Heard that said before and it makes me wonder if it is said because we believe there is or could ever be such a thing as a sleeping church. Perhaps it would be better to assume there is no such thing for a church without the Spirit is but a tomb of dead men's bones.

For centuries, the church has been an institution controlled by the state
with religion being a vehicle for the State to exert influence and control.
However now that institutions are collapsing, including religion, people are realizing that living from the heart giving and receiving love is way more important than just going through the motions and calling it a day.
Jesus said in Revelation: because you are neither hot nor cold I will spew you out of my mouth.

I'm with you Eric, I'm "hopeful", not optimistic given the condition of the Church. If the Church truly repents, then things will change for the good. God's waiting to see if we will do the right thing.

The way things are going now, Revelation 20:7-10 comes to mind. Needless to say, Christians are being surrounded, and it is currently not good.

I have to finish reading Bonheoffer now. You are a blessing, Eric. You have given me (actually, God has used you to give me) much to think about.
In the 60s and 70s school failed me as it is still and worse failing very young impressionable kids. I was fortunate that the intelligent, servant of God, Dick Woodward was our pastor in Virginia Beach.

It seems hopeless in here in Canada but God through Jesus is not finished and will destroy the evil in the end. In 1946 they hung politicians and journalists publicaly and people saw justice done. This is war we are in and God will not be mocked and we will see Justice done! Praise Jesus

No power to save, heal, & deliver in the mainstream churches. Going back to the days of Acts & having church n private homes or old rented bldgs & tents seems to be the way God is moving. Ck out Warrior Notes w Captain Kevin who has a Spirit School online. I learned more from him in 6 mos then 60 yrs in the church! Revival is Now! Peace n Jerusalem & salvation for America!❤

I just listened to an interview with the two heads of Stanford's HAI programs and they are optmistic about the newest AI technology. They were interviewed by Peter Robinson and possibly you are of the interview. I intuitively fear they are OVERLY OPTIMISTIC. I believe, as with most technological advances, they are in error. As I view our culural and social issues I don't sense hope offered by AI. What is your opinion concerning HAI?????
Great topic and very riveting. Believe we the "Church" have moved over the edge into the state of strong apostacy. Yet the fact remains not all of "us" have veered off into this present day deception. "God" has always had "His" remnant and now it's time for us to stand. I'm thinking in these last hours a fresh look into (Daniel chp. 9) would be most appropriate.

In the Orthodox Church, bake sales and festivals raise money for supporting and sheltering homeless unwed pregnant girls, also charity medical clinics, which are often staffed by medical professionals who are parishoners, working for free. It's very telling that heterodox don't know what bake sales are for. What are their bake sales funding?
Yes, not sure what the Bake Sale comment was alluding to. I've been a part of Baptist church outreach to feed under-privileged students, filled-$ baby bottle drive for Life Pregnancy counseling, donating/serving at community outreach resale shops. Safe Families for Children, where church families host young un-wed mothers or children while parents have a time of respite. The list goes on. Most are tied to an opportunity to share the Gospel. As believers, in Christ, we are called to good works and making disciples. Many hands are involved. 🕊

Not sure fighting the state or trying to overthrow godless authorities in something Christ was overly concerned with. In fact He actively resisted men's attempts to make Him their King. Hence the Roman empire was concured through the establishment of God's kingdom in the hearts of men without our having to ass.ssin.te our leaders.

Eric is right on point... In my humble opinion .... The religious, denominational legalistic, machine is thankfully what is driving attendees and Pastors away. Religiousity was always concerned about what people will think and how things look. All of this becomes glaringly obvious when you go through messy stuff.... Religion by denominational policy is why great spirit led Pastors are burnt out and are leaving in droves so they can care for people as Christ would.
People are leaving churches in droves because of hypocritical pastors and bigots like Eric. They are a danger to America.

A superb concept, but doesn't appear to be in the bible's prophetic plan for His world. Next (& after 6000 yrs.) comes the rapture of the church. We desperately need to be rescued now. Then the devil will take over utterly (& briefly), claiming we were abducted by aliens, etc., etc.. A grand idea & a book worth reading & praying could happen...yet won't. God bless you, Eric!
Eric has conflated the cause and the effect.
Moses prohibited the Israelites from having civil government, the prophet Samuel warned against the consequences of such an act, and the prophet Isaiah also repeated the words of the Lord God speaking against their evil choices and their violation of the Law Of Moses. The Roman government did not spend three hundred years throwing christians to lions, cutting their heads off, crucifying them, or burning them with fire because christians made the argument of being nice to other people. The early christians went to their deaths because they understood what Moses was all about and made the argument to get rid of their evil governments and live as a free people, an argument that neither you nor any preacher or theologian I am aware of has made since the days of Constantine. The only occasion in which this could have happened was in Luther's day when some of the Germans imagined Luther's teachings to lead them taking over the government offices and running things with a christian point of view. Luther then ran down and compelled the followers to relinquish the offices back to the pagans. With this single act Luther discarded one thousand two hundred years of hopes of a better world and also has stifled any hopes for the next five hundred and where we find ourselves today. Until the churches deal with what Moses had to say nothing will change.

New Covenant Whole Gospel: How many modern Christians cannot honestly answer the first three questions below?
Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary?
What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below.
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

The Greatest Lie against God is the belief in a mortal existence separate and apart from God!!

If you believe you are anything less than the Immortal, Omnipresent Spirit of God, you will appear to suffer the consequences of this belief in a ME that decays and dies....
If I speak of (a mortal self)myself I bear witness to a lie.....
A preacher/priest of the church or bible looks out into an imperfect, mortal world he believes God created and then judges it because he is ignorant of his own Truth of Being, thereby denying the Omnipresence of the Infinite, Perfect Spirit of God....
On the other hand, A Priest of God knows the Infinite, Perfect Spirit of God is the Only Presence, therefore the Only Life. He knows where everything Mortal and Finite Appears to be, only the Infinite, Perfect, Omnipresent Life of God is.
He knows that when he is not attuned to Divine Consciousness(Eternal Life, Immortality, Truth, God), by default, he is attuned to Mortal Consciousness(karmic death, mortality, form, fear, judgment, evil, etc). He knows that every communication Unfolding from God within is to encourage the Spirit/Soul die to the False Sense of Mortal Self, as the Purpose of the Soul is to take Dominion over the only Adversary, the World Mind and it's thoughts tempting him to believe mortality/form/decay is reality.
He knows Divine Love can not express itself through a Material Consciousness.
He knows he that Realizes he is the Son of God has Eternal Life. He then walks through the world of mortal appearances a Divine Being in who the 5 Senses of Mortality have been Impersonalized, and therefore hold no power over him. His fidelity is to the Immortal Spirit he is, and no longer to the mortal sense of life, not of God.
He knows the RESURRECTION takes place when he drops the belief and reliance upon the False Appearances of the World Mind of Mortality through the Acceptance and Realization of God/Spirit being the only Infinite, Perfect, Omnipresent Being, thereby knowing his true self to be the Infinite, Perfect, Omnipresent Spirit of God.
He knows he Must OVERCOME the Mortal Belief he is not Immortal, Divine Being, and Only then can he be called:
A Priest of God
Pick up the Cross of Immortality and Bear it despite mortal appearances and the temptation to entertain them as reality!
To the Degree in which we can walk through the false world of mortality and not be disturbed by it is the Path of the Realized Christ Within!

Yea, you imply Biden is „deeply hostile to the Christian faith.“ Sure. You even call him evil. Wow. That’s quite an accusation. He is a decent fellow American and a devout Catholic. He goes to church more than any other president has in history. He is a faithful husband and a father who loves his children no matter what, and he stands up for good policies that benefit normal people, not just the powerful. Jesus was always for the weak and marginalized, to the point of suprising his followers in how he interacted with these people.
It seems you are conflating this „culture war“ (the conservative fear of losing its dominance in the culture) with a spiritual war (nothing new) and gaslighting a lot of well meaning people, Eric.
Maybe reconsider which side you have chosen in this battle (you really want to have rulers like a ruthless Putin?) and how you are „fighting“.

It has yet to cease amazing me how supposedly 'learned' people who profess to Christianity publicly whine about the state of society that the Bible clearly tells will come about. It always comes from people in a position of personal comfort and self claimed 'assurance'. A Christian knows that they must be still and know that He is God, if a person argues against this, then they don't understand Christianity.
