My biggest LEGO regret was buying the Pet Shop instead of Town Hall. I thought “Oh, I’ll buy Pet Shop first because it’s older, it might retire soon! I’ll get Town Hall later.”. And “soon” enough, the Town Hall just disappeared, and the Pet Shop just REFUSED to die!
Thanks for this comparison, sir. I'm amongst the lucky few who can proud themselves collecting the entire modular line since the beginning in 2007. Meanwhile I've managed to build a nice city around the modular buildings ever expanding with MOCs of very talented builders. Looking forward to the announcement of the new modular for 2019...I do understand that a lot of people would love to see a re-release of older buildings. However I of course hope for a new exiting design. Best regards from Germany.
I'd hope that IF the rumors of early modular re-releases are true, they would be in ADDITION to whatever new building comes out, and not in place of it. Lego is, after all, a business - and as many sales as a re-release of CC, GG, or MS might net them, it would also be totally alienating to all those collectors who already own them. Since these modulars are only coming out once a year, that would mean them setting aside a whole bunch of income for a whole year just to appease a few of us newer fans who weren't around back in the early modular days... As much as I and others might appreciate that, I think it would be lame not to get a new one for 2019, and I think Lego wouldn't make a business move that would cost them sales and (most likely) anger a bunch of people. All of that conspires to make me believe that any re-release would be made in addition to whatever new set we'll be seeing for 2019, and wouldn't mean no new building for 2019. Either way, I think the best argument against those rumors being true is the interior detailing. As awesome as the old modulars are, I'd suspect people who have only been around for the newer ones might be disappointed with their sparse or empty interior spaces. It would make more sense for them to be updated with interiors, which would either require a redesign of their exteriors to remove parts, or a noticeable increase in price to account for the extra parts. Neither of those options seem all that likely to me, as much as I would be the first in line to buy them.
@@carellicollectables I fully support what you say: the lack of interior would be quite disappointing for many people. I could agree to a re-release but with full interior designs...I would even buy those sets in addition to the originals that I already own. However I'd prefer the other option that you are bringing forward here of getting a new 2019 modular and get the re-release of CC or GG as part of a "all*stars" theme.
@@carellicollectables what are the rumours about new 2019 mobular? Last year in November we already had a leak photo of Downtown Diner and today we don't have anything about 2019 modular except someones MOC Post Office. Could it be next modular? What do You think? community.brickpicker.com/forums/topic/19373-modular-post-office-moc/
I miss your videos, Brick Picker. I especially like these Modular videos. I hope you make another video with the new modular that'a releasing next year.
Wow, very nice to have the Grand Emporium getting the praise it deserves! It is actually the first modular I bought and now I'm really looking forward to buying some of the new ones!
I've met a lot of Lego collectors and have done a lot of trades myself, never came across someone who measures Lego value in pounds. It's usually done per piece and there is a good reason for that. Also the Town Hall didn't have 3.825 pieces but 2.785 incl Extra exkl. Minifigs.
Gotta be honest here; I really don't get the thing you go off on a lot about the newer modulars being too full of things, and not having room to add your own stuff - it's all lego. It's customizable. You can always make the room to add your own stuff. So far, I ONLY own the newer modulars from Parisian, Detective's, Brick Bank, etc... and I've had no issue making my own custom builds and modifications to put into them. The fact that their insides aren't completely empty doesn't prevent anyone from doing their own thing with them. Seems like a really odd comment to make as often as you do. My next modular buy will be tracking down a Palace Cinema on Bricklink, and I've already got LDD plans to re-design the whole 2nd floor without using any additional parts.... I don't see the conflict.
I have a question about the value of lighting sets for the modulars. If you are buying with the intent to resell legos as many of us are, how much does the lighting kit add to the value of set when you are ready to sell it?
that is far from the golden age of modulars. all of those are simply unfinished with horrendeously empty interiors golden age is parisian restaurant, detective office, brick bank, assembly square and downtown diner. the garage was nothing special.
Wholly agreed, the level of interior under Jaime Berard was awesome. With tiled interiors and great mini builds and some storylines to the sets and the design techniques are all just really nice
I don't think any modular is lacking but they all vary on different levels of good. I personally think the least best ones are Market Street, Book Shop and Corner Garage but they each have aspects of them which have their place within a Lego street display.
Please make a part 3 about the Parisian Restaurant, Detective's Office and Brick Bank. This is such a great series.
Id like to see part 3 damnit.
This is a great and underrated channel. The level of quality here is very good. Deffinetly deserve more subscribers:)

Same here.
that was me when i got the grand emporium instead of the fire brigade, but the grand emporium retired soon after so i wasn’t trippin

are you making also part 3 with the modulars starting with the Parisian Restaurant? Would be great.
I remember being IN LOVE with the palace cinema... And then it retired... I got the parisian restaurant though, which is also awesome!
Please make a part 3! These videos are awesome.
I miss your videos, Brick Picker. I especially like these Modular videos. I hope you make another video with the new modular that'a releasing next year.
This is how I would rank them.
1. Fire Brigade
2. Pet Shop
3. Palace Cinema
4. City Hall
5. Palace Cinema
I mean Grand Emporium for #5
I have Pet shop, town hall, fire brigade, palace cinema, detectives office, and Parisian Restaurant. You are right, that truly was the golden age!!
Wow, very nice to have the Grand Emporium getting the praise it deserves! It is actually the first modular I bought and now I'm really looking forward to buying some of the new ones!
Thank you! Checking back all the time for part 3!!
What timing! I just picked up all of these minus the palace cinema from a friend for only $300! Very excited to put them together!
That's what I call a deal
You sure they weren't fake? Seems too good to be true.
When part 3? ☺️

I'm so lucky that i got the pet shop and palace cinema for my birthday 2 years ago.
can you please make a third episode of the series.. it is long overdue ☺️☺️
Palace cinema just sitting in my lego vault ready to be built

@The Lone Henro the price per part ratio remains right the same, whether the parts are on the exterior or interior; so no.
Finally! Really like your videos!
Awesome as always!!! :)
So why was town hall out for such a short period compared to the rest in its period as you describe?
I have a question about the value of lighting sets for the modulars. If you are buying with the intent to resell legos as many of us are, how much does the lighting kit add to the value of set when you are ready to sell it?
Town Hall is the best. How can you not have a Town Hall in a LEGO city.
Where did you get your shelving? Thanks
part 3 is taking forever it’s been 3 years
Part 3 never came I guess? Kinda sad as I absolutely like your view on the modular buildings.
So when is the promised video with Art Nouveau modulars coming out?
So how about that next art nouveau video?
Hello, great reviews! But where do You got this pieces count of Town hall - 3825? I checked it on BL and in Lego shop and it says only 2766 pieces :)
The saddest thing about the town hall is it was designed by an actual architect but despite that it fails to follow proper classical proportions
my first modular building is the Cinema and then up to the diner...
that is far from the golden age of modulars. all of those are simply unfinished with horrendeously empty interiors
golden age is parisian restaurant, detective office, brick bank, assembly square and downtown diner.
the garage was nothing special.

Cheong Hien I don’t know if you know this, but Jamie also designed Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, and Fire Brigade.
Great channel 👍👌
I really want the cinema or pet shop
You can still buy these sets in The Netherlands in some shops. Not on the internet
im getting the fire station soon but is mystery brand :D
we need part 3 lol
I own all of them except the pet store, which I don’t like.
The last amazing modular: Assembly square
The last great modular: Downtown diner
The last good modular: Corner garage
The last ok modular: Bookshop
I don't think any modular is lacking but they all vary on different levels of good. I personally think the least best ones are Market Street, Book Shop and Corner Garage but they each have aspects of them which have their place within a Lego street display.
i have the lepin pet shop :D
The next modular building is going to be a Chinese restaurant (unfortunately)
That sounds awesome though!
How do you know?
Since I posted this comment this information is now Been found out not to be true
First yes!
