Completing the outer boxes and then feeding information into box 5 through the 17-cage was the intent, which made it a bit of a two-stage puzzle: around the gri we go with thermo-cage interactions to effectively place a lot of digits, then primarily sudoku with a lot of givens to resolve the inner portion of the puzzle through pointing pairs and naked/hidden singles. 17:52 #931 There was definitely a spot where it was just box 5-ish remaining where everything slowed down. Then I made one connection and the rest of the puzzle broke out neatly.
Good solve Sleuth! I don’t think the puzzle got harder rather than the sudoku kicked in and like the rest of us mere mortals, it can slow up spotting the right combos sometimes. 😊
