    @fatmattdrums I heard the space between beat 2 and the e of 2 as too large, and therefore called the rhythm wide. Upon a second listen, you are correct: the 360 backstick on beat 2 is early, which created that wide space I heard. And I never said you needed better understanding of the rhythm, I have only ever talked about interp.

    As a regular non drummer band person, I have to say this is freaking amazing! Had me smiling the whole time. I came here for my Utah football fix👌🏻
    I'm super envious that ya'll can do this, it's something I've wished I'd learned my whole 35yrs of life. Great job👏
    As always, GO UTES!!

      You can learn to do this. Seek out any local scottish bands, there are many in the country and in the state. Most will give you free lessons for joining, and you can perform in parades, and competitions and so on.

    @bmevans
    Just to be clear: I'm not the one playing it. I am not on this drumline.
    I just thought the "work on rhythms before adding tricks" was kinda prickish, because it was only the stick trick that was wrong, and I think two 360-backsticks in a row can be given a little slack.
    As long as we're all feeling super, that's fine with me.

    @bmevans
    Wrong. The tapoff is only rhythmically incorrect due to the second consecutive "hi-mom" falling early after a diddle (no hertas there). The player is interpreting the rhythms correctly, but in this case, he lost some control over that very unusual grip. People fuck up stick tricks sometimes.
    Watch the intro lick that's on some of my videos-the second bar of it was my college tapoff. Sometimes my singlestroke crossovers sounded like shit. So what? They usually didn't, and it was cool.

    @bmevans Sounds like "herta herta shot tap book-report accent shot" to me.

    @bmevans
    I figured it would be worthwhile to state the specifics of why your diagnosis was incorrect. It's good to understand why something is incorrect.
    If your mission is just to visit videos to say "that's wrong," then go ahead. I totally agree... there was something "wrong." I'd hate to have an instructor like you, though, if that's the substance of your analysis.

    @KuntaSlai The count off sticking is: rr L r rr L r r l rr l R rr *l *r
    rr = right hand diddle
    L = left hand hi-mom (360 back stick)
    R = right hand flam
    *l = left hand shot
    *r = right hand shot
    Hope that makes sense...

    @fatmattdrums All I heard was "Wrong. The tapoff is rhythmically incorrect due to excuses blah blah blah bullshit bullshit." Tell me what part of what I said was incorrect.

  • @KuntaSlai
    @KuntaSlai 12 лет назад

    I believe it is straight sixteenth notes, R being on the rim, and L being on the drum and R* being a ping shot with L* being a Crushed note.... RRLR LRLR RLRL RRLL - RRLR LRLR RLRL R* L*...... I BELIEVE don't take my word for it. I assume you were talking about the rim click part.

  • @KuntaSlai
    @KuntaSlai 13 лет назад

    2:57 OOOH YEAH. :)

  • @bmevans
    @bmevans 13 лет назад

    @fatmattdrums The fact that they are diddles rather than hertas is irrelevant; the execution of the rhythm was still incorrect. You admitted that. My original statement was that the rhythmic interpretation was incorrect. So tell me, mate, why am I wrong again?

  • @AstroMagi
    @AstroMagi 13 лет назад

    @bmevans Ok, so this particular tap off wasn't perfect but it's usually much better. Everyone makes mistakes. Take my word for it, he doesn't need to work on his rhythmic interpretation. Mitch knows his stuff.

  • @fatmattdrums
    @fatmattdrums 13 лет назад

    @bmevans
    You said to work on rhythmic interpretation before adding stick tricks.
    The only thing wrong about the rhythm was one of the stick-trick strokes itself. Better control over the stick trick is what is needed: not better rhythmic understanding.
    You also said that the rhythm was wide. This is false. If the rhythm were hertas, still, the result of that one note falling early would be a "tight" figure.
    Let's work on our reading comprehension before trolling on RUclips, why don't we?

  • @bmevans
    @bmevans 13 лет назад

    @CrusaderAttack That sounds like what it was supposed to be. Those hertas are mighty wide. Let's work on interpreting the rhythms properly before adding all the fancy 360 back sticks and whatnot.

  • @fatmattdrums
    @fatmattdrums 13 лет назад

    @bmevans
    You said "hertas are mighty wide". There are no hertas; those are diddles, and they are rhythmically correct.
    You made the condescending remark to work on rhythmic interpretation before adding stick tricks. The rhythmic inconsistency was in the stick trick itself: the second 360 back-stick.
    Ergo, your diagnosis was incorrect, and your condescending advice was ill-informed.
    Satisfied, mate?

    @fatmattdrums This is so dumb. I came here because of the puppies, laughed about the tapoff, and then people started justifying why it was ticked. I know why it was ticked. I was just laughing about it. Don't worry, I'm sure you're a super great band drummer.
