I think my favorite thing about this podcast is as follows: even though Jocko has had such a successful career in the military, and even though he’s had so much success transitioning into civilian life, he never seems to get too big headed. He listens intently. He tells the truth, however hard it may be for anyone to hear. Jocko seems so eager to learn new information. His energy is infectious. Finding this podcast has been one of my favorite things of the new year. I know I’m late to the party, but I’m just happy I’m here.
One of the things he helps me with is trying to move up at work, I want to be a leader "make more money" but i dont like being an asshole, jocko doesnt haft to be an asshole his presence just screams leader. I listen to him alot.
In my humble opinion, the best jocko podcast ive seen, intense, no-nonsense. Mr. Gardner should have his own podcast, wow, I like the way he tells his story, grabbed my attention and listened on the edge of my seat. Please bring him back for part 2. Thank you!
I have been read Beowulf since I could understand speech. Both of my parents are Medievalists and as a young child I taught myself to say “Beowulf is my name”. I have to say, hearing Beowulf read by a modern day Beowulf who fought the Grendels that prowl the real world was absolutely epic. Thanks, Jocko!
1st time listener, but found you were awesome on Rogan, commenting, liking, and subscribing now! Respect to you and Master Chief Gardner from a former Marine. Semper Fi.
Working for Echelon Front is DEFINITELY a much better plan than, "Doing some type of investment...stuff." That Mr. Gardner had planned the first time he got out of the Navy. Like Jocko says when you are getting ready to leave the service, "Find your next mission." Another awesome podcast!
Joined the Navy 1985, born and raised in Detroit got stationed on a GMC out of San Diego where I first herd Black Flag and then the Circle Jerks never heard anything like it and immediately loved it , got into Metallica and Slayer and still jam to them today
Old school Jocko Podcast when that’s all there was. Applauding the rapid and much deserved, and Earned, success! But there was something irresistible about this time. I’m sure there are many awesome JP’s yet to be. But this is when I was hooked, hung on every word, becoming a loyal fan. Thank you both for keeping the spirit of JP mostly real and raw.
My son is transitioning from civilian to war fighter. At this moment he is engaged in the PAST test Air Force Spec Ops. Aspiring PJ, one of my greatest gifts I gave him was the link to this podcast. Thanks Jocko, for the podcast and the books.
Love the Humility from you two. Especially to hear it from the Master Chief who was constantly reminding us how cocky he was. (And then more humbly states it was nothing but insecurity) Great Podcast! Amazing and very inspiring.
Hahaha yeah that’s interesting. Usually only see that with drill instructors and what not but I guess if you’re in consistent combat/training you’re yelling almost just as much.
Ahhhh haaa I C what’cha did there. Ya know a lotta people on here woulda missed that subtle nuance of genius that makes you the clever sand baggin son of a bitch that you are. Not me though. A genuine... welll we don’t need to go there.
SLAYER \m/Going to see them on my birthday in May! Found out about them when I was 12 from my buddies older brother and they make the hair on my arms stand up to this day 20 years later! Once I heard them, the bar was set!
This dang Podcast, just listening to Jocko and Echo jab and joke around with each other at the end of each podcast makes it so much more rewarding listening through every podcast. Just Jocko's evil laugh alone is worth waiting for. The genuineness in this podcast is unmatched in the very awkward world of podcasts out there. Thanks Jocko and Echo for your efforts! P.S. - Hoping to see Goggins in your podcast in the future!
Completely missed this episode, like many others but still, what an inspiring and just awesome dude. Jocko, although this has been over a year ago, this still applies now, you are by far the best podcast host ever, like.. I listen to podcasts daily (mentors 4 military, mike ritland, the fieldcraft survival podcast, modern mindset, cleared hot, recon,..), but you really are by far the best host. Not because you're a giant of a man, not because you were a seal, not because of any of that, it's because you don't let ANY of that get to your head and you're just really genuinely interested in their stories, you let them speak you don't interrupt them (a big mistake from a lot of hosts), you really know how to kinda guide the guest into a certain way where they are really comfortable talking and sharing their stories. You sir deserve all the respect you get from the people around you, you definitely do. Kind regards.
How have I not heard of this Podcast today. I heard Andy on Rogan. Then today Jocko is on my feed today. Strange. Well I can try and clue in while sheltering in place. Great stuff.
I'm interested in starting to eat healthy. Can you list what you eat in your diet, maybe make a recipe book{ just a thought} and I'm truly glad I found you on Joe Rogan and have enjoyed watching your positive and inspirational podcasts!
I was getting ready for bed and literally before clicking in the video thumbnail, I said to myself, "Tell me a bedtime story uncle Jocko, and then i hear that opening excerpt he reads in the beginning, felt like Christmas in July 😂🤣
Thanks for another great podcast! A bit of explanation on some of the military jargon used during the podcast would have been great for to those of us who have never served in the military. Several times I found myself hoping the jacked Echo Charles would pipe up and ask, "what does that mean?"

I definitely heard Reign in Blood playing over the PA system of an MRAP the squad guys were using at like 0400 after coming back from a mission. Caught myself instinctively begin to nod my head, make the metal face, and make the horns. 😂 I got IA orders to Iraq in 09-10. After arriving in Ramadi I was finally told I was augmenting a SEAL team. Im nothing special but worked hard to do my job right tracking missions and doing supply runs to smaller OPs. Mr Babin was my operations officer for that deployment and as a person who worked in operations I spoke with him daily. I can’t forget the “classroom” Instruction (for EXW pin) he gave about expeditionary operations. For two hours he described the scenario, decisions made, and what he experienced during the Battle for Ramadi in 06. Being face to face and hearing this first hand really stuck with me.

About time, too. I've been waiting. I'm betting on Aristophanes next.
Goosebumps bro good shit
Would listen to Jocko read a Beowulf audiobook. Or more segments at least!
I loved it when the seal teams rolled with us! He said it felt like a beast rolling around us but it felt like call of duty with them!😂🙋🏽♂️
Finally, Jocko podcast recognizes the genius of Sensei Master Ken.
How on Earth could anyone give any of Jocko's podcasts a thumbs down? Love these.

It is wonderful watching such an intimate conversation between friends. It is as if nobody else is there. Also so amusing hearing “wasta”.
