The Savoy was gorgeous and each time I’ve been the food has been lovely and really good quality.
I went to tea there when it first re-opened and it was lovely, but I don’t eat a lot of meat, so they need up substituting my sandwiches to cucumber and cheese and egg. So basically, that is all I could eat. After eating a few desserts off the platter, they came around again and served me more pastries. Was nice. Have been to a few others, one Brown’s Hotel. Honestly, I can’t eat all of those pastries, so opt out now for going to The Wolsley for Cream Tea or the Cafe Royale Hotel for tea and a sweet. Works out better for me.
Hi Darlene Chandler, that's a shame that you didn't have as much choice. I know F&M and The Savoy do vegetarian and vegan menus as I sat next to a few people that had those options. I must admit I do love the sweet side of the afternoon teas 😍 I will also try and feature more of the tea options in other afternoon teas I do in 2023. I've not been to The Wolseley - did you like it there? Thanks for you support!
I’ve had my afternoon tea time at The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco and it was out of this world . I’ll try The Savoy one in May 2023

Hi Junoke Omotosho, I’ve found each time I’ve been to the Savoy they’ve allowed me to change a few things. I was very tempted to change the cucumber sandwich but tbh I was so full having less sandwiches was fine. This is a question for all you Londoners. If I wanted to get all dressed up in my Sunday Best for a 9:35 once in a lifetime experience of English Afternoon Tea, where would you go? I mean these teas are expensive, but it seems to me that a lot of these videos show it being a mediocre, very rushed almost fast-food-like meal. Most of them don’t even talk about the teas. The wait staff seem rushed and finish the presentation in a nanosecond. This just doesn’t seem very special to me at all. Thoughts?
Not sure about here but way back in the day we were served sandwiches, savories and fresh cakes. We were charged for what was removed from the 3 tier plate. Not at the Savoy though it looks fantastic.

I do find certain places like The Savoy when they provide bottomless afternoon teas it gives people flexibility on how much they want to eat especially for the cost as it’s often a special occasion for people. Do you have any favourite locations you’ve had afternoon teas over the years?
@@josatkin Thank you for your interest. During my salad days, afternoon teas were the norm across towns and cities in the UK. Local fare, cakes etc. supplied by local bakers. Many eventually closed down over the years but they have made a comeback thanks to gifted, young people; small family businesses brave enough to try.

I myself don’t actually drink tea or coffee but I will highlight the options so viewers have an idea. The sandwiches were huge compared to other afternoon teas like the Ritz Paris one. Hi Marie Happyy M. Thanks so much for your comments. Yes it was quite noisy at times so I needed to do voiceovers. I try and make sure I also don't pick up other guests conversations as I've found in the F&M afternoon tea a few people were sitting very close to me and my audio was picking up their conversations . In those situations just doing voiceovers is much better. I have more afternoon teas in other countries that I will be uploading in the coming weeks. Have a lovely day! 🤗

I’ve been to the Savoy a number of times now and found them very consistent which is great. It’s one I like but probably not my favourite to date. I’ll probably do a video reviewing all the afternoon teas to date as an overview

Hey thanks for watching the afternoon tea video. I totally agree as I do prefer afternoon teas that are quite light and airy. I’ve been to a few recently (videos to come soon) that really were quite dark and cramped that I didn’t love. I light F&M for the light open space and like Ritz Paris for that too. The Savoy is also great for the open space and layout. My faves for food is a mix because my fave scones are different to fave savouries & pastries.

Hi, I didn't get to pick the sandwiches or sweets but you can select a different afternoon tea like vegetarian, gluten free etc and this can often change the choices of things. My afternoon tea at Ritz Paris I did get to select some of the desserts which was nice.
Is there a time limit to your table or can you take your time and relax ? A lot of food for one person!!
Hi Yvonne Mc Cullagh Ward, not an official time limit but I have spent 2.5 hours in an afternoon tea before especially if I'm with friends. I've never felt rushed by any of the establishments. I try to also go in the week (usually cheaper and less busy) but I imagine on Saturday they might be more mindful of time/service. even when i go on my own the staff are always really lovely and I usually ask for a break in between the sweet and savoury. The Shard is nice for a modern fun take on a traditional afternoon tea. it's also more informal and has a great view of the whole city which is really lovely. It can get quite busy and noisy in peak times unlike other places like The Savoy with just a pianist playing in the background which is really relaxing but not too loud. A lot of the traditional afternoon teas in London at luxury hotels you often need to book many months in advance. There is a smart casual dress code and I don't think jeans or shorts are allowed. I always like to dress up as it's such a unique experience it makes it half the fun :)
All high teas have a dress code, smart dress, no jeans or shorts and no running shoes/trainers.

Hi Heather Cannady, the standard afternoon tea was £70 but I think weekends are a little more. It’s also technically unlimited food which is pretty good as a special occasion. I’ve been a handful of times now and the staff are amazing. There is a pianist that plays during the afternoon tea which is beautiful too. Thanks for supporting my channel! 😁

What does clotted cream taste like? Is it like butter? Or sweet?
Clotted cream is often used with sweet dishes. It's very smooth and has a firmness to it but not like butter. You should try it and let me know what you think. As you can tell in my videos I love it 😍 Thanks for much for watching!

I have been to The Savoy a few times over the years and always found it such a welcoming place. I had a few dietary changes and they were also very accomodating. The sandwiches were so yummy and fairly big in size compared to other places. The Savoy also don’t rush you if you’re with friends and you don’t have to feel obliged to have more but I find it nice to have the choice.
I just googled the best places in London for afternoon tea, it showed me a list of the top 8, and the Savoy was not on it. #1, the Milestone, #2, doin' it at the Ritz. But of course that doesn't mean that the Savoy isn't good.
I recently went to the Ritz in London and have been to The Savoy a few times now. I find each location I go to can be really different in terms of vibe, service and style setup. Also when I go on my own, to with friends and also with family. I do love afternoon teas in general though which is why I enjoy doing the playlist. Lots more to come over the coming weeks too. Hi Laichi, The Savoy do provide refills for the food and drinks. Each time I have been to the Savoy the staff and service have been excellent. How can you eat your way through everything without feeling bloated & sick
When I book the afternoon teas I often spend some time there and don’t rush eating. It’s always such a relaxing environment and often the servers ask if you’d like a break in the food delivery. In the Savoy I did actually get really I’ll but that was actually sunstroke as I’d been out in the hot weather all day and felt faint….I didn’t it that in the vlog tho 😂 the staff and concierge were absolutely amazing and attentive 👌 Thanks for watching the video

Nice way with all the lovely carbohydrates served at the Savoy's afternoon tea; how much it adds to the waistline. When people complain that they can't lose weight or maintain the ideal weight - there is the answer.
