I love fruitcake. Yellow cake with candied fruit in it. Love the tour of the street fair. I'm sorry you couldn't find any fruitcake. I remember many years ago Walgreens and Merrill's drug stores used to sell fruitcake in round tin containers for Christmas. Thanks for showing us around. You and Jim take care.
Thanks for sharing that memory about the fruitcake tins! Those were the best. I’m still searching for one. Hopefully I can find one before Christmas lol! 😄👍
Steve I loved your tour of historical places in Palm Springs WOW especially Gloria Swanson's Palm Springs home. Gloria owned around five homes at that time including New York and Hollywood. Thanks Steve you're a gem ☺️
Hello Steve, we sure do eat fruit cake. A very good friend of ours makes them. The right way from an old recipe. Full of nuts and candied fruits. Wrapped in cheese cloth dipped in rum and aged.
How fun that you got to do that Danette. It’s definitely a small world isn’t it? They are supposed to be lighting up the Marilyn statue like a Christmas tree this year. I’m going to try to get down there to see that before Christmas. 😳😄👍
I love my homemade fruitcake. My mom’s recipe. All your walking you doctor is going to be amazed at how well you are and will wonder what you have been doing. So fun to “stroll along on your walks”
@ I went through 2 episodes myself, 1 a virus and 1 broken heart syndrome from an auto accident and had to carry around a portable defibrillator for 3 months each time and did a lot of walking, I am like you, very grateful for return to good health.
My step Dad loves fruit cake my mom made it every year for Christmas I don’t care for it my favorite Christmas is my mom and grandmother making Carmel turtles great video Steve really enjoyed all of them
Looked like a fun way to spend an evening. Live music and so many vendors. Speaking of fruitcake, you need to try Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana TX. They are the best! Expensive but oh so good! Look them up, you’ll be glad you did. Happy Holidays 🎄
Hi Mr Steve, that was cool 😎 I understand the copy rights music; however, I sure wanted to hear that band with the red jackets. I love the traditional fruit cake. That was a long stretch of walking. Thanks for all you do to entertain us. Mom and I really adore you. Seasons Greetings from the great Peach State of Georgia. 🎅 🎄 ❤🎉
The very first song that band did was an amazing cover of a Stevie Wonder Christmas song. I wish I could’ve shared it. I hadn’t heard that song in years. Glad you guys enjoyed it. 🎄😄👍
I have been to Village Fest before on a Thursday night and it was Big Fun, but never the holiday version. Hard not to find something that you would like or a gift to give. Happy Holidays 🎄 Paul
My husband and I were there; it was a good place to pick up some small gifts to take back east with us, and lots of food and snacks to munch on. So sorry we didn’t see you there!
Hi Steve...the street fest looks like fun...lots of food..drinks...the vintage people ...very interesting items to purchase....did you get fruitcake...I didn't like it as a kid but now I do ..very sweet...I might buy some for Christmas dinner ......thanks for the tour ..... Deborah 🇨🇦🙏❤️🎄😄
I just want one of the really small loaves of fruit cake that I’ve seen in the past. I keep searching but so far no luck. I’m not going to give up though lol! 😂
Good morning Steve. We love the village fest. What’s funny…we attended village fest more when we lived in Moreno Valley than we do now. This is a good reminder to visit it again. 👍🏼👍🏼❤️
Back in the day when my father was alive. I always got him a fruit cake every Christmas. He seemed to enjoy it, but no one else did. Happy Holidays! 🎄☃️❄️⭐️great video and nice to watch!! 🎅🏻
Google the famous fruitcake company in Texas. The tins are beautiful and they are really good. Very nice walk through and the band sounded good. Enjoy your weekend. 😸🎄👍
Hi, Steve ! My grandmother used to get fruit cakes every Christmas and she always said " I thought I got rid of this last year " 😅😅 Now, we all look for it just to remember her. By the way, the " Smelly Bastard " is Palm Springs, CA, based company it sells handmade soaps, essential oils, goat's milk products and candles at affordable prices. Thank you for the walk through the Street Fair. 👋😎👍
Lol your grandmother sounds like she was awesome. And that’s the same reason I like to have a piece every Christmas to remember mine. Thanks for the update on the smelly bastard lol. I wish I had stopped and actually smelled what people were smelling. There was just so much going on. I was so overwhelmed by all the sites and I wasn’t really paying attention. It didn’t occurred to me until after I left that it was probably a good smell. Thanks for clearing that up. 😆👍
Yuck I have never liked fruit cake I remember my mom loved it so she would make one every Christmas 😂 thanks for sharing Steve ! Have a great weekend ❤
When I was a kid my parents got a fruit cake for a present. I remember my mom saying to my dad just regifted to your aunt she's fruity she'll like it . And I said you mean fruity Aunt Max. They yelled at me for saying it. But they said it first lol but it was a sin when I said it
Merry Christmas Steve! That’s one of my favorite hangouts 😊, in front of the Rowan at the Starbucks. I really need a Thursday night street fair. I love them.
Hi Steve from Australia 🇦🇺 Xmas cake is a must have for me and I always used to get mine off a friend of my fathers who was an army chef back in the war. He used to make mine to order as I didn’t want orange peel or glacé cherries in mine, it was so heavy and moist. He has since passed and I’ve moved to a coastal town so didn’t think I’d get to have Xmas cake again until I found a nice one at one of our local bakeries. Obviously nothing will ever beat my army chefs Xmas cake but this one is nice enough. Tradition at Xmas and Easter is very important to me so I hope my grandkids carry on with some of my traditions and my grandson loves Xmas cake so I buy one especially for him to take home. They come in nice tins to keep them fresh and moist. Merry Christmas Steve to you and Jim, hope we get another video from you before Xmas as I know how hectic it gets the week before Xmas 🎄
Thanks for sharing that lovely family tradition and memory with us Lee. More videos to come. I’ve been trying to do one video every day this December. So far I haven’t missed a day. 😄 merry Christmas to you and yours. 🎄😎👍
Yes, my Grandmother and mother made it also. I found on the Vermont Country Store website Original Dresdner Stollen Tin (which doesn't use high fructose or the other bad sugars and preservatives,) but it costs $55 with shipping. Homemade is best.
@@EarlyRiser-- Hi EarlyRiser. Thank you for your message. I just ate some Dresdner Stollen. It's nowhere near how my mom made it. Wow, that sure is expensive over there. If it's shipped from Germany, I guess it is.
@@ingrid-7777 Wonderful, my grandparents came from Germany and my mom continued the holiday traditions! This Dresdner stollen costs more since it is made in Germany and must be made by hand (in Dresden) with the required ingredients. No artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners are allowed. Most of the stollens sold in the US are full of preservatives and not worth it if you've tasted the real thing.
OMG all that good good...I would have eaten so much and had a bag of goodies to take home too. Great fun video but just I say No to fruitcake Bro. lol 😃
Wow, that was a crowded Village Fest! Nice walkthrough. That Heavenly Fruitcake was probably pretty good since they use low sugar, but if you are looking for the commercial kind, look at the ingredients, and you may never eat it again. Vons has one with every preservative created, with high fructose and corn syrups, plus all those dyes. Most of the supermarkets sell the super preservative kind of fruitcake.
Yikes, that’s why I don’t look at the ingredients lol! 😳 I really only need a few bites.Just to relive the old days when we didn’t know how bad all of our food was for us lol! 😂

Yes I still like to have a little fruitcake at Christmas. We ordered two 1lb fruitcakes from the Claxton Bakery in Claxton Georgia. One is a regular one and the other one is a dark one. 🙂

No fruitcake. No See’s candy. Someone is getting old. 😂
Lol you noticed that huh? I’m turning into mom and grandma right before my own eyes. 😳🤪😂
A BIG street fair!! Wow! Thanks for the journey😎
Yuck I have never liked fruit cake I remember my mom loved it so she would make one every Christmas 😂 thanks for sharing Steve ! Have a great weekend ❤
Lol it's funny how everyone has such strong opinions about fruitcake! 😄

Hello Steve! Thank you for continuing this Great Palm Springs Festival. I sure wish we could have heard The Vintage People ? 🌺
I know, they were actually very good. I was surprised at how good all of the bands were. Darn copyright music lol! 😂

Lol now that is a fun and funny memory. Thanks for the laugh and thanks for sharing that with us. 🤣
I miss my mom's fruitcake. She made a huge batch of them every year and they would get a drenching in peach brandy. 🤤🤤
Thanks for sharing that nice memory with us Shiliela!
Looks like fun 😊
Yes, very fun! :-)
Merry Christmas Steve! That’s one of my favorite hangouts 😊, in front of the Rowan at the Starbucks. I really need a Thursday night street fair. I love them.
I agree, Diane. It is one of the most popular spots in Palm Springs. Maybe I will see you there one day. 😄👍

Holiday Village Fest looks like alot of fun, I love traditional fruitcake dark one with loads candied fruit cherries currants
I know what you mean about the dark one! It's the best! 😄👍
That was a huge street bazar but no fruitcake for you.
This was great, thanks for taking us along. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks so much Vahne, for coming along! Merry Christmas to you and your too! ⛄️🎄🎁😄👍
Steve loved your tour , and as always great video !
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it Ettore 😄

Thanks for watching Renee. It sure was. 😄👍

Lol fruitcake definitely seems to be not very popular these days. 😳😂
Awesome video Thank YOU!!!!
Thanks, Norma! 😄👍
You whet my appetite for my visit next month. Unfortunately, I won't make the street fair this year, but I see about 10 things I would buy.

I like fruitcake too! But I have to buy or make- no one in the family makes fruitcake anymore! No Gingerbread cookies only a fe bakeries!
Lol I never understood why fruitcake got such a bad rap! 😳😂
Took my husband to Village Fest last month and found some really nice treasures to take back home.
It is such a great place to find unique gifts! Thanks for sharing with us Bryan. Glad you guys got to attend too! :-)
Hey Steve love the video this was fun and were is Jim no fruit cake for me.
Glad you enjoyed it Syreeta. I’m lucky if I can get him out of the house once or twice a year lol! 😂
That is quite the Xmas fair. I would be into sampling some of the goodies. My mother made fruitcake. It wasn't my fave, however. I remember things like mince tarts, pound cake, Xmas cookies. Turkey dinner with all the fixins....
It wasn’t my favorite either, but now I like it more because the nostalgia I think lol! 😄👍
I do like the nostalgia, and all the associated yummies and customs.🎅
They shouldn’t be able to penalize you for any music being played at a public event like a street fair!thanks for sharing this with us
I know, right? 🙁 on the other hand, if it were my music, I would probably want to be monetized every time someone played it too. 😄👍
Yes I still like to have a little fruitcake at Christmas. We ordered two 1lb fruitcakes from the Claxton Bakery in Claxton Georgia. One is a regular one and the other one is a dark one. 🙂
Interesting. I didn't know there were different types. Ours must have been the dark version.
Steve, you kill me talkin about how cold it was ( 60 ). I would love sixty degrees right now. It was fourteen degrees
here last night Brrrrrrrr !

I love a good fresh and moist fruit cake. It’s the dry mass produced fruitcakes that give it a bad name.
To actively seek a fruit cake is like a class E felony! Step away from the fruitcake young man… have you lost your mind?🤢🤮🤣

It’s definitely an acquired taste lol! 😂
