Did you miss the part in this interview specifically where the El Salvadoran being interviewed said that deportations under Trump went down? Fantastic interview Nick with the Salvadorans and the Hondurans. I am happy for the citizens of El Salvador 🇸🇻 💙 they have a second chance on life and to live a better life in El Salvador. I remember the 1980s and working at a factory in Toronto, Canada, that had employed some Salvadorans and a Colombian and Hondurans and one person in particular that caught my attention was Maria a Salvadoran woman who use to greet me with a big smile every morning before I started work and would always say to me hola guapo 😊 even though she smiled there was always a sadness in her eyes. And I didn't know why until another Salvadoran younger woman said to me that her son was stolen from her off the street while he was outside playing. Then, the young Salvadoran woman explained to me that hundreds of children disappeared in El Salvador and were never seen again. Maria's son was one of those hundreds of children, and her only child was that she never saw her son again. 😢 This discussion happened in 1984 when I was working at that factory 🏭 that was 40 years ago.
I just hope that their president doesn't get deleted. History shows us what happens to men like him. The fact you were able to just pull up and ask if you could meet with him is insane to me. They need to triple security around that man.

Actually, the street gangs mentioned in the report were originally from the USA. Central America didn't have street gangs. When US gang members were arrested and were in the US illegally they were deported back to El Salvador. There they continued with their gangs, and the problem just got bigger and bigger over the decades. The US caused the gang problem in El Salvador. Street gangs are a US home grown problem.

Excellent report. My mom was from El Salvador and immigrated to the US in 1960 to work as a nurse in a rural hospital in Oklahoma. I was surprised to see you down in Central America! I have only seen your reports in New York. The last time I was in El Salvador was in 1996. The country looks so nice. It's much better than when I was there. Gangs were a problem back then, too. The library is awesome. I am so happy to see the country's education is improving too. The gangs ruined the whole country. I'm very happy El Salvador is on the way to prosperity, keeping fingers crossed. I'm very impressed you jumped on a plane to personally see a country migrants are coming to the US from. Interesting but I do have my concerns about China. It would be very interesting if you could do the interview with President of El Salvador but the Mayor was a really great interview.
Xi Jinping is working with Mexico, and almost of Central and South America countries. Nick, I would suggest you look at China “Belt and Road initiative”. This is from the US Council on Foreign Relations and updated March of 2021: “The Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s signature foreign policy undertaking and the world’s largest infrastructure program, poses a significant challenge to U.S. economic, political, climate change, security, and global health interests.”

These places are all safer because a large amount of the immigrants left for America.
They're safer because their government is doing its job and America is a mess because your government is utterly incompetent.
