Subscribed! I really like your style of delivery! I have a grandmother from the US who had a scottish last name (McCord) but have found contradictory claims about the McCord Clan. On one source I found James Duncan Mackorda (1620-1689) born in Argyle and supposed to have died with two of his sons (he had five children apparently) at the battle of Killicrankie Pass. But in another source I found the origins of the surname are in Ayrshire Scotland but mostly Airgíalla in Ireland „McCord/MacCord comes from Old Gaelic name "Mac Cuarta" or sometimes "Mac Cuairt", translating as "the son of Cuairt", a byname meaning "visitor" or "journeymen" or "son of Achilles".“ So Irish? Scotish? I wouldn‘t know greetings from switzerland
Best video yet, Scotland is such a wonderful country, breath taking scenery , fascinating history, culture and people and of course you Bruce! Please make more of these videos. If I had a pot to piss in I would happily donate to your patrion page.

Congratulations sir you just got yourself a new subscriber from the land down under, Australia. I read a book all about cattle theft in the Scottish highlands, it was called the school of the moon if I remember correctly. It was a fascinating read about cattle theft as a rite of passage with it's own unwritten code.
The surname of Montrose, who I think was raised to the title of Duke by the time of his involvement with MacGregor was...Graham. Here in the United States I'm told Graham is not a Scottish name, so Montrose must have been an English nobleman. Also, in the film Montrose's factor was named Kilearn, but, I do believe his real surname was Graham. And in real life, the factor was released unharmed.

Can you send an email to requests@scotlandhistorytours.co.uk so that they’re all in the same place
This is my mother's clan and now I'm not far from the Trossachs I aim to get out walking here more often once some other commitments are sorted. Thank you for these excellent videos!
Brilliant
Thank you for the info! I just found out through doing genealogy work that Rob Roy is potentially my 8th Great Grandfather so it’s super cool to hear the stories!
I am from Clan MacLaren, Balquidder, Perthshire, live in Mississippi. Well done.
Been there done that but really enjoy your videos of places & stories I already know & have visited over my lifetime
But in another source I found the origins of the surname are in Ayrshire Scotland but mostly Airgíalla in Ireland „McCord/MacCord comes from Old Gaelic name "Mac Cuarta" or sometimes "Mac Cuairt", translating as "the son of Cuairt", a byname meaning "visitor" or "journeymen" or "son of Achilles".“
So Irish? Scotish? I wouldn‘t know
greetings from switzerland
Lovely Kirk! We visited this year and the waterfalls just behind. Amazing!
Rob Roy MacGregor, my Scottish hero :)
Ah ça va mon ami? Ça fait longtemps que nous avons parlé
@@ScotlandHistoryTours Saturday evening if you'll be available ?
Oui, ça sera bon
He is a very good teller of tales. I didn't know Scottish history. Looks like there is more to Scotland than just Sturgeon.
Best video yet, Scotland is such a wonderful country, breath taking scenery , fascinating history, culture and people and of course you Bruce! Please make more of these videos. If I had a pot to piss in I would happily donate to your patrion page.
Thanks Anthony
Thank you for sharing such interesting history. Please tell us about the lament.
and I still love your way of telling a good tale
I've just found your channel subscribed. I couldn't remember what your channel was called.
So I just look for the Rastafarian Scotsman. 😂🤗
My cousin is a Campbell, on the other side of her family. She’s got stories of current day mistrust between Campbells and Macgregors. It’s import to note we live in New Zealand and neither of us have ever been to Scotland!
Just discovered this dudes channel! Wow! Considering this is obviously cheaply made video with little spent on production costs his charisma comes through in abundance and these videos are brilliant. He'd be brilliant on the BBC or something similar doing history shows.
Thanks
Loved this. I like the story telling nature, not suggesting that it is false in anyway, that your videos are presented. As an Englishman, I wonder what heroes we have where their stories could be told in a similar way. Perhaps, England doesn't have heroes some might say! Mmm.😂👍😉
Thank you so much, as you see, I am a MacGregor, and Rob Roy,...very excited to see more, ... I grew up with a chanter, drum sticks and a sword,... Would love to talk someday... Well Done!.
Great job! I have suscribed! Greetings from Melrose, the Scottish Borders!
I'll be doon that way on Friday I hope
Yes, please DO make a video about Maccrimmon's Lament. I would love to know the story.
I would love a video about MacCrimmon's lament. Would also love a video about other laments and the significance of laments and farewells in Scottish culture and history. Or book recommendations.
Excellent story again. Thanks Bruce
Excellent keep them coming!
I’d like to know more about the lament you mentioned at the end. Definitely going to check out that book on Rob Roy. Thank you!
If enough folk want the story it'll be an excuse for a trip to Skye in the summer
Buy The Hunt for Rob Roy on Amazon here amzn.to/2LYXKL0
@@ScotlandHistoryTours Book it in! The MacCrimmon pipers of Skye were mentioned in a novel I read years ago, I'd love to hear their story! :)
Fantastic as always Bruce over 4000 folk getting a proper education finally
Wohoo!
They should make you 'Brand' Ambassador for Scotland mate! Never thought about before but after watching a few of your videos, I want to come visit tomorrow.
😂😂Start the campaign Dean
Another cracking tale Bruce. I think MacCrimmon would make another good video for you to cover.
Wohoo, another trip to Skye
Have the tune; but never connected it to its historical context until now...

Welcome aboard!
Just found this channel today, absolutely brilliant, looking forward to getting thru all the Scotland History Tours uploads
Welcome on board
I really enjoyed that my friend.
"Not with Covid restrictions." LOL! Another great video. Brings me back to my adventures around Loch Lomond and to my proscribed McGregor relatives-by-marriage in nearby Dumbarton.
Good work! Very enjoyable as well as informative. Thanks. i, of course am a McGregor by clan.
Congratulations sir you just got yourself a new subscriber from the land down under, Australia. I read a book all about cattle theft in the Scottish highlands, it was called the school of the moon if I remember correctly. It was a fascinating read about cattle theft as a rite of passage with it's own unwritten code.
There was a Basque band called Duncan Dhu in honour of the McGregor.
Do they have a txistu player? I play that instrument. There aren't a lot of txistularis in Scotland! 😃
I'm a MacGregor and have been looking into the name here and there, glad I came across this video and page.
McKeever here...no idea if they were anybody important back in the day...yet again I got my info from a Ren Fair.
No, never heard of Maccrimmons lament. Thanks for your work.
Not the most traditional version, fusing as it does Indian and Scottish, but my favourite. ruclips.net/video/GgeJsR7iugA/видео.html Or you may prefer this.ruclips.net/video/09vbngMkCdo/видео.html Sheila can't sing any more, do to illness and we lost Martyn in 2005. Laments indeed. 2 beautiful musicians silenced.
I don't know anything about the lament mentioned and look forward to a video by Bruce about it.
You talk here about cattle droving, and so it sent me to SWS’s Two Drovers which is on audiobooks. Love the tight connections between history and fiction.
