Hey MD, im south indian and last year i went to collect plants from my local waterways. From there i found: Limnophilia sessiloflora, a type of blyxa that i couldnt identify really, theres a lot of crypts here and Pogostemon octopus is used in local medicine as a herb. Theres a lot more depending on the area of india but these are the ones i found. Hope it helps :)
Some more aquatic plants found in India : 1. Hygrophila pinnatifida (normal and UK species. UK is uttarakannada, not united kingdom) 2. Lagenandra meeboldi green/red 3. Lagenandra tenkasii 4. Lagenandra toxicaria etc 5. Rotala wayanad (wayanad is a district in kerala, south of india) 6. Rotala malamnpuzhensis (district in kerala) 7. Limnophila aromatica 8. A bunch of eriocaulon species. List is open for filling in, fellow enthusiasts.....
You put this on as my lunch break was ending, but I watched anyway 🤫 enjoyed the Indian music which accompanied this, great scape and lovely fish as always. Definitely gonna come to your Maidenhead shop, far better and bigger than mine !
I bought a bunch of those plastic bags, they are great not only for aquasoil but also for biomedia! In bucketfilters it is usually contained in trays wich makes maintenance easy. But most of my other filters are modified HOBs with only biomedia inside and then a sponge on the intake. Using those bags makes maintenance SO much easier and everything stays nicely in place 😍
U can look into western ghats of India. It's one of the most prominent biodiversity hotspots of the world and is a home to several fish species, so ull find great additions for ur tank :). Also if you want to make it a full barb tank then consider adding rosy barbs, Odessa barbs and also filament barbs (one of the fanciest barbs) they all have Indian origins
I would love to see some Zebra loaches or Rainbow loaches (or both!) in there, as they would liven up the bottom and enjoy the fast flow. Some Leopard danios would work well too🐟.
From all the research I did the torpedos / Denison love a strong water flow so I added a wave maker when I upgraded to a 5ft and they seem a lot more happy.. I just need to finish a bit with the scape but wanted to let the tank settle a bit first.. I love how yours looks mate
Denison barbs are some of my favourite fish! They look amazing when they get bigger. They also go great with rainbows too if you ever want to put them together.
I love how you really changed up the style of plants to suit the Indian style. Love it! Keep making different tanks with different styles of plants! UK is lucky with the amount of options
I know you and Matt always say it’s rocks, wood, water, fish but it’s amazing to me how many different looks you achieve. This one turned out great! I like how the music matches the tank, nice touch!
Me personally I found using the bags means I can’t plunge my stem plants or my root tabs as deep as I’d like.. the bags stop you. I like how the bags keep everything separate but not that I can’t plunge new stems or root tabs as deep as I’d like later down the road as the tank ages and needs replacement items here and there.. I’m into nano tanks so making the substrate even deeper isn’t an option as I loose swim room.. Excellent video ❤ I’ve learned so much watching you and a few others across the pond thank you for the time you invest
I just want to say how much I love your Chanel. When I first started this hobby I had a small tank 38L , but it never went well and I had a lot fish loss plants melting etc and I was about to give up on the whole thing. Then I found your channel and since watching all your videos I now have a 125L tank and basically copied everything that you do except the fish in cycle as I didn’t feel comfortable with that or experienced enough to pull that off so I cycled no fish. But I have to tell you my tank looks amazing compared to before and I have lost no fish and plants look awesome. So I just wanted to thank you for your amazing videos because I have learnt so much and I’m so glad I found your channel and did not give up. THANK YOU. Regards Andie
Really like the build, also nice touch by playing the Indian type music 👍 as always, entertaining, fun and educational. Always look forward to your videos and thankyou for once again another great episode of creative nature.😁
It is always such a pleasure watching your videos, and I have learned a lot from them as well! I was a big fish enthusiast in my teen years, and now that I finally got the opportunity again after a decade and a half, I got myself a new tank and set it up the way I learned from you, with the mesh bags filled with Fluval and everything. Plants are doing pretty darn well, had to do some clipping a couple times already, and the few fish I have are doing well too; as I have to move before the end of the year, I only have a cleanup crew in my tank so far consisting of 5 panda corys, two siamese algae eaters, a saigon algae eater and a redtail shark, plus 10 shrimp (a mix of cherry, rili and crystal) and those have bred at least twice already since I see lots of different sized babies! Thank you for the inspiration and all the time you take to bring us these wonderful and educational videos! 😊Cheers from the Netherlands!
Ever thought about challenging yourself with creating a Marine Tank? I think it would be awesome to watch you aquascape one and choose what marine animals to live in it!
Love this tank! I've been trying to plan something similar and had no idea a book of ornamental Indian fish existed. I'm scouring Amazon now for supplies!
I was buzzing when there was a Maidenhead aquatics in gosforth, I just moved out and wanted to make a tank, got some neon tetras been running about a week and all good. The staff were great and these vids helped me a lot
Great to see the Indian theme and Denisons as focal ones. They are treat to see while shoaling. Would advise to have lid on the tanks since they are heavy jumpers. You must have it spare from the Discuss tank. 😊
You should do a series where you and Matt set up different sizes of tanks with a time limit sometimes 5 gal sometimes 10 black water scapes 29 gal think it would be really good video idea
Following you for about a year like your tanks and videos,,, BTY I'm from India,,, I'm so happy you setup a Indian tank,,,I also setup a tank 3 months ago with the help of your video, And it's doing awesome ❤ love from India ❤❤
MD - if your looking for red plants from India, try Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red' - I have them in my tank. You can get them from Tropica, they grow very similar to crypts and like low-light conditions with partial shade. 👍
Your right MD, I use local ferns in my snakehead tanks, they look almost identical to java ferns. Nice collection of fish, I think you'll love the mascara barbs (dawkinsia assimilis)
MD I am addicted to your channel. I am going to do a small scape 60cm 28x28 for the coffee table in my lounge. Loving the Indian theme as I live in Thailand maybe a thai theme soon would be great. Great job 10/10
An absolutely beautiful start! Looking forward to see what's next. I'm just starting with planted tanks and am learning loads from your channel. Thanks for keeping it real and the hobby accessable.
Hygrophilla Pinnatifida is also a native Indian plant. Also you should check sucatio and balitora, they are like the Indian otocinlus mostly found in bramhapurta river
This is great, I am from India and have been following your channel for a long time now. I was really hoping to see Pinnatifida UK in the video. It colors up in good lighting and grows bushier with regular trims. For algae eating fishes you can try Sucatio or Balitora.
I'd love to see filament barbs (Dawkinsia filamentosa) alongside the denison barbs and drape fin barbs! I've been wanting to see a large build with these fish, and this would be such an awesome tank to do it in. See if Matt can also get you the albino denison barbs because they are yellow with red stripes! Hillstream loaches would also look great on those flat rocks, and they're native to India. Also, if you want a moss-type plant, there are like 90 different Fissidens species in India.
Omg omg omg broooooooooo So so so beautiful awesome really really love it. Lots of love From India 🇮🇳❤️ Thankyou so much for made this beautiful tank. So so beautiful baground indian music. Love this video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey Md The Asian Stone Mini Catfish (Hara jerdoni), also known as the Moth Catfish or Anchor Catfish, is a miniature species native to slow-moving streams in India and Bangladesh.
Duel Island scapes have become my favourite composition now. Nice fish choice, be interesting to see what Matt sources for you for the next batch. Maybe some smaller crypts in the foreground.
Love this MD. I copied you with substrate plants are doing really well but I put to much soil in bags and didn't cap it thick enough so it can be hard re planting as I hit the bag. Won't make that mistake again. You are a inspiration ✨️
I don't really use a lot of water to be honest. Just to fill the tank up and then a few water changes in the first few weeks. Then after that, the tanks look after themselves and I just top the water up a little each month from evaporation.
i have a ludwigia repens in a 10 gallon, just covering the whole surface. i thought it would just grow up and out but it decided to grow across and branch out with tons of tiny offshoots
Love the double island look with rhino stones.. beautiful... I always thought that majic bulbs apontogeton, rotala indica, macrandra, etc. Many world wide plants are generally; hornwort Val's, and anachris, and najas I do believe. Lucky you get to use polysperma, it is not allowed in the U.S. Matt is a great refrerance for fish resource for you. Thanks MD
Just to update your list of Indian plants , you can consider the following commercially available species Blyxa aubertii Blyxa japonica Pogostemon erectus Bolbitis heteroclita Cryptocoryne retrospiralis Cryptocoryne spiralis Cyperus Helferi Hygrophila difformis Hygrophila pinnatifida Lagenandra nairii Lagenandra ovata Myriophyllum tuberculatum Rotala macandra Rotala rotundifolia Rotala wallichi Happy Scaping ! Great to see an Indian Themed Aquascape from your channel 🔥💯🎉
Cryptocoryne flamingo originates from Sri Lanka, India and Bhutan. Starts off green but under higher lighting turns a pinky red colour! Might be worth giving that a try
Quite enjoyed this video. Might I suggest adding Etroplus maculatus (Orange Chromide). This is a small Indian Cichlid, which would fit well in your tank, and work with the fish already there.
Interesting concept build. I would never thought to get all life forms( plants/fish) from same country of origin. I tend to put fish together that would never see each other in the wild.
Regular viewer from Las Vegas, NV here. Sad that I had to give up the hobby after 50 years but the interest never really dies. Inspired build, as always. Wondering if one of the badis species would work as a bottom dweller although may be too small and slow with the swift swimmers you have already. Just a thought. Looking forward to the grow out of everything.
Nice choice with the Barbs, they look amazing! I've been wanting to keep them for a while now but unfortunately don't have the space for a tank of that size.
Love seeing new builds from you MD What a blessing to get a voucher, and having great support from your local Fish Shop too You’ve come so far keep going my friend Sending support from Australia 🐠🇦🇺❤️
Lovely build yet again MD. I’d love to see you more frequently utilise various leaves and alder cones etc to compliment builds like this and create that intriguing natural environment for both the fish, us and yourself as the primary audience. Personally i can really appreciate the effort that goes into a biotope, whether subtle or in its purist form, so this content is very entertaining, keep it up 👍🏼

Following you for about a year like your tanks and videos,,, BTY I'm from India,,, I'm so happy you setup a Indian tank,,,I also setup a tank 3 months ago with the help of your video, And it's doing awesome ❤ love from India ❤❤
Your video coincides with India's Independence Day
AMAZING VIDEO, give me so much inspiration for my own tank!
Nice gesture the gift , great video love them all . what a lovely bond with the shop . all good stuff
MD - if your looking for red plants from India, try Lagenandra meeboldii 'Red' - I have them in my tank. You can get them from Tropica, they grow very similar to crypts and like low-light conditions with partial shade. 👍
Excellent Indian river music!
Such a nice open spaced tank
Excited for the future of this set up.
Your right MD, I use local ferns in my snakehead tanks, they look almost identical to java ferns. Nice collection of fish, I think you'll love the mascara barbs (dawkinsia assimilis)
Lot of left hand action in this one. Great vid as usual!
MD I am addicted to your channel. I am going to do a small scape 60cm 28x28 for the coffee table in my lounge. Loving the Indian theme as I live in Thailand maybe a thai theme soon would be great. Great job 10/10
Indian Musical Instruments playing in the background.. 🔥🔥
I really enjoyed that too. It is my second favorite thing about dining in Indian Restaurants, after the incredibly delicious food!
I'm so glad to see you get Roseline sharks. I'd like to see you set up an African dwarf frog tank or get another axolotl
MD is the Bob Ross of Aquascaping
Indian Glass fish are quite fun!
I really like all you do, but natural style aquariums are my personal favourite! Great stuff! Thank you for sharing with us! 😊
And we have yet another stunning set up. Thanks MD🇿🇦
Thank You MD for finally making the Indian style tank.. Huge Love and Respect from 🇮🇳🙏
Woohoo!! Can’t wait to watch. Torpedo barbs are one of my most favorites!!!
This is great, I am from India and have been following your channel for a long time now. I was really hoping to see Pinnatifida UK in the video. It colors up in good lighting and grows bushier with regular trims. For algae eating fishes you can try Sucatio or Balitora.
Very cool idea for a new tank! And great result as always :)
Absolutely incredible another stunning build video as always 👍
I'd love to see filament barbs (Dawkinsia filamentosa) alongside the denison barbs and drape fin barbs! I've been wanting to see a large build with these fish, and this would be such an awesome tank to do it in. See if Matt can also get you the albino denison barbs because they are yellow with red stripes! Hillstream loaches would also look great on those flat rocks, and they're native to India.
Also, if you want a moss-type plant, there are like 90 different Fissidens species in India.
Great tank love the fish selection MD and a little bit less planting really showcases the fish 10/10 nice job!
One of the best set-ups and commentary I've watched! thank you, I learned a lot. goodwill from Canada🐟🐳🌲
Another month another top build!! Can't wait for the next scape in the shop!!
Omg omg omg broooooooooo
So so so beautiful awesome really really love it.
Lots of love From India 🇮🇳❤️
Thankyou so much for made this beautiful tank.
So so beautiful baground indian music. Love this video ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Your videos make me wish my tank was up and running. Great job!
Love you from India sir... ❤️🇮🇳❤️
Being proud to be Indian.. Thanks buddy ❤
Lots of power to you from India - Bangalore
Hey Md The Asian Stone Mini Catfish (Hara jerdoni), also known as the Moth Catfish or Anchor Catfish, is a miniature species native to slow-moving streams in India and Bangladesh.
you should put badis badis , killifish and peacock eel !
I'm from India and happy to see Indian theme aquarium 😍
U should get some Narayana barbs. They school well ✊
Having so many Aquariums is the new luxury! I wonder how much water he needs in a month! And don't tell me England is not suffering from the drought.
I love Denison barbs but they are $50 each here in Australia, love them drape fins, never seen them before. Great work as usual.
Thanks MD

Blyxa japonica
Pogostemon erectus
Bolbitis heteroclita
Cryptocoryne retrospiralis
Cryptocoryne spiralis
Cyperus Helferi
Hygrophila difformis
Hygrophila pinnatifida
Lagenandra nairii
Lagenandra ovata
Myriophyllum tuberculatum
Rotala macandra
Rotala rotundifolia
Rotala wallichi
Happy Scaping ! Great to see an Indian Themed Aquascape from your channel 🔥💯🎉
Crickey!!! That's way more than I thought!!! Thanks
@@MDFishTanks You can refer Christel Kasselmann’s Book for Aquatic Plants for great info regarding aqua flora 😇
Yes!! Thanks for this list! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Luv 💞 frm Indian sir........ really big fan of ur aquascaping skills...
Nice choice with the Barbs, they look amazing! I've been wanting to keep them for a while now but unfortunately don't have the space for a tank of that size.
Love it! Thank you for the step by step! Been loving all your river setups ❤️
Love both those fish!
Love seeing new builds from you MD
What a blessing to get a voucher, and having great support from your local Fish Shop too
You’ve come so far keep going my friend
Sending support from Australia 🐠🇦🇺❤️
Love all your tanks! You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you
Lovely build yet again MD.
