Steve Hackett - Los Endos (Live at The Royal Albert Hall)

- At the end of Los Endos, there are two lines sung that are mixed into the background and difficult to hear. They are the final words in Supper's Ready.
"There's an angel standing in the sun,
Free to get back home..."
These words were a farewell to Peter Gabriel. Compare the motif of getting home to the song Solsbury Hill, which was Peter Gabriel's song about leaving Genesis. Видеоклипы
If you aks ask me: Steve Hackett is responsible for the magic of Genesis of the early years. when he left, then they became a different group. not when Gabriel left as many say. wind and wuthering was the last magic album. with "and then there were three" it was gone. still a superb band, but a different one.
I totally agree with you although I do like And Then There Were Three. I think that was their last proper 'prog' album. After 78 it all became too commercial and too 'single- ised' for me. Hackett live is simply sublime!
I am with you I love Peter Gabriel to this day and his music. I believe both Steve and Peter left for the same reasons, commercialization! I believe both wanted to remain artists.
then there were what or Duke or wath , do you know Genesis ???
100% right IMO.its true
Spot on.
Steve Hackett's playing was, and always will be, as brilliant as the day he joined Genesis.
I think he has gotten better with age...
It's 2020! I never would have thought something from decades ago could get better. What a performance! Thank you Steve Hackett and fellow musicians.
This comes nowhere close to second e out . It's as if Steve doesn't even want to play . Daryl did a better version with Genesis
@@seanmalone4827 Steve was in fact on Seconds Out.
You might want to do some research chief.
@@seanmalone4827 I saw this show at Dundee. You can bet most knew "Seconds out" back to front. Went down a storm. Ive booked my tickets for the foxtrot show later this year. Everyone's entitled to their opinion I suppose.
@@seanmalone4827 It's true that Steve doesn't play much at all on this last song. I noticed at Leicester in October 2022. Its just a fun encore, where the last bit of the middle jam reminds me like Hawkwind's Space Ritual. He's doing the Squonk chords at the end instead of soloing. Still it's his show. It was the only track where he didn't play a lot. Roger the keyboards guy does the electric 12 string part at 4:16. I noticed that Rob the sax player plays part of the last bit, the same as Daryl in 1978. Kind of ironic but these Steve / Daryl arguments are so tedious. Any Los Endos sounds good: the original or live 76, 77, 78, then 80, 81 or 87 maybe (but having no Mellotron after 78 crimps it) and even Phil's big band version was pretty badass.
70 dislikes?! Pack it in. Mr. Hackett is so underrated, it's ridiculous. Still touring. PLEASE, if he comes to your town, go see this man. His love and enthusiasm for what he does is richer than ever.
Saw him in Bochum Germany. Can say that was one of my greatest gigs in my live.. In the last 40 years I listen live to Dweezel Zappa (Keeps also his Daddys great music alive) Frank Zappa himself at Schuettdorf Open Air (Oh man Smoke Smoke) Pink Floyd, Prince (so so good) M.Jackson (great too) and so on.
But this nice guy called Steve H. bring me back to the early 80´s in my life. Can´t stop hearing this masterpiece of music. Thank you Steve and Band , Hope you come back to Germany next year.
Dude, I tried to catch him in Oakland, but only one show for the Bay area...you needed Bill Gates kind of $ to get near the place! And then came covid...he's probably writing an album about it right now😎
Meant to be seeing him in Edinburgh in November 2020 but will just have to wait until November 2021 now. Hope I live long enough lol
@@andicampbell8621 we'll make it, mate. Be careful, eh?😎
@@justjeph6927 We will indeed mate. Stay safe in these troubled times.
I'm almost 78, part of the Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino generation. I'm glad I lived long enough to see and hear this. It's as good as it gets. Better, in fact.
I am 65, and this music is eternal in it's nature, as it speaks to me in the same way as when I was 25. You're right, it's as good as it gets😏
This music never gets old (pun fully intended)
Last night at The Sage Gateshead (22nd Sept. 2022) I saw Steve Hackett and his band perform this as the Finale to a truly breathtaking concert which featured a number of Steve's early solo tracks in the first part of the concert, then the entirety of the Foxtrot album in the second half. I'm sure many would argue that Foxtrot was one of, if not The finest album release by 'the Real Genesis' in that it featured Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett before they eventually both parted from Genesis. Los Endos was a truly fitting end to one, certainly fantastic concert, as the video footage here certainly testifies to !!!
Los Endos is one of best ending songs for a concert. I am so glad Hackett has been touring featuring Genesis music. Tech has caught up to what Genesis music was intended to sound like in the early 70's.
Yep. No more more Mellotron problems or cheesy-sounding electronic piano these days.
It is! Love the fact that it is so flexible that it typically features motifs from songs played earlier in concert, so it serves as a kind of recap.
@@racookster I think Roger plays a Mellotron plug in and sounds like he uses an ARP Pro Soloist plugin in other songs, especially the Selling England stuff. The dude is an ultra competent keyboards player. Basically never a bum note.
Another incredible performance! So glad I'm discovering these now. I've been a Genesis fan for over 30 years, and love the years that Hackett was in the band. He was so underappreciated, so it's really awesome to see him getting the chance to take center stage these days with an incredible band behind him playing this fantastic music to adoring crowds. Some of these live performances are better than the original recordings!
Underrated to the ignorant masses, but I'm sure not to his peers!
These are some seriously good players without exception! There are some pieces of music that are greater then the individual parts. These compositions, in the right hands are timeless and just as good as the originals because of it. Brilliant!
What a phantastic performance! Steve Hackett keeping up the real Genesis-stuff. 👍❤🎯
My favorite period by Genesis is definitely the years with Hackett in the band. IMHO Hackett and Banks are much of the core of Genesis music during their best years.
Hackett is the only Genesis member that evolved and got much better through time, he is a at the top of his game being 67 years old and showing that music has no age or frontiers.
The tag next to your name says you posted this one day ago, on May 20th, 2020. If so, Steve is 70. He doesn't look it, but he is.
Why does everyone forget Anthony Phillips 😡 a different style of guitarist, but at least he doesn't sit on Genesis' rehashes.
@@harleyallman5508 Easy. Hackett isn't sitting on Genesis' rehashes. Simply performing the works he created within an incredible band. May as well give Macca sh*t for singing The Beatles' works.
.Peter Gabriel evolved a little bit after Genesis !
@@racookster Right, my bad.
Steve is still as good as 50 years ago ... My soul rejoices.
As good? No, he has matured, and better now
there should be a special hall of fame for Steve. these guys are TIGHT. Amazing work man. 🥰😘
Oh god, I've just realised I was at this bloody concert at RAH. Trust me, although the video is great, it can't do proper justice to how great the evening was. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.
The "feel" of a live concert can't be caught on video, no matter what the quality. I'm jealous that you were able to be there. I emailed Steve not so long ago and asked when they would be coming my way and he replied that he did want to play my native Texas, it just hadn't worked out so far, agents and promoters being who they are. I hope RAH will be a great memory for you for years to come!
Lucky man
Same here, from the Dundee show
When I was 13 years old, arround the 70's I could not afford to buy records, and all I had was two bad quality tapes recorded by friends: "A trick of the tie" and "Dark side of the moon" but only the A sides. I listened to them in a loop. At 16 I worked for the first time during my holidays and the first thing I did was buying "A trick of the tie" vinyl. The discovery of the B side, especialy Los Endos was a shock, a huge happiness. Today I still have the same pleasure when I listen to Steve Hackett.
I love how Ned wanders in toward the end to do his bit. Epic!!
Saw these guys last night in Portland OR, still smiling. Oh my god what a show!
With this world virus taking hold at least we still can relive the concerts here thank god
For me the same feeling 4 years ago in Gemany . Never forgett this in my life. Goosebums right now again
I agree with many others that Genesis retained its magic after Peter left, but when Steve left.... something changed. While I appreciate and enjoy the music of Genesis from the earliest days all the way through their last studio work, I think Genesis was at its best when Steve was still there.
Absolutely. One of the most unique guitarists ever. Incredible tone and genius composition. One of a kind.
I agree also, after Steve left it just wasn't the same anymore.Genesis was at it's BEST when Steve was there.
I find it funny that Genesis had the magic before Steve joined (Trespass), but Genesis lost it when he left. I guess Peter and or Steve mixed in the group made that magic.
SmokinLoon indeed. To all of us that has touched and instrument ; we must admit that this is the purpose of having guys joining a band. To play different instruments. Then to collaborate in a musical project. Therefore we can’t ask three guys to do what five guys were doing. I must say that even Anthony Phillips was irreplaceable, when he left , he took with him the touch of medieval kind of music. So, it’s not fair to highlight the ways of one guy in a band. Cause most of the time when this guy goes on his solo projects ; we end up disappointed. I’m 64 years old and a music lover since 10 years old. Hear and seen the best. With respect to all of you guys. So long.
Anthony Phillips (Ant) had the magic too, @@A_Saucerful_of_Secrets.
Guys i think you belive me. I was so happy to see him and his band 4 years ago live in Germany. For me a dream come true. Yes i love Gabriel and the old Genesis too. Hackett is so authentic in playing and on stage. Pure Gentleman. Hope i can see him again.
P.s at this moment I remember a party at home with my friends in the late seventies. This time i heart Genesis the first time. First love , never forgett. Great time
Gave me shivers, haven't heard Los Endos in years.
Sends shivers down the spine every time, fantastic
Hackett definitely has a sound all his own nobody sounds like him
What a hell of a rock guitarist. Thank God for Steve Hackett!
Thanks Gary O' Toole for your years with Steve and co. Great muscian.
Right, playing tunes live that often had 2 drummers...
This is heaven made music. Thanks Steve.
Talented, classy acting dude, respected and enjoyed by many ... for 50 freakin years.
Fantastic bass playing. What a band
He truly loves being and performing on stage for his fans.
1971 comes a journalist ask Tony Banks about Hackett , Banks said Hackett great Guitarist and HE COMPOSED !
Sent this to my son , saying this is video game music that video games would be made to 50 years later
Funny you say that - Koji Kondo, the composer behind the music of Mario and Legend of Zelda, took inspiration from 70s prog rock bands in his compositions.
Funnily enough, Zelda's Lullaby from The Legend of Zelda series is extremely similar to Hackett's "Hands of the Priestess"
man I have to say tour audio and video are top notch....GREAT JOB
merci steve grace a toi on continue a rever du grand genesis des années 70 ☮👍
👍🥲🙂🙃😉👋✌❣🇧🇪
Been seeing him live since the 70.s got better and better with age super guitar sound great playing the band are just great he.s got together always puts on a great show
Stellar! Really enjoy the vocal stylings of Nad Sylvan..Pete should be proud
Steve Hackett - what an innovator. Inventor, by all counts, of tapping/hammering; and, here, playing with the back of his forearm. Genius.
5:01.😂🤣😅👍
I think you can also see him doing this on the 1976 Genesis In Concert video last number. Not quite the same way but similar.
What it would have sounded like, if they would have let Steve play. He's doing quite well, thank you very much!😎
Fantastic music. I've listened to this great video clip countless times. Hope to see Steve Hackett live in concert again (and again!) 👍💜👍💜👍
Steve Hackett is amazing. I absolutely adore the Genesis Revisited thing, it is so great to still be able to go and hear this wonderful music interpreted live. Magical music.
Absolutely - that version of "Watcher" lays me out.
The music of my life.
Most beautiful. Thank you!
My man Lee Pomeroy on bass right there. amazing band behind an amazing man
GOOD MORNING,MY BROTHER STEEVE HACKETT.....THANK YOU.AM VERY HAPPY FOR YOUR MUSIC.
a unique emotion that I got to see and hear last year in Rome, thanks again Steve
Thanks master Steve Hackett !
I really love you Mr Hackett. I'll never forget when you sign my paper. You are the best
Dude is just so cool..and what a band! There was only one Genesis for me, when he was part of it.
STUNNING PERFORMANCE!!! GREATEST MASTER!!!!
Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad I finally got to see him in Québec city September 2019...he is an experience. I hope to see him again soon.
Holy crap this is unbelievable.
Amazing Show....I would loved to have been there.... esp with this group of musicians. They are my favorites of watching all the videos. So glad I found you. The audience is captured !..
From a long time Genesis Fan .....blown away .

Just beautiful
You know the audience there as a whole must have incredible artistic talents we cant imagine.
Wow, freakin' amazing....Thanks Steve!
As always ... OUTSTANDING!! 🎶
A rollercoaster
What a master musician and I cannot wait for the show coming up on Oct 29th in Nashville at the Ryman !!!!
Absolutely fantastic
What woundn't I give to be there at RAH enjoying this wonderful show! I am too far away to even have the chance to join this audience. Thanks YT exists and I can play an re play this videos. Thanks SH to keep the golden Genesis music alive. You have a wondeful band, exquisite musicians and a brilliant singer. Greetings from Argentina.
I saw them in NY 5 years ago and they rocked just as hard.
Steve Prog Genius Creator like his many Solos Albums Proove this Genius , Hackett History , merci Steve pour ton génie
Stellar performance! The horns are a nice touch, that Ricky bass rolling along, and Nad even got a vocal passage
Wonderful!
Une pure merveille!
Stunning isn’t it!..thanks so much for posting.
GREAT STEVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Le pouvoir expressif de l'architecture sonore rompt avec toute forme de transcription du réel pour s'attacher à l'expression d'un univers explosif. Les couleurs et le rythme de ces compositions sont un langage qui donne vie à l'exaltation!
Goosebumps all over!
y lo seinto -- I feel it.. love your music Sir Hackett, Lord of Music-
That's so great!
I want this as I die ….with a smile on my face. Thanks mr Hackett
Bloody brilliant.
Love his Fernandes guitars with the sustainer , he is the man, EVH claims to have invented tapping....Bollocks! This man was doing this when Eddy was potty training
Perfect Steve Hackett !!!
Holy cripes!! That was some guitar magic in the intro!!!!!!! .... okay, really through all of it. Wow!
Fanstastic !!!!
Incredible!
Pure class.
I have always considered this to be an extra 'bonus' classic era Genesis album, so in the style and spirit of Genesis was it.
Every time I hear the Chorus line, I have tu change my... OMG!
Steve Hackett est le Seul gardien de la flamme Genesis ! Ce repertoire est totalement magnifique, son apport et sa presence sont primordiaux entre 1971 et 1977 !....
I finally see ... Los Endos .. There's an angel standing in the sun; free to get back home. I'm not so sure about that, eh. 🎶🙏

Musicians at the top of their game !!
The sound sequence from 4:16 up to 4:50 is absolute madness. I can hear it in a row and it makes me crazy for more.
Jeez, What can i say but W O W, i always loved hacket from his solos on "Cinema show, i played it on a loop for weeks at a time, i learnt to 'air drum it, like a champion air guitarist, i became addicted, i stopped playing it, because i would then have to play it 5, 6, 7, times "instrumental", i always knew that he would be good live, & he did,nt disappoint, at the moment i am looking for him & his band doing "I know what i like" instrumental, because i just know that it will be amazing, could any Hacket fan coul,d point me in the right direction, Hackets "Los endos" is brilliant in its difference, but he still takes it far, before bringing it back, the single best instrumental, intensity, off the scale, brilliant, piece of music, the same as Genesis, but different, it hits all the marks, & Hacket is fantastic.
Love the vocals on this. Nad Sylvan does this song justice.
