      Along with being 3-4, atleast we know that this team is capable of winning those close crunch time games where the game can be decided by one possession. This would be very different if we were 1-6 or 2-5. I’m not worried at all yet given with what we got

    I would run the offense through Cam. It will develop his game more and build an identity with the Nets team. Mikal will be the 2nd scoring option but he’s such a good team player he’ll do everything else as well

    • @rolotomassi9586
      @rolotomassi9586 Год назад +13

      Eventually Mikal will become the third scoring option. The Nets have a promising rookie Dariq Whitehead, a top talent who has suffered injuries. This won't happen this season but over medium and long term Mikal will be able to focus on his defensive responsibilities while still being a vital scorer just not having to carry the team.

    • @indamaking
      @indamaking Год назад +26

      @rolotomassi9586 Год назад +24

      @@indamaking Mikal can score 25ppg but my point is that last season after he became the main option he was not nearly as effective on defence. And as he was a DPOY runner-up we know he can be a premier two-way player. I'd rather have Mikal score a few less buckets per game if it meant he was focused on keeping opposition stars in check on D. Watching Mikal it is easy to see he has patience and smarts, he can score efficiently and he is going to be the leader of the Nets for the next five years at least.

    I’m a lsu fan so I follow the situation a bit more closely. Apparently he’s looked at as a valuable piece for the future and potential staring guard along with bridges, but they want him to work on his passing and defense. So benching him last year was telling him he needs to improve in those areas. According to lsu media, they want him to develop into a Kobe or kyrie. Basically cam has the scoring. Develop one of passing or defense.

    The problem with Thomas is that he has tunnel vision and his defense was really poor. Doesn't matter you're a great scorer if you have those huge problems. This year the story has been different. He still has big tunnel vision, but he's starting to take better decisions and he's making an effort on defense. Also, this year the Nets had a good defensive environment around Thomas, so he can take his time maturing as a player. I think he can be a great player (I also thought about Devin Booker) and he is already, but he needs to take some leaps in his not-so-good areas. If he does, he's a bonafide All-Star.

    I use to hate Jack Vaughn "only for basketball reasons" but i have a feeling management was holding C.Thamas back; cause they wanted to lower his value so they don't have to pay him and be over the cap. Cam Thomas thrives when given the opportunity. Unfortunately, he came in when KD, Kyrie, and even Harden were on the team. When there’s an opportunity, like when there’s injuries on the starters, the coach/es unleashed him and let him do his thing. With injuries in the team early this season, he’s taking advantage of it and leads the team in scoring, taking the burden away from Mikal Bridges. Forget the win-loss record, major players were taking turns getting injured. When Cam injured by the dirty PJ Tucker, Clax and Cam Johnson came back. The Nets style of game changed too when Ben Simmons was out (still is at this moment).

    as a nets fan, I don’t think that we will build around Cam Thomas. He is way too 1 dimensional but that doesn’t mean he can’t improve on his playmaking. Also he is way too inconsistent and lacks IQ. He is a more efficient Poole and he rarely shows up when truly needed. If we do decide on trading him I wanna build around a 2-way PG and claxton

    That conclusion had me ROLLING!!!!! Truth be told Jac should of been let go when Nash left. Jac decided to make it Mikel’s team. So if Cam is traded to w/e that team will have his jersey retired there. Jac is not a good coach for this team.

    My most recent take was that Jacque Vaughn was asked to tank last year after the trades but don’t make it obvious. At the time, after the trades I thought they were still punishing him for his controversial offensive hateful comment.

    Your argument at the end doesnt make any sense. The brooklyn nets GM and HC are from the spurs. The spurs organization has always prioritized that players play both ends of the basketball and play within the flow of an unselfish ball movement oriented system. That's why thomas got DNPs early on. He himself acknowledged this summer that he put in the work to improve his defense and playmaking and worked with the coaching staff to improve. It's not about "f ing it up" it's about development. He just turned 22. Rather than just turning him into an automatic greenlight without much else to offer they're molding him. The team has a pretty good developmental track record going back to 2015. They know what they're doing and cam accepted the challenge hence why he's getting his mins now and he's better than he was back then

      @@NotGordbut his scoring overshadows that, and he’s an insanely gifted one at that. extremely crafty and can make shots at any angle. the turnovers would be an easy fix as he plays more, and his defense has gotten better, not average but just enough for him to stay in front of someone.

    IMO: Cam Thomas is a pretty lackluster defender and cant playmake that great. His minutes dropped off in March as they were trying to figure things out. Now, you have four amazing defenders (Mikal, Clax, Simmons, and DFS), and so the nets can afford to lose that bit of defending in exchange for offensive talent. That is the reason why he is getting more minutes.

  • @Playboipete
    @Playboipete Год назад

    if you really dont know its that hes a prototype 6th man type player. the michael beasly. scoring is not the issue its pace, game flow etc. just cause you have the highest percentage to score doesnt mean its alwasy the best choice. others need touches to make the game flow and get comfortable later when they need to knock down shots. you need different types of offense to keep defenses honest.
    its like when prime cp3 could in theory have the best % by taking every shot since he was damn near unstoppable. but what made him so good is that he didnt shoot. not that he did. guys like mike beasly eric gordon lou will these dudes can score any time they wanted too. but thats really it. if the game needed to be slowed down they really couldnt. and if they are on the court you kinda just have to give them the ball because they can score and they cant really be cold for too long.
    when u talk about on the playground. or 1v1 these dudes are the best of the best. but organized ball is just different'
    im surprised you haven't noticed it, if you watch games it very apparent. and like in playoffs its even more inefficient when nba players start trying on defense
