Foreign people like the idea and the culture of Mexico, because they appreciate this type of living, where people or objects are not discarded.

I one thing I miss is Thrift Stores. We have toyed with the idea of opening a store here but are still trying to figure out the logistics of sourcing in the US and reselling here. My favorite item in your video was the vintage typewriter in your airbnb. I have that exact typewriter that my Mom gave me as a birthday gift years ago. Yes to the door dining table - I live in Spain and I used to teach kids in very posh homes, and in one of the homes they had a table made of 200 yo convent door. It looked really sophisticated. Thank you for sharing your trip today! On my travels to Mexico I too have had a very hard time finding second hand stores though the bazar/tianguis usually will have stuff, but rarely great items. I have found antique stores but yes, they were ridiculously expensive. Mexico city has a good antique market on Sundays, but otherwise Ive given up on thrift shopping on my travels in Mexico. San Miguel de Allende does have a good salvage scene. And just about every colonial city has so many amazing antique pieces in their architecture like doors, lighting, etc. I definitely prefer shopping for items made by Mexican artisans, making beautiful items like the ones you showed. That vintage store you visited was amazing though!

Fun video. I am Swedish and I live in Bisbee Arizona. I go a dentist in Naco Mexico the border is right there. but i was disappointed that there where hardly anything there. And the prices in the few little grocery stores where very high. Turns out that they buy stuff from Walmart and the dollar stores in the U.s and then sell that for double the price in Mexico. don't understand who can afford it over there. I sure can't.
Yes, I don’t understand either. And I know a lot of people that travel from México to the US to buy cheaper things. All I can say is that things that are expensive in México are cheaper in the US, like clothing and package food. And viceversa, fresh vegetables and quality food is much cheaper in Mexico than here, maybe that has something to do with it.

Looks like it was an amazing trip. I have only been to Mexico one time and that was this past May while on a Disney cruise. We stopped in Cozumel. Unfortunately we didn’t have long to tour very much while there. I’ll add these cities to my bucket list. Thank you for sharing.

There are 2 sewing machines on my fbmp right now excellent condition for $50 and $75 dollars. Those are gringo prices. They think Americans are running out of the US to Mexico, Canada and any other close country. So up go the prices. I looked up real estate in places on this video. The prices are crazy!!!

@@seashells5181 Most people in México won’t buy antiques with those prices. What’s happening is that a lot of people from the US are moving to certain regions which is driving prices up. The locals are not very excited about it.
@seashells5181 You might be surprised by the amount of wealth “The Mexican” has, that has nothing to do with money generated in the US. It’s a big country full of professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, etc. And unfortunately, yes, there is a huge disparity between those that have and those that don’t. It’s only natural to want more for your family. It might also surprise you to know that most Mexicans have no desire to “creep across the border” because they lead a fulfilling life in their own country. However you will never hear that from a politician or the mainstream media on the US side. All it takes is one trip there, actually meeting Mexicans, to learn that they welcome you, but they don’t envy you.
I agree. Locals are likely not the target market for antiques. Tourism can bring money to a country but there are a lot more negative affects unfortunately.
Thank you for sharing your Mexico trip with us! It brought back memories from 40 years ago when I was able to travel. It would be impossible to pick a favorite of all of the gorgeous pieces! But one thing I really miss is the food; it’s so delicious. I would like to make one more visit before I leave this life but, alas, it’s not to be. 🥲
