I loved Charlotte"s music and her spirit from the first time I saw her at Hotel Cafe- a lot of great souls played that joint around that time, but Charlotte Martin was the most soulful and gave her heart out- then was so gracious to her fans. Maybe I had an unknown crush on her, but how could you not. She will always be my first love of independent music.
Love this song! I've purchased everything Charlotte has available and love it all, but this has quickly become one of my favorites. Gorgeous song, can't wait for the new album!
I really love this version of this track. The album version was good too, but it just wasn't the same after I'd heard this one. The polish and glam stuff actually diminishes the raw power she has with just piano/vox. I like some of her fuller arrangements too, but there are just certrain tracks of hers that I think work best in this kind of minimalist context.. :D The "Elderly Woman [...]" cover from Reproductions is a good example of that.
