You better be really sure you're super over-insured (that's a legal term, very technical) if you're in the rental car business. Lots of liability exposure.
It’s not “over-insured” if you have a need. Get the appropriate amount of coverage your rental business needs. Don’t waste money on an “over-insured” policy.
Wow that was a tight fit! Not a huge fan of side-mounted engines, but you did super well! Plus you lucked out on the power steering pump! Overall, it's a steal of a deal! Wonder if the person renting it grows to love it enough to buy it. Hope your finger is okay, that looked nasty! Wearing gloves after that was a good idea though. Can't wait for the next video!
Bled on the engine while working on a Volvo? As an owner of 3 different Volvos since 2007 (a 245 and two 850s), if you don't bleed while working on a Volvo, did you really work on it?
I use a long extension and listen to each component to find the bad one. Hold it to the part while its running and place your ear on the other end and you will clearly find the bad one next time ! AND check the wheel bearings , i hear them howling !
Super super durable engines as long as you change the oil, change the timing belt/tensioner and never let them overheat. I have almost 220k on mine. Eventually you have to do the PCV system rebuild. Looks like this one the power steering pump leaked and took out the alternator as a bonus. They are very solid, and very quick cars in Turbo form.
@@WrongThink_ there’s only a few places in the world where Rust issues are as bad as Vermont so honestly if that’s the only rust issues it has that’s really not bad at all
I have worked on a handful of volvos and of them all this generation is by far the worst but havent worked on a brand new one. also for noises like that go buy a cheap ass stethoscope from harbor freight
Hope you're going to clean it inside and out for your renter 😅 , subscribed because Waldo told us to and what Waldo says goes huh ? Sweet cheap car that should pretty much last forever , good job
12.50 a day for renting that ia not enough man, any used car you should figure 150$ a month for basic maintenance and that depends how they drive it this car is old something else might break
You think that alternator is bad? Look up the ones on the S80 with the 4.4. Absolute nightmare. When i replace shocks and struts on mine I'm so replacing it just for preventative maintenance.
Those volvo are a tank, just replace the timing belt and water pump and pulley every 100 K miles synthetic motor oil and drain and fill transmission fluid and you'll set, my 2008 s60 2.5t is close to 298K miles and still running strong!
dude you look like you put on about 30 lbs in two months. Im just concerned that you're going to be in a high speed foot pursuit someday and into an alley where you get stuck in between two buildings that are really close together or something
Volvo's of that era are the longest lasting, most rust resistant cars in the rust belt. I have 2 01 V70's , an XC, and a T5, neither have any rust. My 08 CRV the whole rear suspension control arm ripped right off the body from rust.
Like James George says, these cars just do not rust out ... they were even better than the P3-generation Volvos which followed ... Ford's involvement brought some not-so-resilient parts to the chassis. P2 Volvos (2000-ish to 2009-ish, depending on body) are, in my view, up there with the 4Runners and the old Honda Civics of the world -- the cars that will go the longest with the proper care (and a pretty long time without it).
@@benjamindoyle668 I am a tech by trade, that helps the mechanical end, short of catastrophic collision damage, a 30 year lifespan is easy peasy with a P2, even in the rust belt. Most daily driven MI vehicles are done in 15+ years. 2010 models with rocker panels _gone_ , cab corners, box sides flappin' and subframe rot making repair cost exceed the value of the car is just reality here.
These are pretty obnoxious, the 850 generation was a dream to work on. It's going to take Quincy as long to change out the burnt out headlight bulb as it is to replace the powersteering pump and alternator.
Grab your siphon hose next time you want to locate a noise. Use it like a stethoscope, hold one end to your favorite ear and wave the other end around to pin point the source of the noise.😎
Fantastic car if you keep it maintained. They use these, not sure if they still do, over here for medical emergencies. Two people in the car, a qualified driver and a doctor/specialist in case it all needs to go very fast. Those things are build link a tank and really go it seems.

Good job runs well. I’m no Volvo expert for some reason the serpentine belt around the power steering pulley didn’t seem right. I though the ribs of the belt should be riding on and facing the pulley. Either that or the pulley is was changed. I dont know but it seem to run good.
Good job young man you're becoming more of an entrepreneur everyday renting out of car for the summer just out of curiosity how many cars can you own in Vermont in a year without a dealership license?
@dirty d after witnessing what dealers have done to people the last three years, I am not sure why anyone would care about someone flipping some cars. The scam is states protecting dealerships...
It's crazy how low volvo has fallen...you can find v70/v40/s60 ect for under $1500 with issues all the time. But a 240/740/940 can easily run $2000-$4000, despite being 10-20 years older and having more miles.
ARV.... that whistle is usually the pcv system being clogged because of previous wrong oil type used. . These P2 volvos need to use synthetic for systems like the PCV to last without issues . But i hope am wrong as the PCV system is quite expensive sometimes ..... on IPD, last time i checked was US 150 for my 04 .... this one is an 05+ model it may or may not use the same setup. There was a change from 01 to 04 models. The whistling happens usually during start up or while driving.... depending on how clogged up it is. This has been my experience. I miss mine 😂

The clutch pulley bearings go bad on those alternators and can make that noise.

That's the diaphragm in the PCV breather box below the intake manifold (the squel on startup not the grinding noise)
I thought the same thing as I just replaced mine in my 09 XC90
That’s suck to do it twice because the wrong part
Remember ...premium gas....or you will destroy your engine. They will run on regular gas.....But. Heck of a buy.
Not true 😂
The turbo engines have a lower compression ratio so premium gas would be an absolute waste of money.
They only require regular. The ECM takes care of any preignition or knocking.
Lol thst's very false, I own 2 of these cars since new, any gas will do fine. Better acceleration with premium though
I would step on those parts on the ground in about 45 seconds after taking them out 😂
