moon" story event, which also features the Society members, like Zeta and Vaseraga. Pyet-A (the boss who we fought in the quest Automagod Strikes Back) was actually piloted by the MC Gran/Djeeta when they staged a mission to go to a moon in that event.
I legit bought this game after hearing this soundtrack but hearing this ost in the game during the final boss is just on another level of hype
Marco, you may also want to check out other songs from this same composer in the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising game. “Parade’s Lust” and “Peace and Quiet” are standout songs to me; and since this is a fighting game, you can have fun guessing character personalities with these songs.
Peace and Quiet is fantastic. Originally from one of the Mobile game's best events. So glad they use it for Eustace's theme in Rising too.
Man, I'm just as addicted to this masterpiece as you are, I listen to It pretty everywhere and still, such a banger only fit a banger of a game like Granblue fantasy relink
This track is honestly my favorite from relink, it's really just so good (and IMO the best bahamut theme so far, including those in the main game), the track and lyrics really just elevates the entire story fight so much it's amazing. I know you've also covered some of the main game's tracks before but here's hoping you could give the other main game tracks a try too, GBF is really rich in really good and banger tracks!
I don't know too many people I can share my thoughts and emotional resonance about the music that I listen to. So I'm glad that I've found this channel and that someone shares my thoughts about the songs/tracks but also on top of that can provide more professional information about the structure of a song and how it's built. It might not be a "real conversation" or anything like that but thanks to the Internet I still can get such feedback, it's marvelous.
Versa's theme gets even stronger when listened to alongside the story-battle. The entire battle's phases are structured to follow the music's phases, where damage checks and health bars will stay at 1% until it's time to move on. There is even a "just in case"-segment of the music that's ready to kick in whenever the player does something that halts the progression of the battle (Chain Burst, Link Time, etc.). So we can consider key parts of the song alongside what is happening during the battle. For example:
The first time we hear "Rebirth and Destruction" in the lyrics (a VERY recurring phrase heard in Proto Bahamut's theme; Wings of Terror), Lyria has successfully summoned Proto Bahamut.
During the call & response-segment, Id is beginning to break free from Versa, but Versa tries his darndest to keep the two joined and we have to break him free. So the call & response could also be seen as a conversation between Id and Versa.
Then we get the part after, the choir returns as Versa desperately reaches out for Id, only for Id to reject that hand and move us to the song's final chorus.
As a peace of video game music, this track is one the best. Peak final boss music.
Orchestral theme with insane guitar and chorus/vocals such as this one and Azure Arbitrator, is one of the greatest combinations in music ever

God when I jumped into this battle for the first time it was so thrilling (and it still is). I'm also not very good in these kinds of gameplay that needs proper dodging so I ended up dying quite a lot in my first few tries BUT I never felt discouraged and instead I felt more empowered to try better... I just have to do this! I must beat that giant lizard to save the skies and our friend! 😢💛

Been listening to this song almost daily since I finished the story, it's just so freaking good. Relink is the first Granblue game I've played, but I've been following some of their music for a while now. If you're looking for some fun granblue music to check out, the character themes from GBF Versus (and/or Versus Rising) have a lot of good variation in style and genre. Some personal favorites are cagliostro, charlotta, and zeta, but they're all good. Nier's theme is a really unique one that could make for a fun video, and speaking of nier, 2B just got added to GBF Versus Rising and with her came a new version of Weight of the World. Just some food for thought if you're looking for inspiration!

Knowing japanese make this so much better as it calls back to the original ultimate bahamut theme
So, that part where there there was a long melody before the final chorus, the lyrics was like "subete kono sora" which translates to "everything is for this sky" as the camera pans to Id breaking free from Versa's influence and cried that he will be the protector of the sky, the people, and Lyria. It was the best part of the song.
I was loving the game and then this banger hit and I was absolutely blown away.
There is the browser version Granblue Fantasy for Bahamut's OST, has the same Singer. You could get a similar reaction to this. It's called 'Granblue Fantasy THE ULTIMATE'.
I just really love how Marco was explaining every detail of the song at the start of the video, but then as it went on he just didn't want to pause it and was just enjoying it lol. Really shows how good it is when you don't wanna pause it anymore.

One interesting detail with the reveal of the official lyrics is the callback to The Ultimate. Now all the Bahamut songs in Granblue have recurring themes but specifically, the chanting at the beginning of End of Ragnarok is an English refrain of the Japanese lyrics at the end of The Ultimate.
They're not exactly the same though. In The Ultimate the lyrics seem to come off in a way that something that is about to happen or the lyrics are telling you to do something but in End of Ragnarok the lyrics are written as if that event has come to pass or it's a response to the command.
In GBF's universe, almost all of those music representing the whole entire character/boss/world, and this, is representing Id and Versa's conversation.
Id's questioning himself what he's doing, what is the truth and if he's doing things right, on the other hand telling Versa if yea giving me strength, then I will use it to fight back you to protect what I want, telling Versa's his own WILL.
'Rebirth and Destruction', this phrase have repeated many time, and this is always the core of Bahamut of GBF's, its his authority as the mirror of god of the whole world. Wing of Terror(Proto Bahamut), The Ultimate(Ultimate Bahamut) and End of Ragnarök(Bahamut Versa) all are having this phrases.

It says 'The sky allover is Azur, and who is creating this Granblue world, our world'. This is the core of GBF. There have a scenario story of Faa-san, whom we are going to meet at March's DLC, his servant Berial have asked one question 'Why you are thinking the sky is always blue, who made it, why he is doing all this', which have left a huge mystery for the whole story line.
And this masterpiece Showns up at the end of the 1st part of the story.

At last we are going to fight Faa-san anyways, and this shit blows up many player's mind.

One thing is, these great music are only made for a gacha game, a phone game, but having a video game, or even higher quality, GBF keeps surprising us with its great music, if Macro you have time, you may try to dig into GBF's world by listening to its music🙂, I'm sure you will like those.
ugh. The DLC boss is Lucilius or LuciFaa, just call him Faa-san like Belial and most players did. He is completely different from Lucifer aka his creation. Most people that not familliar with GBF lore will likely use wiki and if you type Lucifer it's a different character and got even more confuse because they look the same lmao.

Just finished the final boss the other day and the whole time I was so distracted by how incredible this song was. One of my favorite OSTs I've heard from a game in years. The male vocalist in this song reminds me of the main singer for the band Ningen Isu (which you should check out, they are dope)

I really suggest you to listen and react to the other Bahamut themes, as its to be expected, this track contains a lot of callbacks to them, specially when it goes "Rebirth and Destruction" and one oher line that is translated to "stay blue°", as someone who plays the gacha a lot, hearing those callbacks really gets you pumped up

The rhyme seems to force us to fight the boss ,but this song is actually crying Ido’s feeling of the void and despair to the world according to the lyric. It is a sad song, with strong will to fight.

Small little extra for you! all the bahamut themes in gbf (there's 3 now dark silverwings[Proto Bahamut], the ultimate[ultimate bahamut], and end of ragnarok[bahamut versa]. fun fact there is a collab with persona 5 that makes proto bahamut's theme with p5 vibes, its called "dominion black dragon" and there is an april fools version of proto bahamut's theme "vyrn sing a bahamut's song") are all done by the same singer, Fubito Endo. also, they all share the lyric "rebirth and destruction" that's because bahamut is the god of rebirth and destruction!
the singer in the gbf themes are usually a rappresentation of the character, so u can kinda consider fubito as the voice of god kind of in this game, he also sings in "zero", why? my personal theory is that because lucillius wants to replace god he gets endo as the singer for his theme.
My theory is that GBF songs represent whose its belong to mostly depend on the language it use. For example English is mostly used to represent Primals/Astral/Bahamut, Japanese is for Skydwellers. Both Faa-san and Bub song are in English because they are Astrals, Proto Baha/Avatar/Belial's theme are also English because they are Primal Beasts. The World's theme is also English for the same reason. Ultimate Bahamut theme is both in English and Japanese because the last Japanese part is that it's actually was trying to communicate with us players, the same with ...for you that is mostly in Dragon language except the last part. The End of Ragnarok is actually mostly Id talking (which is Japanese) and the English parts are Versa talking though him as you can see in the fight. Small fish in small pond is in Japanese because it's belong to the whole cast of SOR, which are skydwellers.
The only exception I can think of is Eustace's theme that is in English lmao

Now that I'm thinking about it, has anyone recommended any Ys ost? Because there's a lot of amazing musics across the series! Like A-To-Z from Ys VIII is easily one of my favorite boss theme.

it's kinda funny when you say the vowel is sang really well, the song is moslyt in Japanese so ofc the vowel gonna be great cus you know, it's how their alphebet sound =))
Actually, I was kinda surprised when I heard the pop song like singing start during the bossfight, because while the rest of the soundtrack was building the atmosphere for me, the singing was rather distracting. The rest of the soundtrack was subconsciously hyping me up, but the singing was too obtrusive for me.
This is much less of a problem when listening to the sountrack by itself though.
I did not watched the video yet and I will not do it for the moment, but I really really hope that thumbnail is NOT spoiler. Come on, Marco, never use this kind of pictures for the thumbnail. Every time there is a new game, a lot of people (willing or not) spoiler things with the thumbnails, between final bosses, important moments of the games etc. etc.
We purposefully didn’t spoil the boss and changed the thumbnail. This thumbnail has no context. Just two guys fighting. Also it has been a month + which is beyond the general two week unwritten rule. I thought of all of this before asking my thumbnail editor to change the original.
Too bad this is the only piece memorable from the whole game for me. I heard gatcha music is top, music in this game was mid overall.
