The difference is that if Harvard is on a resume, your chances of landing great opportunities are greater than say a regular state college. You never saw them on Bill Maher's show, or anything else. There was no Red Eye, or anything similar and thus the core group of Tough Crowd were somewhat conservative in order to differ from the norm, along with guys like Keith Robinson who were socially conservative but fiscally liberal, or Patrice who was pretty moderate. The idea was that they would get pitted against the Hollywood liberal comics they brought on, like Marc Maron, Stephen Colbert, Judy Gold, etc, and would actually have an open discussion that wasn't a liberal circle jerk.
he was never conservative, but he was definitely less opposed to invading Afghanistan (and maybe Iraq?) very early on. he took a more critical view on the Iraq War pretty early though.

Jim Norton had some funny material at times, but his desperate need for approval and how terrible he was at hiding it made him extremely unfunny. After every punch line he creepily scanned the faces of fellow comics in his vicinity for any reaction. If he got a huge laugh, he couldn’t contain his extreme over the top showing of self satisfaction. His face would light up with arrogance and he looked as if he was shaking from a tail wagging so hard under his seat. If he bombed he looked as though suicide was not too far in the future. It’s hard to respect such a total beta tryhard such as Norton. What a total tool that guy is. He’s the embodiment of cringe.
