The thing I like best about Procreate is that it just gets the hell out of my way. In most drawing programs, I feel like I’m fighting with the interface to get what I want. I’m sure most of it is familiarity and practice.

I was sooooo disappointed when I found I couldn’t get it today as I have been saving up for multiple months( since February ). I am so excited tho and it will definitely be worth the wait!
I'm mainly looking into CSP and Procreate once I get my iPad. A pity I'd need to use the subscription model with CSP, even though I already have a permanent one on my PC.
@@maymaecat5149 It's subscription based for the iPad but the desktop version is buy once you have it forever. I think the only way desktop makes you rebuy is if you lose the code/it's been a while since you've bought it?
That's the reason why I decided against CSD and went with Procreate. CSD offers little to nothing procreate doesn't, and procreate... Well it's a great program. Honestly, drawing feels so natural and fluid in it, I don't think I could go back to a different one. Even for 30$ or more it would still be great. But it's 10 bucks.
As an artist I can tell this app has much more natural and fluent brushes than anything in the Procreate. It really feels much more like a real media that digital textured brushes from Procreate which can hardly blend properly. Its much more streamlined too. So yeah, at least for me, feels much more like my moleskin than procreate.
I started off with Adobe Fresco first but then switched to Procreate in a month's time. The advantage of Adobe Fresco however is that you can still download and use the free version with limited but reasonably good brushes .
I have a 6th gen. iPad with Apple Pencil. 2020 I use Adobe Fresco. I used to use Adobe draw. But now I like Adobe Fresco better for more features and Fresco still has Vector tools. I have a paid edition of ProCreate but I never use it. I am a hobby artist. I like to trace real life photos and other people's art on my iPad for practice to be better at drawing from reference or imagination.
I have adobe Fresco on my windows computer and I love using Fresco, but the sad thing about it is that I can't use the watercolor brushes (Aka live brushes). I would like if Adobe fix this issue, so then other people who have windows computer can also use it.
I can use the watercolor live brushes but the moment I select the oil brushes it crashes. They don't seem to care to fix this, I've seen this problem in the forums since a long time.
I’ve started out drawing on the free version of fresco and then switched to procreate to avoid the yearly subscription but i just didn’t like it as much and went back and subscribed, fresco’s brushes feel right and behave naturally, so even with the interface being more complex i still think adobe wins here.
Nice video! I took notes while listening. Loved how you used a separate layer for the hair and another for the chair! Always wondered. I’ve been so used to multiple programs that I didn’t realize the layers were for fluid drawing. Also, seeing the brush capabilities with the pencil were excellent as well. I need to get one.
Fantastic intro man sub for life! Also thank you right now I got pro create adobe draw and fresco (vector) and I started with medibang they all have something I need is like a family 🤪
I've been using it for few days now in my notebook since it became available for windows, and I can use it with my walcom tab. It's a great app, and it's free even though you have to subscribe for premium access and til now i still feel content using the free version. It's a great app honestly
I think it’s only fair that you compare it to procreate so much. If they really want make a competitive product, they need do things just as well, or better than Procreate.
Honestly if the people would sell adobe the procreate app they would suddenly make it subscription only. That would be horrible but sounds like something adobe would do.
Josh, another great video on Fresco. I use it quite a bit as a sketchbook like option where I want to draw something not work oriented or just to fool around with new ideas. Clip studio gives me all the professional finishes I’m looking for on paper all in one app. The upcoming features are what I am looking forward to, WHEN they are released will make this a real competition for home software. Glad you like it but see all your issues. Good video
They added the brush stamp preview lol. If nothing else, they’re listening, and for customer support that good I’m starting to think the subscription isn’t terribly unrealistic
Hey Josh! I recently started using AF and love it. Unfortunately I'm having an issue with Vector Trimming. For some reason, the previous vector paths that I've made are no longer trim-able. Now when I try to trim it, it removed all the paths that are touching each other (95% of my artwork). What really trumps me is that vector trimming works just as its supposed to with new paths that I lay down. This issue has really interrupted the workflow I was enjoying with Fresco. Would you happen to know anything that I'm experiencing? Theres nothing I can find searching online.
i honestly cant wait to switch from photoshop to procreate, it seems better in every aspect. it's a wholeeee lot cheaper and does the same things (i'd say even better).
I do not know if it will be your case but I had that problem of brushes with lag, it turns out that some brushes appear in Fresco with the softness at 100 and you have to lower it and remove what seems to be lag, I can tell you because I Use brushes over 500px and works fast.
I'm using fresco now with the apple pencil gen 1 and it has the pen icon while drawing! I'm just trying to figure out how to change the line art colors >.
Haven't anyone noticed weird pressure sensitivity with some brushes in fresco like it registers different pressure levels even though I am applying same pressure
Brush dab outline … won’t that be harder to do with the live brushes? On the palm reject I agree and you SHOULD compare to Procreate because Procreate is nearly flawless .. and all they did was let you turn on/off palm for drawing and only use pencil.
I just use adobe apps because I already pay for a photoshop subscription because I do photo editing and composite for work. So I’m just like, if I have to pay for this anyway I might as well use all the stuff they’re making available to me. But sometimes fresco won’t open because supposedly I don’t have enough space, and that’s my biggest problem with it.
I have a Wacom Intuos (2018) and a good computer and recently got access to an iPad and Procreate with the apple pencil.
