I met Mark in Consimworld Expo 2015 and had the great pleasure of learning to play Churchill from him. I have a picture of me and Mark posing with (what was then) the only copy of Churchill available anywhere. Also, you may have mentioned that with a release date of 2019, it will coincide with the centennial of Versailles.
This is already on my preorder :D I love negotiating games. I've spent part of this summer working out ideas for a 2-4 player game on the Paris Peace Accords 1973. Starting in 1968, the four sides spent the first ten months debating the shape of the table.
One of the interesting points of our game was near the end when Mark and his French talked to me about our end game strategy to get Italy and Japan both to sign the treaty so that we could score points based on our chosen goals. This was a revelation to me that we needed to work together and changed the way that I played the last few rounds and in the end, both Mark's French and my USA scored the most. Great element of the game will be this negotiation element. You can't win it by just doing your goals.
I love Churchill but you are right it can be a long game, taking 5+ hours for a full 10 conference game. Versailles 1919 will play in about 2 1/2 hours for a full game, and probably quicker once you know the game. We played the game with 4 players right at 2 1/2 hours. Great game that I still can't stop thinking about.
This game is not part of the Great statesman series, although carries a lot of similar themes. Unsure about the "WIlson" title, if that was part of the amalgamation of Mark and Geoff's ideas

Nice guy, Mark Herman! Great spot!

That sounds very interesting and I would love to play it.
Looking forward to this one, getting 4 players may be a challenge though.
Good interview. This game looks cool.
The key criticism of 'Churchill' was that a 'full' game took too long to play. I am pleased to hear that this game moves along at a 'good clip'..
Jeffrey Miller having never played, start to finish, at most the game was 3 hours.

If only Archduke Ferdinand could have been brought back like Sir Gregor Clegane.
I think Herman's PtP CDGs are genius. I thought Churchill was a 5/10 though. Not a fan of COIN so won't comment on FitL.
Is this game still a part of the Great Statesmen series? Do we know why they stepped away from the original "Wilson" title?

Thanks.
sounds like Churchill.
Skidd Wister it's similar in the sense that there's a lot of tension and negotiation etc. But the gameplay is vastly different
Genius
