I have used MS Projects in the past and Agantty quite recently (it's not free anymore unfortunately), and while these had much more options than GanttProject. I think I have finally found a stable daily use tool that is quite easy to use and understand as well as essentially free (since I am a freelancer, this matters a lot to me). Thank you for building such a useful tool.
Very clear and informative. Gave me a fast startup for this product. I agree with others who say you should do more videos, for example, an advanced or intermediate level video for the gantt project.
It is explained in the tutorial, scroll to 4:53. Project menu --> Properties... --> click Resource Roles in left tab, then you can create role. They will later be available when you add new resources. Using GanttProject 2.6 Brno RC III (build 1440)

If you can see the name of the Task on the Gantt Chart or change where it appears, go to Edit > Settings > Gantt Chart at the bottom on Task Details you can select where you want to see the task name or if you want to see the task id among other options.

I guess downloads for version 2.5 (382 so far) are low because of a low visibility, but once people start finding out, downloads will increase. I am a Java developer myself and am planning to take a year off within half a year to work on some ideas. I might then have some time free to help on your project if you like.

Why when indenting a task 6 under task 5, it is a task 5 adjusting duration for task 6? I want task 5 to last 6 days as a superordinated task while indented task 6 only 3 day. But no, once I indented and set task 6 to 3 days, the superordinated task 6 shrinks to 3 days and i cannot change that. Also the bar for superordinated task 6 starts looking like a bracket instead of a full bar. How can I change this? Or get a control over ranking?

I tend to do projects spanning a few years and would like to compress these years on a single page for reports and powerpoint slides. Is there a possible way to do this on your program? Great tool - but I can't figure out how to create a new project - it only allows uncategorized and "Software Development" - I have tried everything I can possibly find and click on but get no options to be able to do it - at approx 3.25-3.40 mins in your video you add a project and when you click next it is completely different to how the current version behaves.

При импорте файла *mpp в программу GanttProject у меня получается совершенно пустое левое табличное поле. Причем и задач и ресурсов. Уже пробовал и в xml импортировать/экспортировать .. не выходит каменный цветок. MSP-2007 был (вернее пока есть) В виртуалке не хочется сидеть с MSP. Можете подсказать есть ли решение? Версия GP - последняя вроде. 2.6.1 Brno ревизия 1499

Looks like it doesn't have the functionality to add holiday or level resources. Not much use a product then really - I'll stick with MS Project.
