Thank you so much for mentioning that lightning trigger. I'm totally blind, so I wouldn't have known what it was unless someone mentioned it, and you did! And yes, I'm typing this and hearing everything I type and can read the comments using screen-reading software that speaks it all to me. II love severe thunderstorms, especially the ones with lots of positive lightning strikes and CGs. When it's recorded in binaural or true stereo, that's what I love! Keep up the great work.
Everything on this video is beautiful. The comment, the sunset, the cloads and the lightning. And sometimes i saw the lightning from the thunderstorm on the left side too. Only missing deep dark booming thunder but it's nbeautiful too watch this.
I live in the high desert where we get a lot isolated thunderstorms like this where you can get a nice clear view of the updraft, but I can count on one hand the number I have seen that are in the same league as this one. This storm is spectacular in the true sense of the word.
Great storm. I once got caught up in a thundersnow storm here in UK about ten years ago. It approached as a long wall of very tall pink and white cumulonimbus. Started as heavy rain, temp 7 degrees Celsius. Within a few minutes, temperature had plunged, rain turned to sleet then snow. Bright blue lightning similar to power cable flashes, but very little thunder and it was oddly muted too. The snow storm became very heavy with whiteout conditions after about 30 minutes. The storm lasted about an hour by which time the temp had fallen to minus 3 Celsius. The thundersnow storm was one of many reported that day along a very active cold front which had polar air racing in behind it and was running into relatively mild air, hence the storms it created.
Look at that structure! Pure beauty as the mesocyclone has no precipitation at the base so you can see all its glory! I wouldnt be surprised if there was a tornado forming at the bottom.
Awesome footage bro !! Just amazing. Reminds me of Close Encounters Movie when at the end the UFO's were all coming at once. Too cool !! Thank you for posting
NASA has even come here a few years back to study our lightning. Apparently our lightning has the highest voltage of *any* lightning in the world, even more than tornado lightning, and it is the only lightning that can be seen with the naked eye from outer space. We also hold the record for the most lightning strikes within an hour apparently. I think it was 90 something thousand strikes within an hour or something like that. I remember the local news station talking about it the next day after that particular severe storm. Back in the 90s that was. I still remember all the lightning that night. Multiple strikes at a time. The sky was *constantly* lit up that night. The amount of energy that that storm had was amazing.
Praise YAH for his glorious wonder's. Thank you and praise YAH for you sharing this diamond (jewel) of a video showing the wonder's of our world. Thank you very much. I AM a servant of YAH,Glory,LOVE,Peace,Joy,Blessing's and Thanks-giving to one name, one will for one Kingdom for ALL, YAH. Amen Amen Amen.
I wonder .. how often does this occure in the Summer ? Everyday ? And .. I know in Texas and Florida USA , its a normal thing almost everyday .. Whats the difference in Character in Darwin Australia and the States ? Would be very interesting to know ..
Your storms and climate are very similar to ours. Our season runs from around mid October to April - which includes two or three monsoon bursts from December to April. We have around 90 thunderstorm days per year, but quite a lot more given the distance the Top End encompasses. From the end of April to September it is our 'dry season' - so no rain or storms.
Yes .. its due to the different Time Zone .. When its Summer here , you have Winter and the other way around . Though the Winters here in the Southern States are no real Winters .. Thanks !
Nice how you have the wires in there Mikey, wouldnt be a Oneil shot without some wires!! I was near channel island on the other side of this storm, I can find my shots of it! Mind you it was quite a while a go.
Love this commentary of how you're describing this storm and everything that is unfolding inside of it!
Bit amateurish I'm sorry! But was a bit of a surprise. Sorry about the camera clicking away.

Hello from the UK. This video is amazing, thank you for sharing and I love your commentary too :)
What a stunning storm. This sunset and the lightning. WOW. Darwin knows how to put on a good show.
No less than magic. Good to see that Stormscapes Darwin is still active. Cheers!
I'm scared of thunderstorms, but this video is so wonderful!
The glow from the sunset on the right certainly added a lot of drama to this view, in the early part of the video.

No apologies for the camera clicking away...I had it inside the car and was not getting outside with the amount of lightning about.
thank you all.
What surprised me the most about this was the lack of thunder. It must have been further away than it looks.
Incredible! Thanks!
that is a MONSTER of a storm
IAmMyriad Here in Darwin the storm clouds go up *so* high. Right up into the sky. It's cool to stand on the back porch and see storms like this. 😎
