SPOILER: Anna took the risk going knight C8 instead of the draw through reputation with 1min on the clock vs nemo having 55 minutes, Pia seemed on the verge of a heart attack for almost the entire game alongside chat but made her so proud seeing Anna playing out the end game then coming through with the win! Great game by both. Win or lose is still lessons and skills learnt.
1050 rated player here. This was the first long chess game I've watched. Dude. I don't know if it gets any better for my money than this. The Grand Master mother doing commentary. The early time disadvantage. That crazy drama right at the end, and seeing how much they both care and how brilliant they both are? I don't know if it gets any better for my money.
WOW what a game!! The fact that you came back from so much time down was crazzzyyyy. You played an incredible end game with all the best moves with 1 minute on the clock. Well done Anna!
Great game Anna I was chewing my nails off . Time management was a stressor for your Mom but Pia did a great commentary and was worried but then became so excited for you. Pia missed the illegal move and the clock fall and was very concerned with the clock showing you had lost time. Yet when they reset the clock and you made the first move after the restart she was so very proud and happy for you. Go rest and then study up for tomorrow. Get good sleep and come tomorrow clam, alert and on your game you can do this. We believe in you.✌💖🕯
Hi Anna! This match was really epic! Your precision and your cold blood when you had a huge time disadvantage (with such a strong opponent!) were incredibly immeasurable! I am only an amateur player but it was impossible not to see the match until the end (late night for me 😄). Well done 🤟!
Not sure if you watched the rest but she was shaking the entire game. There was a bit towards the end where Anna started shaking real bad too. I thought I was going to have a heart attack just watching it.
@@justbrowsing5279 oh i wasn't watching the whole thing i was just checking in and out of the stream and listening to pia's commentary to hear what is going on
You were SPECTACULAR at the end game! I'm so glad to be wrong as I was panicking saying "Go for draw!" but you maintained your cool for the win! CONGRATS! I think that the Nemo adopting you thing now is officially voided 😃.
I had to leave towards the end. Left apparently just before the excitement, lol. I was thinking Anna was going to draw when I left, so she surprised me when she won. Then there was that timeclock drop that I wasn't expecting.
It was clearly unintentional. People on the live chat need to take the fanboy down a notch. Not sure how she ended up with a minute but she clearly wasn't cheating. Fantastic game.
At around 5:28:40 you can see quite clearly that she tried to play f5, before unintentionally moving the bishop to g5. I'm just wondering why they continued with g4. But it didn't matter in the end.
@@justbrowsing5279 It's not a fanboy thing, she did a illegal move and it's normally a lose direct. Anna probably agree to continue, knowing she was winning anyway.
I think the illegal move resulted in Anna getting an add’l 30 secs, Zhou hit the timer within the limit, play proceeded after VAR and arbiter. Seeing humor in a situation requires neither fans nor intent. Laugh a little, it helps with perspective.
Deeply felt congratulations @Anna! You gained a superior position and you securely converted it in a technically demanding endgame, although you were down on time. I'm so glad you won again after two losses in a row against strong opponents.
Anna - If there is a Botez Camp next year, may I suggest bringing in a couple ping pong tables and have a tourney on off day. I really want to see who has some athletic skills. I have a feeling it’s going to be one of the funniest streams.
I had to go to sleep half way through the game and couldn't watch further. So I asked chat who is like to win the game and they said Nemo is likely going to win. Came back in the morning and Anna won!
Yeah, I had to leave, too, and thought it would end in a draw. I was surprised to see Anna won the game, and I was surprised there was a timeclock drop issue, too, lol. I left when all the excitement was about to start.
That was really thrilling, the endgame was fantastic. Annas mother saw it before that the black king should go to the center, when Anna moved it to c5 first. Nemo also played too fast and overconfident for most of the game.
We Swedes are private. My mom is from Mamma Cramling's neck of the woods and age. I am also born in the Woods, but i touch older than you, Anna. Visste nothing about chess before I stumbled upon a short of you one sleepless night. I would so LOVE to see a post game first talk with Mamma. I think the world would too. You are sick commentators to each other. Även utan konskaper, dramat håller mig kvar att kolla. You are truly awesome! Södra Stockholm Utd!
Sicilian Four Knights Variation with Be2 is always very strong for white. Get the bishop out safely and castle quickly can get you pretty far in a 1500 game, that's for sure.
Nemo did an illegal move so after the arbitration she had to make a legal move. A chillaxed Dina took time from her game to help out with the clock LOL
This early in the game, (min 56:21), I have no problem sacrificing a bishop to move a pawn from in front of their king. It opens up opportunities that you normally don't have IMO, and concentrates the power on their king from that point on.
The next time you develop a new opening, (or tactic. But I hope with a better name than "The Cow opening". I like "The Cramling Crunch" better, for example, because your name is in it.),---------------don't publicize it. Use it in an important game. They will not know what to do. :) It is fine to then dedicate it to Bobby Fischer, for thinking outside of the box (proven by you), to victory. :)
They did, they gave Anna a little extra time and Nemo got an official warning, You can make 1 illegal move but if a second is played only then you're DQ. They reviewed the video apparently and freeze framed it and seen. Was discussed and given notice by the mod's in the official botez stream. Same rules as all official international classical games.
@@HapppyLittleAccidents You're correct, and it's bizarre. The rule is that in classical time controls an illegal move requires a penalty of two minutes added to the opponent's clock, so I assumed it was applied. It seems Anna was given 32 seconds, added to her 28 remaining seconds. This makes no sense. Even in rapid time controls, the penalty is 1 minute for the first illegal move, and in blitz it's a forfeit. These rules do not have exceptions, and there are limits to the discretion arbiters have. It's mystifying. As for Nemo's clock, the time control has a 30 second increment for each move.
Anna played one game here. Her Mother? Over 600. No wonder why the game is so confusing. Overload of possibilities does not teach me how one person won one game. I find it 100% distracting to my learning process, to be distracted 600 times. As Teddy Roosevelt once said, "It is the man in the ring that counts." Sorry. No offense to nice people. But it does not work for me.

Posted a pic on X, she got to the clock on time, but the bishop was left on an illegal square. The clock smash was so unintentional, and funny.

What's up? She could put Her Bishop on any white square to her left side , so how is Her Bishop put on or is on an illegal square? Freeman.
These games are cool to follow. Almost 6 hours of free chess lessons in lots of positions from a GM.

Well played by Anna. White's 51. a6 was a blunder, facilitating black's win.
Great game from 2 exceptional young women

I do not think RUclips allows external links in comments so I suggest googling "botez chess camp" and pull up the result on the chess site

You go ahead and think 3 or 4 moves ahead of the game. I can make one wrong move,--and mess it all up. :)

and (makes it easier to), concentrate the power on their king from that point on.
2 knights can get into the King attack from there, the queen, the black bishop, and maybe even a rook? That King is toast.

What a crazy ending! What would have happened if the players or arbiter had noticed that Nemo's original rushed move was (inadvertently) illegal?
Define.

Anna got the standard two minutes added to her clock for Nemo's illegal move.

Do any yall think Nemo purposely dropped the clock just to try to get out of the game somehow. She seemed desperate for anything.
No it was a very rapid desperate punch at the clock with less than a second left. Careless, but an accident.
Amazing game, I was glued to my phone. I’m glad you picked up on that whole cheating thing going on. Nemo the cheato got to be punished
Tons of ethical players who follow the rules have acted in a panic like she did and done the same thing. It's hard to call that cheating.
