      If he said that too, then he has completely lost it. Mainstream media has been an integral part of the remainer establishment determined to punish Johnson for Brexit and ensure he did not lead the Tories in the next election. Neil started by referring to a committee that set the bar lower for Johnson and will raise it again for the next politician accused of deceiving parliament, with a chairwoman who had said Johnson was guilty before the committee sat. I used to respect Mr. Neil's journalism but advancing years do not always bring wisdom.

      @@anonnemo2504 The only mainstream media that could possibly be called remainer would be the Mirror or the Grauniad. All the others like the Torygraph, Express and Mail have staunchly supported Brexit.
      The only person who has really brought any punishment on Bozo is Bozo, as his lies have caught up with him.
      Who exactly is this remainer establishment? Leaving aside that it's a misnomer, as you can't remain in something you've already left.
      As for Neil's journalism, why was Bozo the only one unwilling to face an interview with at the GE? Anything to do with Neil having utterly monstered Bozo at the time of the Tory leadership contest, by any chance?

    • @gerardmackay8909
      @gerardmackay8909 11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely right, Johnson was never personally popular and as Andrew Neil points out it was desperate Brexit fatigue along with distaste for Corbyn which got him his victory. The only time Bozo ever scraped into positive ratings territory was when he almost died of COVID and currently he has a favourability rating of -47 which just goes to show the level of nonsense spouted by Susannah Reid at the end. Two thirds of the population have a negative view and over half of those don’t just dislike him they LOATHE him. Conversely only one fifth of the electorate currently have a positive opinion of him. I’m only sad he’s not leading them into a GE because Sunak will be thrashed but Bozo would be annihilated.

    The "British" people think this, and the "British" people think that. In the 2019 election the Welsh electorate voted in a majority of Labour MPs, the Northern Irish voted away from unionist parties and in Scotland the conservatives lost more than half their seats. It was the English electorate who wanted Boris - and hopefully, now that they've seen the light, it will be the English who will punish the tories for what he's done to the UK. Fingers crossed.

    • @gerardmackay8909
      @gerardmackay8909 11 месяцев назад +13

      More English people, myself included, voted against the Conservatives than for them in 2019 (FPTP gives an illusion of popularity). Also in 2017 if there hadn’t been a big swing to the Conservatives in Scotland, which saw Ruth Davison grab a fistful of seats, May would never have been able to cobble together that coalition from hell with the DUP.

    It's a bit rich for Andrew Neil to decry Johnson now. Neil has supported almost all of Johnson's policies and was an enabler. It's funny how he also says that people in the North of England happened to view Corbyn as unpatriotic. This wouldn't have anything to do with almost all of mass media, including his own Spectator, repeating it ad infinitum.

    It's not that Boris might come back one day in the future, it's that he will never go away that really scares them. I think he's more likely to become like the psycho in Fatal Attraction ... and to think all he wanted was a peerage for Stanley. I think they will come to regret their decision to unseat him and I look forward to watching them suffer over the next few months.😉

    Neil is talking rubbish when he says nobody could see Sturgeon being arrested. Indy bloggers were ridiculed for raising the issue of the missing £600k long before Murrell's arrest. It was also known that Murrell was avoiding full scrutiny of the accounts as Douglas Chapman MP resigned as treasurer because he was being denied full access.
