Same here. I have been waiting (impatiently lol) for Martin to get a proper release. Love that you have that VHS copy! I have the original Varese Sarabande Vinyl of the score and a very old CD release. The music is just amazing.
As a fan of your channel and your work, I am excited as to what is coming. Your personality vibes with me. Not many folks can get me excited based on their passion for something and you do sir. Awesome work!
Many thanks Richard! Some great stuff here. Not sure my budget will let me get everything I want. I might get one or two items if I can. I hope you have a great week and holiday season!
I was wondering the same thing. Some of them might. The last time I got some from their sale they did arrive with slipcovers. I know for some of the bigger titles they will say they don't have anymore slipcovers.
I'm so excited for "Slumber Party Massacre 2!" I have the steelbook of the 1st film, and I absolutely love it. Admittedly, I've never seen the sequels. Thank you for your service, sir! 👍
@@RichardDiaz There's a RUclipsr, "80s Horror Central" (Ben), who did a review of it a while back, and I immediatly went to Amazon to see if I could get a physical copy, but the options were basically non-existent, so this is a must purchase for me. 👍
Martin is I think the really great news in this news roll up. Ordered and really looking forward to seeing. Last saw on VHS in the 80s I think. Long time ago!
Yes and yes! I had to get the box set too. So excited for Texas Chainsaw next year! I am looking forward to seeing what will be in that set when they release the details.
@@RichardDiaz lol!😂 This year has been great for physical media but it's been killer for my savings. I have bearly saved anything and I only collect horror bro!😜
Cameron likes to film on Super 35 film because it made things much easier to crop the image for the old, square TV sets. The disadvantage is, you lose part of the image no matter which aspect ratio you watch. The widescreen version cuts off part of the image at the top and bottom, while the "square" version loses part of the image on the sides.
Thank you so much! Love your username. lol That is a great idea! I am putting together a few lists for videos to end the year on. I should take a look at some of those I passed on.
Great video thx for the heads up with Kino (there sales are always awesome!) Kino imo is the most underrated Mom & Pop Distributor in North America they are fantastic! Martin looks simply awesome this version seems to be the essential Collectors Edition (Going to pre-order it tonight) the Kat Ellinger commentary track should be really good she is a smart lady and her commentary tracks never disappoint! The Frighteners 4k looks outstanding too (Have had that film on every home video format except VHS) if it’s not to expensive i might import it! Slumber Party Massacre 1&2 in 4K is unexpected i wish it was the Trilogy in 4k though (Missing the 3rd film sucks but, the 2nd in 4k is a very nice surprise! Keep up the great work 👍👍👍👍
Just preordered The Dentist and the Silent Night Deadly Night collection. It's nice to be able to get movies for a decent price unlike some distributors that charge exorbitant prices for movies. I love this Dawn of the Dead remake, it's one of my favorite horror movies, I just hate having to double dip on this already, but I will 😁 The unrated cut is far superior and should be the one in 4k, if it was the theatrical I would have passed on this 4K. WOW, Slumber Party Massacre 2 on 4K, can't wait to get that, it's the better of those two films for me, the last 20 minutes (more or less) is awesome IMO.
Nice dude I didn’t know you were a Charlie Bronson fan 👏 he’s fantastic. Man the Death Wish series was a blast in the 80s and I’m a huge fan of Murphy’s Law. And I’m sure you know by now my little blunder was Dawn of the Dead if you saw that one video I posted several weeks back lol 🤦🏻♂️ I’ll have a copy of Romero‘s eventually.
What is this about a Dawn blunder? Haha I need to go look. I thought I was caught up with your videos but I need to see if I missed one. I am a Bronson fan. Anything he is in is a good movie right out of the gate. The Death Wish movies are awesome. Murphy's Law is great and that recent Blu-ray release of it is really good if you haven't picked it up yet.
@@RichardDiaz yeah I’ve been meaning to pick up Murphy’s Law but it’s over 30 bucks still for me, I’m waiting for the price to come down. It was pretty much the only video I did in November, i’ve been busy and I haven’t been very motivated but it was the Shocktober pick ups I did that I talked about my “blunder” lol 🥴
Hopefully, that unmatted version of The Frighteners is just an extra for fun. One of those six discs needs to be the matted version, otherwise, they are misrepresenting the cinematographer’s vision. The exception would be if shots were composed for both widescreen and TV ratio.
Yes, thats how it is. The discs are: - Theatrical Cut 4K/Blu Ray - Directors Cut 4K/Blu Ray - Open Matte version (of directors cut) Blu Ray - Bonus Features Blu Ray
Hi Richard. I love Peter Jacksons, the frighteners but at €134. 99 =£115.99 I'll have to bow out. Great news for "Martin" though from Second Sight films. The artwork on this bluray/4K isnt my favourite, i wish they could of reproduced the precert UK VHS Regards 🇬🇧
Being an old bugger, I'm like quadruple dipping here. 4K's, especially steelbooks are too expensive for me. There's seems to be an element of greed here. Maybe cuz' they know it's the last round up for physical media?
+Hand Solo Even when I really love a film, if I have a physical copy of it, I generaly don't get the upgrade. Like, what's the point? Even DVD quality is perfectly fine with me, in most cases. Plus, I feel I could spend that money on a movie I don't yet have a copy of.
@@Fluoride_Jones I can't settle for dvd. I've seen the top of the mountain. I have to be really picky. Black Christmas will the last 4K of 2022 for me.
@@handsolo1076 Haha! I can totally understand that. Admittedly, I'm not even into 4K, yet, but based on what Richard is saying here, I need to stop being a cheapskate and upgrade. I want that "Martin" 4K. Ironically, I used to have a copy on VHS that I bought from a pawnshop back in 2004. I wish I still had it. At that time, I had a 5-disc DVD player, but would still buy VHS tapes when I found stuff that caught my fancy, so to speak. 😁
I'm old too I have a few films that I'm quintuple and even sextuple dipping on. VHS, then DVD, then a special edition or directors cut DVD, then Blu Ray, then a box set Blu Ray, and now 4K. I am really picky about the films I upgrade from Blu Ray to 4K though. I'm not paying out the nose and must be a film I truly love.
I know how you feel. I am taking a good look over my collection and outside of some of my favorite films that I love having different releases for I plan on making sure I only have the 4K of it, if it has one. I need to thin out my collection. I really think 4K is also the final stop for physical releases. I have been wanting to do a video on it for a long time on that topic.
I prefer the theatrical cut of Snyder's Dawn of the Dead. The for the most part, the unrated cut isn’t more explicit. It would still get an R rating. It’s a bunch of extra or extended shots that distract from the punch of the original cut. Watch the theatrical, cut first and see what I mean. Theatrical cut has only been available on VHS and DVD. So at least this is an upgrade.
99% of the time the unrated/ uncensored version is what the fans watch...i dont think there will be too many fans holding out on the dawn of the dead remake 4k because the theatrical cut only got a 2k scan on the blu ray lol
Be sure to check your copy of Black Christmas. Mine arrived missing the 4K, two loose greasy Blu-rays covered in multiple scratches. Scream Factory is the worst. They just don’t really care about their customers and their quality control is abysmal. Replacement copy on the way, but I’m not too optimistic. Sick of the poor quality.
Buy vhs it's great quality 🕵️♂️ especially when I'm wearing my monocle 🧐. Frighteners in 4k is pretty much sold out on ebay u.k was it limited edition ? and do you think the current company that is currently producing them will bring out a cheaper standard release. It seems these companies are making minimal money. For example bubba ho tep has only sold about 8 copies on ebay u.k thats a flop beyond flop. I guess they are aiming at longevity but I personally think 4k blu ray is on the cusp of collapse with the exception of the big titles but they are bringing out lots of obscure titles. By that I don't mean bad films but certainly titles that won't sell many at the prices they are charging. Do you honestly( no pinocchio ) think they will ever get out say 5000 or 10,000 titles?
Grindhouse video and Orbit dvd have Martin available for preorder too.
