In this episode of the Quarantine Kitchen, Charlie Berens takes a stab at making his Grandma Sue's Famous Cranberry Sauce recipe. Charlie uses brown sugar, orange juice, and maybe a little too much brandy to make the dish truly his own!

That's also how you make cranberry sauce in the south, just replace brandy with bourbon. (Calling Grandma IS a step)

@@iwinrar5207 : you're right - this video helped me check both things off my list. My family and I are currently sleeping off the cranberry brandy sauce and picking out any random floor debris from our teeth. Fortunately it was quite minor and just added flavoring. 😁

The hilarious thing is, I made my Cranberry sauce the other day already, and I did in fact add brandy (instead of the usual entire bottle of Cranberry wine)

I grew up when making cranberry relish was a family event. We got out the meat grinder, didn't cook ours. First we dumped the 12 oz bags of cranberries in the sink, pick out the bad ones (they sink or are mushy) they should float and be firm.
drain them, cut up 2 oranges, take off most of the peel but not all of it.
Put it all into the meat grinder and catch the ground up bits AND the juice that dripped out.
(we never used this thing to grind meat while I was there)
put the ground up berries, oranges and juice into a bowl. Add sugar till it isn't so bitter. Then refrigerate. Taste test to see if it needs more sugar. Most people think it's too tart and prefer the cooked kind, but I love this way.
When I didn't have a meat grinder I used a blender, but had to add water to get the berries to grind. I freeze the extra so I can eat it again, put it on vanilla ice cream or whatever. I love cranberries more than turkey

Someone pulled a little quarantine remodel on the kitchen.
Fun fact because of the precision pourer on top of the brandy that was only about 2 ounces. An ounce is 4 seconds holding the bottle upside down.
