Welcome aboard! 👍🏼🙏🏾I'm not sure if I should be happy about people talking about my channel in a subreddit, but I hope it is not all negative. 🫣 Being raised in the Netherlands since I was three, it is no surprise I have a Dutch accent 😅
@@chefknivesenthusiast This is the quote when discussing the best resources for learning about different Japanese knifemakers: "The RUclips channel « chef knives enthusiasts » is a treasure of knowledge and meme and a cat" :)
I had to look the L6 steel up. For those who don’t know, it is a steel commonly used in industrial band saw blades and other saw blades. Consensus is it’s very tough steel, that takes a good edge, is a little more difficult to sharpen than equivalents and is very reactive. Those who are not meticulous about cleaning the blade while using it would probably want to force a patina on it. Hello Kitty 🐱, still loving that box I see.
I actually had a little 2 minute segment in this video about the steel, but I edited it out. My cat said "I could have googled that myself" after that segment. And looky here, you did exactly that.
I had a Nikiri and a Petty shipped to the US for $35, so its not too bad. I also bought a cutting board from them, shipping was not cheap for that (it is heavy af).
As far as I know, these Indonesian artisans have never been outside their country (it's a thing in 3rd world countries). I guess they just googled "how to make Japanese kitchen knives", and here we are. All their knives are proudly made by Indonesians.
I had a custom design made from Kitchen knives ID and their Keskin series grind is thin and enjoyable to use, also the fit and finish is very nice 😊
Thanks for sharing! I should try one of the Keskin blades as well. Perhaps even finish a trilogy and review one of them 🤔
Heard about your channel on the sharpening subreddit, I hear a Dutch accent in first 2 seconds. Love it ❤

Nice to see your face and your cat's face Hendra. Great video!
Thanks bro-san! 🙏🏾 I'll try to make videos more often than last year. But yeah. Life is what happens when I'm busy making other plans 🤷🏽♂️
how much is it to send a knife to holland.. they are pretty and not very expensive though!

I think it is somewhere around €25
If you order a knife from them, they will tell you.
I’d probably order one if they would send yo the states. Nice looking knives at a good price.
You can contact them via DM on Instagram or send them and email (kitchenknives.id@gmail.com). I think they ship worldwide.
I’ll do that now! Thank you! 👍🏼
They're pretty well done, good to see another country taking on that art, did one of them train in japan?
