The e-Gate aims to facilitate the smooth entry of ever-increasing inbound passengers, shorten their waiting times, and reduce congestion at the customs inspection area. At Haneda Airport, Fukuoka Airport, and Naha Airport, passengers are able to make customs declarations electronically by using an electronic declaration terminal during the waiting times for checked baggage. After retrieving checked baggage, passengers may simply walk through the e-Gate for customs clearance without stopping or waiting.
